CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS is heading for a three-game spell on the sidelines as Brendan Rodgers plans Celtic’s journey to Hampden a fortnight on Saturday.
The pivotal defensive stalwart played in the champions’ 1-1 stalemate at Ibrox yesterday and came through unscathed following 97 minutes of a typical Glasgow derby.
However, Rodgers is now contemplating some rest and recuperation for the 27-year-old USA international centre-back as he looks ahead to the Scottish Cup Final against Aberdeen.
RISE AND SHINE…Cameron Carter-Vickers outjumps Leon Balogun to a high ball to put pressure on the Ibrox defence in the 1-1 stalemate in Govan.
The Hoops gaffer could now bring in forgotten man Maik Nawrocki for the league encounters against Hibs at Parkhead on Saturday, the Dons at Pittodrie four days later before the curtain comes down on another successful campaign with the Flag Day meeting against St Mirren in Paradise in 12 days’ time.
Then his concentration will turn to the soccer showpiece in the grand finale against Jimmy Thelin’s side where the club are on the cusp of a sixth treble in nine phenomenal years.
Rodgers, speaking to Celtic TV, admitted: “We have one or two players who we have to try and get available for the Cup Final.
“Cameron Carter-Vickers will probably come out after this game. He needs an injection on a hamstring injury that he’s been having.
“The idea now is to get through to the Cup Final in the best possible place, having players available, keep the performance level going and look to see if we can finish the season off in style.”
