Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

1111

Celtic surrendered another two points to fall further behind in the championship race, drawing 0-0 at home against Hibernian.  It was a unorganised looking performance from the home team who gave Graham Stack little to do in the Hibernian goal.

Gary Hooper squandered Celtic’s only gilt-edged chance of the game when, after playing a one-two with Anthony Stokes, he struck the outside of the post with Ki available for the square pass.  Anthony Stokes had earlier tested Stack, who failed to hold the ball but did enough to clear.

When the same teams met on Wednesday James Forrest transformed the game when he drifted inside but he spent most of today’s game adrift on the right wing.  On two occasions he cut inside with purpose, once testing Stack with a blistering shot from 22 yards and later when a 25 yard pile-drive struck the crossbar, but Hibs were content to limit Celtic to such speculative efforts.

Neil Lennon was justified in his criticism of his front pairing of Stokes and Hooper today but Celtic were equally clueless in midfield.  There appeared to be no cohesion and there was certainly not a productive match plan.

Motherwell’s away win in Inverness gives the Lanarkshire side a three point lead, having played a game more, going into next week’s crucial game against Celtic at Fir Park.  Manager-less St Johnstone dropped three points at home this afternoon, leaving them four points behind Celtic in the fight for the last Europa League place.

This is where we are people, scrapping between Motherwell and St Johnstone. Get used to it.

Have you asked your doctor to refer you to the pain management clinic. I know there’s one in the Victoria.

I think you are both correct.

I will stick with Neil. For the sake of everything that Celtic stand for,we must.

Otherwise we are no longer in control of our own destiny and agenda, and the bad guys win.

    Anytime they feel like……

I think we both know that the strategy if there is one hasn’t worked for the past 4 years. We both also know that the strategy will have to change in the next few weeks as the fabric of Scottish football changes forever. The question is do we trust those in charge to form a strategy to deal with the aftermath? The fans need answers soon.

  7. Paul,

I always read your articles carefully. There is often a wee subjective thought in among the factual stuff.

So I am wondering what you meant by ‘getting used to it’?

We have the highest paid squad in the league. We have (I believe) the best set of players. We are continually getting outplayed in midfield by teams that are in the poverty league.

Do you have any thoughts on what is going on at Lennoxtown these days?

  8. Paddy Gallagher,

I’m not trying to defend the current members of the 1st XI. I just don’t want the young lhads, like Paul George, who looks a real player, being kicked out of the game. The only player I can think of in the current squad who would offer them any support and protection is Brown, who might not get another game, the way things are going.

  9. Paul 67

What the hell do you mean “get used to it?”. Just sit and do nothing and allow this mediocrity to prevail indefinitely? I find your apparent apathy shocking and more than a little patronising. That poison from the other side of the city are on their knees yet they’re laughing at us tonight. It’s stomach churning.

And you suggest we get used to it. I thought you were so much better than that.

he gave me a telephone number for physio.. waste of time…

You make it sound like todays game is blip in an otherwise great season.

    It was another crap performance,

    by a crap football team,

consolidated by more crap decisions by the manager.

    During a totally crap season.

The most sensible post I have seen on here tonight.

I have been banging on about John Robertson, imo he would turn things around.

  13. I was in the GB section and saw that the polis had their eye on somebody with around 85 minutes of the game gone- they called for reinforcements and then around 15 of them tried a pincer movement to get into the middle of the GB- every time they actually tried to get into the rows the GB would start jumping up and down and eventually the polis backed off- but just to inside the exit tunnel- there was around 12 of them in there when the whistle went- with another 3-4 outside filming the section throughout- my guess is that they decided not to let anymore people see their snatch squad in action, planning to grab their victims as they made their way out- Just their way of showing their their opinion on the fans against criminalisation protest

  14. blantyretim

Cool, think I’ll refer myself to the pain management clinic if I’ve to watch a performance like that again

You’re getting a wee bit excited. The team can play we’ve seen it. Only four days ago we seen 45 minutes of good stuff. And the week before competing with a team battling for tge lead in la ligue. How to get them to play like that all the time is the question?

  19. lenny is part of the problem, he is not the problem if we move him out then bring in an experienced manager and continue to seek out good young player’s we’ll have the same problem, we need better player, we need real investment, we can manage a 20 million soft loan, we cant afford another crap season. but does DD OR PL care?, not from where i’am sitting
