I don’t want to be the guy that tells you what loser behaviour it is to run onto a football field during a game. In fact, I have stayed away from it all week, content to reflect on what was important to most of us from the weekend. However, for the record, it is loser behaviour.
I’m told that the rash of this in Australian sports was promptly stopped by the issuing of heavy fines on the perpetrators. Fines on the clubs do not inhibit anything, as the free-loader mentality correlates highly with loser behaviour.
Now that we have that out of the way, we must also address Hearts 29% shareholder Tony Bloom’s comments yesterday on TalkSport, “The Hearts players were in danger, one or two got assaulted.”
Is that so? Tony is a data man, maybe the ultimate data man in UK football, so what is it, Tony, one or two? Place your bets. Assault is a serious matter and should be reported to the police. Dozens of SkySports and Celtic TV cameras were at the game, dozens more CCTV cameras captured events. If Tony makes these allegations, he must have evidence. Help the police, help Celtic ban the assailant(s), share what you know. At least share who was assaulted, that would make it significantly easier to identify the perpetrator.
If someone working for you was assaulted in the course of their duties, you would have a responsibility to report it to the police. I suspect Tony is not going to report this to the police. Maybe it was one player who was assaulted, maybe it was two. Maybe it was zero. Maybe, despite all those cameras, all Hearts players remained on video throughout without any being assaulted. Let’s not make too much of an alleged case of criminal damage by one of them (who has my sympathy, ban anyone putting a phone in the face of an opposition player).
As for the First Minister getting in on the act; the criminal justice system in Scotland is a shambles because our politicians either have no interest or no competency to do their jobs. Soundbites do not change loser behaviour. Prosecutions do, and that part of the state is no longer functioning correctly due to the free-loaders in parliament. The losers who ran onto the field on Saturday have a lot in common with those in Holyrood, they are codependent. Actual football fans have to suffer them both.

Bloomin lovely day
Feck Tony Bloom.
Zionist.
Can’t argue with that Paul 67
Paul – Does Celtic have a functioning PR and legal dept? If so, why are they not saying what you are saying i.e. Put up or shut up regarding these accusations.
DeniaBhoy on 21st May 2026 12:04 pm
Celtic does not have a functioning anything in the upper level….surely you know that….
Five in a row 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
ONENIGHTINLISBON – In the absence of any proof to the contrary, you appear to be right. It is beyond comprehension that the Club has allowed this narrative to be spun across all of the media without responding to it. I can understand that sometimes it is best to say nothing but for goodness sake, at least call out the lies. Everything that happened on the field was filmed from various angles. By CCTV, by Sky and by 1000s of supporters. It is inconceivable that a player was physically asaulted without there being a recording of it.
The embra hun were traumatised by a fenian poltergeist 👻
I have been trying to find out how many fans Brighton banned after a pitch invasion against Chelsea, in 2022.
Can’t seem to locate that information.
Maybe it was all bluster coming from Bloom and his lackeys running Brighton.
Funny that.
DeniaBhoy on 21st May 2026 12:15 pm
The people at the top level of Celtic allow the good name of the club to be trashed by all in the media with little or no response.
Bloom’s unfounded allegations should be challenged but would anyone be surprised if the weren’t?
And you can 100% bet if ANY Hearts player or official had one finger laid on them we would be seeing it displayed on every media outlet in this little sectarian pisshole of a country.
Maybe Tony Bloom could contact the sevco hierarchy for advice on pitch invasions. Wasn’t there at least 6 of their players “assaulted” in the cup final with Hibernian ?
Multiple prosecutions as well in the courts. . . . . .
Aye, you don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to solve this one.
Give the names of the players claiming assault to the police, use footage to identify their whereabouts on the pitch at full time, then track what happens from there to when they go up the tunnel.
Quite simple, I would have thought.
That aside, the pitch invasion was really disappointing – I didn’t want the game to end with me booing Celtic fans. I’d have preferred it to end by watching the team celebrate Osmand’s goal, then trotting back to the half-way line, then watching Robertson blow for full time as soon as Hertz kicked off.
That the vast majority who remained in the stands were deprived of this by a selfish few casts a slight shadow over what was otherwise a perfect day.
100% agree
Wow. Agree with every word Paul. Whilst I know that won’t continue it is a pleasant feeling.
What you should also have said is that our club is also run by incompetent people. Whether that is in the boardroom or others wearing suits.
Ignoring accusations is cowardly and weak. Evidence is required so publicly request it.
Rather than have Martin O’neill facing this nonsense get a representative of the club to deal with this. Or do they need Dermot answering on their behalf?
Those that run our club have ONCE AGAIN let us down.
The simple minded pitch invaders need fined. A law would help in that respect.
The UK Unionists have had their baws well and truly booted on and off the park these last few days/weeks/months/years.
Watching der hun seek solice in self denial is a beautiful thing.
If only we had someone with a legal background who could take up the challenge and defend Celtic against all these unsubstantiated allegations.
