LUIS PALMA has been linked to a January switch to the MLS when the transfer window re-opens.
The Honduran international winger, who cost £3million when he arrived from Greek club Aris Thessaloniki last summer, is attracting interest from the American top-flight, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.
Greek striker Giorgos Giakoumakis moved to Atalanta in February 2023 while Israeli forward Liel Abada signed for Charlotte FC earlier this year.
Palma has rarely been seen this season and was missing from Brendan Rodgers’ squad for the 5-0 weekend win over Ross County, the 24-year-old touchline star’s third consecutive first-team no-show.
SMILES BETTER…Luis Palma congratulates Anthony Ralston after the defender’s goal in the 4-0 win over Kilmarnock at Parkhead on the opening day of the season in August.
The Hoops gaffer is spoiled for choice in the squad’s wide areas with Nicolas Kuhn, Daizen Maeda, James Forrest and Yang Hyun-jun ahead of the frozen-out international who scored two goals for his country against Mexico in the recent break.
Apparently, there is also interest from Europe, but Palma has a high profile in The States and he could follow the lead of Giakoumakis and Abada and head over The Pond.
Palma has yet to join the champions’ goal parade this term with the team hoisting their league total to 40 in the romp over the Highlanders in their 13th Premiership outing while they have also rattled in 14 in three Premier Sports League Cup-ties.
He claimed 10 in his debut campaign – including the winner in the last league game of the season, the 3-2 victory over St Mirren – but struggled for game-time in the latter stages of the crusade.
Palma looked sharp during the Hoops’ pre-season tour of America and scored an outstanding goal in the 4-1 win over Chelsea.
