It wasn’t just that delicious through ball for Aberdeen’s first goal on Saturday which should be an eye-opener for Celtic. They tried the tactic repeatedly, as Celtic relied on the speed of Liam Scales and Alistair Johnston to recover the situation.
Celtic regularly commit eight men to attacking positions. On occasion against Aberdeen, we saw the deepest Celtic defender 70 yards from his own goal. This works if the opponent does not possess great speed in attack, or if they cannot coordinate a sublime pass and a run from deep. But after recent games, you can be sure that every side planning to face Celtic will develop a plan to exploit this setup. I fear for us in Bergamo if Atalanta enjoy such freedoms.
In the early 80s, the joke was that Rangers season ended before Blackpool’s – referring to the town’s tourist trade, not the football club. Blackpool now run their Illuminations season into November, which gives Newco a few more weeks of hope before finishing ahead of Blackpool.
They appointed a new manager in October or early November in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Phiilippe Clement, the latest saviour-turned-charlatan’s best hope of survival is that there is literally no executive directors in charge of the club capable of making a material decision.
All of this melodrama is unnecessary and wasteful. They will continue to loop in sequences of hope and despair until they face the harsh reality. Competing with a very well run, financially stronger, opponent, is difficult and cannot be achieved without incredible luck, rule breaking or dangerous risk taking.
Incredible luck happens in sport and remains Newco’s best hope for short-term success. Rule breaking has been tried and was successful at Ibrox, but with chronic consequences.
Dangerous risk taking is the order of the day there now. The consequences will not be liquidation and a ‘Rangers 3.0’ phoenix , but it could mean seasons of mid-table finishes, like version 1.0 saw when we first heard that Blackpool joke.
Live within your means, lads. It’s not going to make you popular with the fans, but it sure is worth it!

With 3 of your back 4 favouring their left foot……..it’s not right.
My friends in Celtic,
Jet lag is real, especially if you fly through more than 3 time zones.
London to Japan entails travelling through 6 time zones.
One of the many real symptoms of Jet Lag is impared mental or physical performance.
Give Our Japanese bhoys a break. The pertinent question should be:- Why did we play them on Saturday

Agreed We have seen enough evidence of it

Most supporters want a 3pm Saturday kickoff.
We have a big enough squad to leave Maeda and Hatate on the bench to start with.
Saturday gave us an extra day to prepare for Alalanta. Which we’ll need 😱
Ally acoustic wants the handball rule changed so that Aberdeens goal stands. He is not anti celtic because Jeff Stelling agrees. They want them scoring with their hands at one end & keeping them out with their hands at the other end.. only against celtic ofcourse but, they’re not anti celtic
Wednesday night is where we want to be. European football refreshes the parts that domestic football cannot.
It is the prize for a seasons work and success. It is to be cherished.
We want and deserve to be amongst the big boys. Play our strongest team with no exceptions.
We are a good team who can punch above our weight when necessary.
Lets go out and prove it.

My guess is Brendan would have asked the pair on Friday if they felt fit and able to start on Saturday and knowing the mentality of the typical footballer, they would have said yes we are rarin to go.
Not saying I agree with this strategy. Just putting it forward as the reason they were picked.
Anyone know if there is any truth in this( Unlikely considering the source :-)) )
Atalanta will head into the Champions League meeting with Celtic without six of their key players through injury. (Daily Record)
They say they’re more than a club – no just a commodity

Hot smoked
If so they’ll have another 6 who can adequately stand in.

Yip. Sad.
Pimping their wares across the globe.
NFL we’re probably the first. They won’t be the last.
New stadium needs paying for I suppose.
Six injured?
Does that mean they’ll start the game with five players?
Wonder what odds you can get on a Celtic victory?

You make a valid point, there is no doubt as to the affects of such long journeys. However as Tom McLaughlin on 22nd October 2024 9:49 am says, the players would have been asked and assessed beforehand. Hatate scored a great goal and showed no ill effects, he would have been scheduled for the ‘hook’ on sixty minutes.
I think we fielded the right team at the start and it established a two-goal lead that should have allowed us to make targeted changes on the hour mark and see the game out, maybe adding another goal ,or two in the last quarter. No one in the ground, including the manager, expected a meltdown in the twenty-five minutes after the break as Aberdeen had been toothless for forty-five minutes.
Lessons will have been learned and the result, after Kilmarnock’s win, can be taken in our stride. HH
Two years ago to the day in its debut at Tynecastle VAR and Nick Walsh patched a Celtic stonewaller.

Two years ago today Celtic won 4-3 at Tynecastle in a cracking match.
The Japanese players did not play badly on Saturday- only Daizen did.
50% of the Japanese players, who travelled far, played badly.
50% of the Japanese players, who travelled far, played well.
and only 33% of our Japanese boys played badly.
