Campaign of Deflection puts Celtic in perilous situation

242

Tim Williamson is Celtic’s Head of Physiotherapy and Medical Services, but in football he is more famous for an incident in the 1990s, when he was Partick Thistle’s physio.  Thistle player Colin McGlashan took a head knock, Tim treated McGlashan and told manager, John Lambie, that the player didn’t know who he was.  Lambie shouted back, “Tell him he’s Maradona and get him back on”.  [Commonly misquoted as “Tell him he’s Pele”].

The joke works because everyone knows that if an individual is full of confidence, they will do better.  The opposite is also true.  Tell them they are a Honda Civic and are competing against Ferraris and they’ll win nothing.  John Lambie knew this, good school teachers know this and good parents know this.  Leadership is hard, but telling people you have faith in them is the easy part.

Dundee, Hibernian, Kairat, Braga and Newco are not Ferraris.  We outspend, out-pay and out-sport-science all of them.  Dundee were 11th before yesterday.  Braga are 8th in Portugal – and have not won a league game since 17 August.  By any measure, these clubs are minnows.

Dundee deserved their win and could have scored more.  They knew their tasks, fought for their manager and wiped the floor with a team who looked like they had been told they were nothing more than Honda Civics.

It is impossible to win the league with that narrative and crucially, not everyone realises this.  We are in a perilous situation and as long as the Campaign of Deflection is waged, it will get worse.

    …….

The People USA and UK were lied to, just like Celtic fans and Scottish Catholic’s mainly, were lied to for 17 years by the Snp/Greens chancers.

Another fair question would be to consider WHY? Kyogo and Khun are not first choice starters?

  3. News just in. Maccabi Tel Aviv hae told their supporters that they will not be able to buy tickets for their away EL game at Villa

And this after Lisa Nandy held a debate in the Commons this afternoon stating that everything would be done to enable them to attend said match. Left looking like both a tool and a fool. Not difficult in her case.

  4. I saw a report today that Maccabi’s game yesterday had to be abandoned due to crowd trouble. I would not want their fans anywhere near our ground.

“Who the hell do you think you are? How dare you presume to give instructions to the British govt. The Zionist colony is despised by the vast majority of the British public and by people all over the world. A day of reckoning is coming when Israel will be held accountable for its 77 years of crimes against humanity.”

Deputy leader of the WPB has spoken.

PS, Chris Williamson was trown under the bus by Jeremy Corbyn who was on his knees for two full years aploogising to these folk.

But it wasn’t Aston Villa FC who banned them, the decision was made by the Birmingham’s ‘Safety Advisory Group’ (responsible for issuing Safety Certificates for football matches) and supported by West Midland Police who classed the fixture as “high risk”.

  7. Looks like Starmer was planning on flooding Aston, (an area with a large population of Asian descent) with police from all over, to force the issue. Lisa Nandy should have known better, but obviously doesn’t, and has ended up looking like a Starmer Stooge.

  8. CM I stand corrected,I thought Starmer would have made sure it was reversed for his boss,Trump

  9. Some real naivety on show here tonight. People actually believe the board will grasp our current situation and take some action ,really? What possible evidence of this sudden action or plan for action have the rest of us missed?

BR will be here come hell or high water until his contract runs out, then and only then will our board even begin looking for a replacement. That replacement will not be in place until well after the summer finishes and will be uninspiring.

In the meantime we’ll have Maloney and Kennedy.

Yip it’s all the supporters fault.

I see the assimilation nonsense getting posted again, I’m still no wiser as to what it means.

  10. glendalystonsils on

Watched W. Ham v Brentford , a cople of mid table sides serving up fast, attacking, fearless football like we could only dream of . Except that we used to play something akin to that .

I wonder if I’ll ever see it again in my lifetime ?

What we are reduced to would make you greet . I wonder if it bothers those responsible half as much as it bothers the average supporter ?

  11. the bada bing

No not for Trump. But either way I’m glad we avoided that particular scenario.

  12. CM- Starmer knows when Trump backs Farage, his political career is finished, but agree it would have been awkward

  13. So who is the mug?

–You are.nowhere is a racist scumbag like you principle

    –you opted out of Celtic

    The EU is for Tories.

Youd think youd have a hobby by now.

    20 years of not attending

  14. the bada bing

No, I was thinking more of the scenario where it was us that had had to play host to Maccabi Tel Aviv

Would GCC have made the same decision as Birmingham?

No, Starmer was bending over for Bibi on this one, Nandy was set up as a stooge. I gather Maccabi have released follow up statement re their own ticket ban, haven’t read it but I could write it….

