CELTIC £3.5m BID BOOTED OUT

CELTIC have failed in a £3.5million bid for Aberdeen’s Scotland international centre-back Scott McKenna.

The Dons booted out the offer yesterday and claimed they value their 21-year-old defender at a staggering £10million!

McKenna, who is currently injured with a hamstring strain following the 1-1 draw with Sevco Rangers in the opening Premiership game of the campaign, has also attracted moves from Swansea and Hull City.

The Championship outfits were also told “no deal” by the Pittodrie hierarchy who insist their rising star will not be sold during this month’s transfer window.

McKenna’s valuation soared after international boss Alex McLeish drafted the stopper in to the Scotland squad last season where he made his debut in the 1-0 loss to Costa Rica at Hampden.

Brendan Rodgers is looking to strengthen the heart of the team’s rearguard before the transfer deadline in nine days’ time.

He also faces the prospect of Dedryck Boyata being sold within that time scale with Sevilla tipped as the Belgian’s most likely destination.
