Cameos sparkle for Celtic

299

I was annoyed at Dundee United, who were poor in the first half – not even setup defensively as well as teams near the bottom of the table, but then flipped into an effective pressing side late in the game.  They are third in the table on merit and could have caused Celtic more trouble, had they gone for it earlier in the game.

So much of the football we watch is ‘Defence v Attack’, so all in the stadium were alarmed when it was announced that Nicolas Kuhn had dropped out of the lineup before kick-off.  Nicolas is our most effective opener of tight defences, and the late change seemed to impact Celtic’s flow.  Early in the game the ball most often went left, to Taylor and Maeda; Johnston and Yang were less involved.

23 minutes in, however, Johnston found Yang (unconventionally) to create the opening goal.  United manager Jim Goodwin was correctly annoyed at his defence, who had chances to clear, but were not as sharp as Daizen Maeda.

Luis Palma made a late cameo appearance, flavoured with a delightful outside of the foot pass to create the opening for the second goal.  The pass was followed by a perfect example of ‘less is more’.  Another cameo – Paulo Bernardo – dummied the ball before it rolled into the path of Reo Hatate to score.

That defeat at the start of the month seems a long time ago now.

Was reading a bit about Jimmy Carter and came across this which was said to have influenced his life and faith. It was from a sermon he once heard/read…….

  2. BTB,

You miss out the chance to either play for Celtic or Brugge. Not a great deal of excitement about the Belgian league.Celtic, for all we play in Scotland,a worldwide name, chance to play in CL,win medals, big crowds, decent wages.Glowing references from football greats. Or Brugge,h,mmm.

  3. 9 Dundee players out injured and now their best player Lyall Cameron not playing either.

Better watching the FA cup tonight I reckon.

  4. I think the Huns have kissed that many frogs, they have finally found a Prince. From what I have seen of him so far,Igamane looks a player.More like a Brazilian.I really hate to say this, and I really hope he eventually joins the rest of their deadbeats, but what I have witnessed so far,he can play.

    ……..

McCowan is lost without Lyall Cameron by his side.

Like Broony was lost without Kevin Thompson by his side.

When Broony first came to us, if he didn’t get suspended in the run in to the 2008 season were we won 3 in a row then Strachan would probably have been sacked as the fans had him sussed.

Tommy Coyne was also lost without Keith Wright as a striking partner,

Charlie Nicholas at Arsenal was lost without Frank McGarvey.

The Maestro was guff without Murdo MacLeod by his side, 10 years of the Hun Juggernauts winning all midfield battles against us was proof of that, and the Centenary year 1988 was down to Divine Intervention, if it was not, then how to explain the next 9 years till wily Wim arrived to save us?

Wee horrible krankie got found out without Alex Salmond by her side. Said every dog on every Scottish street, sadly Tims are incapable of having a conversation with a dog. Dog is far too smart, cute, and handsome.

Like a few posters and others I have spoken too , I remain to be convinced about Adam Idah . Sure he scored some important goals for us last season but it hasn’t carried through into this season .

I think we were unlucky in Norwich changing their manager with the new guy coming in playing hardball . I believe we could him for a good bit less than £9m if that hadn’t happened as Adam was so far out of the picture .

  7. 1-0 Dundee!

Feck!!! Forgot to stick my bet on them at 17/2.

i dont think that is important at this stage.

if someone doesnt think he is good enough then they still shouldnt be happy with him being in the team whether he cost 9 quid or 9 million quid.

im yet to be convinced either, but if he scores important goals then that buys him time

  9. Love the BBC commentators trying to be all European and pronounce baldy’s name as felleep Clummow!

I hope Adam comes good and there is a chance that he will . It will need a lot of work done on some areas of his game which are very raw, but if he can’t do it at our club he won’t do it anywhere .

  11. BBC commentary…

“Rangers may have had more of the ball, but Dundee have been the better team”

  12. Oh, and Broony became the One eyed King in the land of the blind when the One horse league arrived in 2012.

  14. DessyBhoy – Not a penalty, neither was the previous claim by Murray.

Dundee having a real go though, would not be surprised if they get another goal.

  15. Paul McStay missed no one .

He stuck with us and fought his corner whilst Celtic were left in the trailing winds by the financial power spent at Ibrox.

    TT

  16. Stood on Murrays foot and barged into him.I thought that’s enough for a penalty.Seems not.Pointless having jump the dyke on commentary.