  15. Danny does walking away – and walking back again ;))

Wonder if he’s on a RohlOver contract ?

  16. Never mind Knutsen, what about getting the manager from Mjällby AIF, a team from a village of 1700 people, who have just won the Swedish title?

  17. I saw a headline some where that DD has confirmed there will be NO change at board/exec level and that the “meeting” was a token gesture- any details or links to this story?

  18. I think the Collective have scored an own goal with that protest on Sunday.

I am four square behind them in what they are trying to do but frankly I think that looked a bit childish and ridiculous and they will lose support not gain it with stunts like that.

The people I have heard speak that are leading the group are bright, articulate and I’m actually surprised this was proposed and agreed

  19. Shocked but not surprised that the Collective have morphed into Green Brigade meets Glasgow Caley Students Union, all fired on by the clickbait bloggers desperate for attention (and revenue). Someone said Partick Thistle and Dundee FC were collateral damage. True, but so is the Celtic team and hence the club. Well done guys, keep driving us down, weakening players’ morale and reducing the club’s income. At precisely the point when the players need wholehearted support. Not in my name.

  20. B78

You make a good point about the team during the majority of the Ange years and I agree that some of the football was off the seat stuff.

Of course there is a however. That side was bolstered by a group of players that were directly brought in from his first hand Japanese knowledge and other that were young, hungry and fresh. A front line including Abada, Jota, Kyogo, GG, Meada and backed up by Reo and big Matty – wow no wonder we were good. It guess what slowly we sold them and not once was any replacement as good never mind better. Others lost a little early hunger, others should have been moved at the optimum time and none of this happened. The 2023 window that was probably to replace some of these guys was an absolute shambles and we have never recovered with players getting older and some of those that should have been moved on still there. The squad management has been a disaster and without forensics of who was where when blah blah blah I hope we can agree on that. Ultimately the management of the club falls on the executive and it is surely not to much to ask that they have an understanding of how the industry works and should have seen this in the post. Whoever was not doing what was required should have had their arse kicked either into gear or out the door or perhaps a few more pounds, of which we had plenty, was needed to grease the wheels – we did neither.

There has been a gross failure in the management of our squad since summer 2023 and no one has fixed it. The combination of BR/PT and the “club” signings is an unhelpful and the tight fisted, unrealistic snails pace operation of our trading is shambolic.

When the team fails the manager pays the price and be sacked and so he should if this continues and the exec should have the balls to do it if it is the best for the team. The same fate should follow for the exec/board who have directed, watched and participated in the self harm we are currently witnessing.

  21. I see that Rohl in his ‘unveiling picture’ is wearing a suitably staunch shirt and tie, however he has a beard, very dodgy, if he loses his frst game in charge that will need to go, otherwise he’ll never convince the hoardes!

  22. I have serious concerns about many of our upcoming games, as we are NOT Scoring enough and we are losing goals into the bargain.

Every team will fancy their chances against us for the foreseeable future ?

I sincerely hope that Brendan and The Bhoys will prove me wrong ?

    HH.

    …..

Agree entirely with your take on what’s gone on in the last couple of seasons , I can sense a but coming on , but for me we should be better (much better) than we’re currently displaying. For me the manager is responsible and should be replaced, looks like we’ll need to wait until the end of the season.

Nightmare scenario is we have a totally crap season and Brendon blags his way to a new contract with control over everything, player transfers, paperclips , and we work our way through the cash pile in double quick time, in an incoherent muddled fashion …

If Brendan suggested this he’s stitched his captain up

If it’s Callums thoughts it’s not very helpful and almost certain to backfire on him

It’s a funny way of trying to bring harmony to the club – suggest that other people are responsible for your failings

The team need full support from the fans, if they think he’s blaming them for the poor performances they will turn on him and the game really will be a bogey.

If he’s blaming the board for the disharmony then he’s adding fuel to the fire. No one will thank him for it.

It could all be completely innocent in which case hes sounding like a loser and people will think he’s taking them for fools

Callum is a Celtics legend and a serial winner but he’s got caught up in something thats become bigger than winning football matches for a lot of people.

It’s time for a bit of calm and quiet and people getting their heads down. Unfortunately I don’t think that suits everyone’s purpose

    Good point, M17.

To be clear, I don’t know anyone on the collective directly.

Some of those involved though – from their previous articulations – would appear to know how to organise a proverbial in a brewery.

My prediction? (Genuinely no smugness here)

Collective will fail for a few reasons, not least of which will be the lowest common denominator – among too large a group to begin with – dragging the brains trust down.