Pity.
*solace
No sympathy for the big man who had a phone put in his face. No one came out of it looking good but someone certainly has anger management issues. Him and thumb heid should have been up the tunnel pronto
Celtic’s PR response is just a very normal way a grown up business operates. Its served us well for the whole of this century, giving in to the basest urges never ends well.
Football in Scotland is uniquely mental, we arent like the rest, dont behave like we are.
Celtic’s problem is that, if they defend themselves against the hyperbolic pile on, they will be represented as supporting the pitch invaders.
“ Tony is a data man, maybe the ultimate data man in UK football, so what is it, Tony, one or two? Place your bets.”
Maybe it’s an Each Way bet..?
Let Bloom make a fool of himself like everyone else we’ve come up against this century.
Empty words when you come second
I don’t want to be the guy that tells you what loser behaviour it is to run onto a football field during a game.
—————–
dearie me.
My uncle was on the park in Lisbon. Twice.
Once in 1967 when for some reason, this poor teenager from Greenock, felt the overwhelming need to celebrate like he had never done before, as he witnessed something that had never been done before, and ran on the park with some several thousand others.
Were they losers ? or just celibrants ?
He was back on that park in 2017, but it was the organised CQN event, so that was different and ok.
Me being a feartie, I have never been on the park, but my brothers were regulars, as were many a saint stephens pupil of the early 80s. It was a rite of passage, that boast of being on the pitch at the big occassion, pre selfie days, having a witness to your gallusness and “joining in” was tolerated.
This against a backdrop of much violence and bottle chucking.
The Hampden riot anyone ?
I have vivid memories of the break in against St Mirren in 82 at celtic park, and offcourse love street in 86. Lots of famly members and friewds were on the park,
Were any of these people losers ? or just celibrants ?
Last saturday, the son of the guy who was in Lisbon was on the pitch, he is 52 years old. He was with his 19 year old son. They came out the standing section, they didnt hurt anyone or assault anyone, or taunt anyone, they cried, actually cried, in a deeply emotional moment, for their own personal reason. It lasted less than 2 minutes.
Are they losers ?
While chanting “get off the park” my section in 444 had a good laugh at a man with his little toddler, 2ish, on the park, getting a picture, they certainley were not assaulting anyone. Just a dad giving himself a moment that will live with him forever.
I might not like the spectacle, but so what, he is in my opinion allowed to celbrate his moment as he sees fit.
I said to my pal (a veteran of the pitch at love street 86) when daizen scored, they better get a ring of stewards and police around the whole pitch , experience of attending football matches, tells you in the best most unexpected moments, like running the length of the opponents half to score a goal with the last kick of the ball, to win a championship that seemed near impossible only a month ago.
What did they expect ? what did they think would happen ?
People on the pitch has been with us since the first games of association football, it was ever thus.
You want to avoid it happening, get more police in place.
The guy in Lisbon. He was still going to the standing section earlier this year at the age of 78.
He watched the Rangers and Hearts game slippin in and out of consciousness. He smiled and laughed a little. His Celtic had won, he would have been on the park in spirit. I owe my Celtic supporting partizanship to him, he took me everywhere.
Duncan Campbell, of Greenock and Blackpool has passed at 12 today with his family there to help him through the door.
Many know him, a real Celtic supporting legend.

I think Shankland was , understandably , slower off the pitch because he had crumpled to a heap on the hallowed turf when he realised 3 Celtic players were strolling unchallenged the whole length of Hearts half to stoke the ball casually into an empty net to finish the game (and their league challenge) like three wee boys in a Primary School playground.
Bless
Ho ho ho, Mr Brennan.
Agree wholeheartedly with pretty much all of it.
Perhaps Mr Bloom prefers the media route rather than the Scottish legal route because he is worried that
… an assault by a fan on a club employee
… on the pitch during the game
… captured live on NATIONAL TELEVISION
Might result in a NOT PROVEN verdict in court (A concept he, an English man, might not grasp)
SURELY the above couldn’t happen in real life could it?

Your uncle sounds like a great fella.
SILVER CITY 1888 on 21ST MAY 2026 12:58 PM
Celtic’s problem is that, if they defend themselves against the hyperbolic pile on, they will be represented as supporting the pitch invaders.
Engage on their terms and you legitimise them.
Bloom’s aim is to become part of a big 3, this is part of a PR push – perception that they are part of the elite in Scotland.
Celtic should show them the respect they are due and no more, which means not engaging in a to and fro with a club that hasnt won a thing forever.
Its sounds elitist and not very Celtic but Bloom will understand everything about status.
Hearts players were down longer (more than once) for treatment than the total time of pitch invasion/pitch clearance.
You won’t read that anywhere.
Paul67 et al
Well I, for one, would not go as far as describe those ‘who ran onto the field on Saturday’ as “losers”.
