CALMAC’S CROWNING GLORY

CALLUM McGREGOR will have the honour of unfurling the Premiership flag before the action gets underway against Aberdeen at Parkhead this afternoon.

The Scotland international midfielder guided Celtic to the title in his first season as captain after taking over as onfield leader from Scott Brown last summer.

McGregor became a pivotal figure in Ange Postecoglou’s line-up and formation and he will be in his usual anchorman position against the Dons as the champions begin the defence of their crown.

He is joined in the middle of the park by Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate while David Turnbull and Aaron Mooy are among the substitutes.

Benji Siegrist gets the nod over Scott Bain as back-up keeper to Joe Hart.

TEAM: Hart; Juranovic, Carter-Vickers, Welsh, Taylor; O’Riley, McGregor, Hatate; Jota, Kyogo, Maeda. Subs: Siegrist, Jenz, Giakoumakis, Abada, Mooy, Turnbull, Bernabei, Forrest, Ralston.
