CALLUM McGREGOR will be delighted if Celtic stage an action replay against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park tomorrow night.

It’s almost a year since the Hoops last played on the dreaded plastic pitch in Ayrshire, but on that occasion there was a lot to enjoy as skipper Scott Brown thumped in a memorable last-minute winner.

The goal sparked wild celebrations and copped the midfielder an unfortunate second yellow card from referee Bobby Madden for leaving the pitch to share the moment with the travelling fans.

Brown’s belter sent the Parkhead men eight points ahead in the title race and proved crucial as the champions sealed eight in a row.

McGregor, speaking to the Daily Record, said: “There are certain grounds you go to that you know will be sticky, but we need to do whatever we can to get the three points.

“We understand that, we’ve managed to go there in the past and get big wins like we did last year, which came at the right time.

“That was probably a big moment in the title race. We went right to the death and managed to get the winner.

“Sometimes in the second half of the season maybe the quality of the football goes out the window a little bit.

“As long as you’re winning that’s all that matters.”

McGregor warmed up for the latest test at Rugby Park with the winner in the holders’ 2-1 Scottish Cup triumph over Partick Thistle at Firhill on Saturday night to hand them a place against Clyde at Cumbernauld in the next round in February.