No, more as supporters of the winning team in celebratory mood and or mode, initially after Callum Osmand’s final goal and then from different parts of the stadium. Not against the law in Scotland apparently but most certainly against the rules which apply @ Celtic Park. That said the behaviour of those fans who confronted Hearts players up close and personal, goading two players in particular, was and is unacceptable, and could possibly constitute a ‘breach of the peace’ under Scots Law. That’s a criminal offence in Scotland Paul, so I wouldn’t be too hasty to dismiss possible or potential police action against ‘one or two’ individuals.
Pour encourager les autres n’est-ce pas…..
BTW …
Let’s bring in strict liability …
… but gradually.
Start small, say with
Does your CCTV actually work?
In which case, Celtic have nothing to worry about.
In fact, here’s an idea
(ok, I’ve borrowed it from another club)
Why don’t we use the profits from the World Cup to improve CCTV in Scottish football.
That way, people who commit actual acts of criminality and violence against football people … instead of just indulging in poor judgement and and weak impulse control …
… actually get caught and punished?
Radical.
Its a free hit at Celtic at the moment – always is to be fair but never seen it like this.
Previous posters are right – Celtic usually say nothing and let it blow over but this is ridiculous and the losers and the media are facilitating and stoking it as much as possible – it is sad that the club appear not to have the confidence to defend themselves.
We could start by telling a few news outlets not to bother coming back – the one sided view of this is off the charts. How do our detractors get to say unsubstantiated nonsense with no burden of proof, no challenge to their view and no comparison drawn to some accusers previous behaviours is just wild – McInnis at Rugby Park a few year back anyone? “the fans deserve their day”? He and they can say whatever they want and no journalist feels it worthwhile to draw the comparison? Make no mistake they are 100% for the pile on.
The bare faced lie that Hearts HAD to leave the ground immediately is 100% shite – what did they expect to happen inside the changing rooms, showers, media room? It was their choice, they chose to grandstand, to add to the story and to try and put Celtic in a bad light – either that or they are a bunch of complete lightweight pansies that couldn’t bring themselves to listen to the party going on at their expense.
I sincerely hope it stiffens our clubs resolve to invest and improve and blow this lot and their cheerleaders out the water next season – lets give them something greet about Celtic
I said to the guy in seat beside me with 10 mins to go that there were visibly hardly any stewards or police covering pitch side.
The Hearts support was penned in by a police cordon.
My exact words, ‘if we score they are going on to the park’.
The pitch invasion was entirely foreseeable. Whether Celtic FC or Police Scotland, it was a clear and obvious oversight.
Well done, Paul. Not sure I accept branding the invaders as losers though. More Irresponsible, selfish and stupid. Why stupid? Imagine if we had scored the third in, say, the 95th minute and the same invasion happened. The Ref takes the players off the field. Either they return or the match is abandoned. If the latter, a replay is then ordered. What a risk. We would all suffer if we lost it. The real losers would be our magnificent players. All due to the idiots who entered the field.
.Blooms comments are, in the absence of evidence, dangerous nonsense. Surely some decent journalist will challenge him to support his accusations! As if.
I
We re also seeing the opening shots in next seasons league campaign.
They’ll try their best to convince that they are plucky underdogs, hard done by and righteously working against “old firm corruption”. The penalty and the final day will be fuel for their righteous anger and Bloom will be hoping it helps with the gigantic hangover that could derail their season before they get going. The trouble is the rest of Scottish football have seen them on top of the league for so long they’ve grown used to seeing them as genuine challengers and the hype about Jamestown analytics will mean they go into next season with hugely resided expectations.
You will have heard that this is the worst Hearts team we’ll see, thats quite a burden to carry into the new season when every team will go into games against them with the same mentality they normally reserve for us and the Huns.
They will have three qualifying ties for Europe and then 8 league games – with a couple of extra cup rounds they could be looking at 16 more games the coming season than last, in all probability more or as many as us.
Its going to be a much harder season for them than everyone thinks, the more they can paint themselves as the victims, or underdogs the better
The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on 21st May 2026 12:41 pm
Agree 100%
Also P67, not sure I get the losers thinking?!
Impulsive for going on, selfish and stupid for staying on but losers?
I’ve come across many new club supporters this week through work, I can confirm they are broken.
I’m sure once preseason begins they will be full of hope again.
On a different topic but a similar vein in the way the media treats a big story.
They are absolutely tying themselves in knots trying not to criticise the late Queen in her role in appointing Andrew formerly known as Prince to his special Ambassador job.
Hearts will also face the prospect of a Huns who seem to have abandonded the grown up path to sustainability and success and have reverted to the old short termism that worked so badly for them before.
The Huns Chairman is talking about experience, mentality and quality, they’ve gone from copying us to copying Hearts. Do what they do only with more money is a pretty basic way of beating your opponent but it could work against Hearts if they can make up the shortfall in business intelligence with cash.
It wont be enough to beat us over a sustained period but it might work against their Edinburgh cousins
