CELT HEADS FOR EXIT – AGAIN

FROZEN-OUT Celt Jack Hendry is heading for the Hoops exit – for the second time in seven months.

The £1.2million misfit defender is poised to sign a one-year loan deal with KVV Oostende, according to a report in the Daily Record.

The Scottish international, who was bought by ex-boss Brendan Rodgers from Dundee in January 2018, will have a medical in Belgium today and is expected to complete the switch within 24 hours.

The 25-year-old is looking to get his career back on track after injury wrecked his temporary move to Aussie outfit Melbourne City at the turn of the year.

Hendry had to undergo surgery after sustaining a serious knee injury in only his second A-League appearance.

He is now back to full fitness and was training with the champions at Lennoxtown before Neil Lennon took the squad to Loughborough before they fly to France today for their three games against Nice, Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain.

The player clearly does not figure in the Parkhead gaffer’s plans and made only a fleeting appearance as a second-half substitute for debutant Jeremie Frimpong in the 5-0 Betfred League Cup win over Partick Thistle last September.

Hendry is hoping his exposure in the Jupiler Pro-League will get him back in focus.

The versatile back-four operator, who can play right-back and centre-half, knocked back offers of a loan deal with clubs in Scotland to try his luck in Belgium.

He will be the fourth defender to leave the Hoops this summer with Jozo Simunovic, Jonny Hayes and Calvin Miller quitting at the end of their contracts.

Goalkeeper Craig Gordon, after only six appearances, rejoined Hearts on a two-year deal when he became a free agent.
