CARTER-VICKERS FIRES WARNING

JOE HART didn’t have a single save to make in Celtic’s 2-0 win over Hearts at Parkhead yesterday.

The 35-year-old 75 times-capped England international keeper could have caught up with his Sunday reading such was the effectiveness of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Co in front of him.

Hart has required to fish the ball out of his net on only one occasion in the four league outings so far this season, Alex Iacavetti’s consolation effort for Ross County in the Hoops’ 3-1 win in Dingwall just over a fortnight ago.

HERE WE KYOGO AGAIN…the Japanese hitman fires in the opener against Hearts after great service from Daizen Maeda, grounded on the right.

The inspirational £1million buy from Spurs a year ago has kept clean sheets against Aberdeen (2-0), Kilmarnock (5-0) and put up the shutters once more against Robbie Neilson’s Tynecastle outfit.

Carter-Vickers was solid again alongside on-loan Moritz Jenz in the middle of the rearguard while Josip Juranovic and the impressive Greg Taylor went about their wide roles with a verve and relish.

The US international centre-back reflected on the latest triumph and fired a warning as he said: “We maybe didn’t control the game the way we normally do, but, in saying that, I thought we defended our box well and dealt with the threats they had.

“And, of course, we had enough quality to get a goal or two for ourselves.

TOUCH AND GO…Giorgos Giakoumakis knocks in the second past keeper Ross Stewart with Filipe Jota getting a close-up view.

“That’s important because you can’t always be at your best and you can’t always dominate games, but when you don’t, you’ve got to stay with it and grind it out a little bit.

“The first goal was a good run and cross from Daizen and a good finish from Kyogo, so it was a good goal and that’s the quality we do have to hurt teams.”

Carter-Vickers is not getting carried away with the champions’ 100 per cent record that sees them sitting on top of the Premiership and he told the Celtic website: “We’ve started well, but it’s still very early in the season.

“There’s still a long way to go, so we just want to keep improving game by game and see where we end up.”

Next up for Ange Postecoglou’s champions is a trip to take on Jack Ross’ struggling Dundee United side at Tannadice on Sunday with a midday kick-off.
