It was the Gary Hooper show as a five goal performance by Scottish football’s top scorer this season lit up a wet and windy Celtic Park on trophy day. Two poachers’ goals inside the opening 8 minutes had the capacity crowd celebrating. The opener came after Hearts’ keeper Jamie MacDonald saved a Kris Commons shot but Hooper was on hand to knock home the rebound.
The crowd had only just settled from that goal when Georgios Samaras broke down the left channel and squared a pass for Hooper to knock into the empty net.
Celtic were awarded a penalty six minutes before the break when Joe Ledley had his ankle clipped inside the box. Gary Hooper, not a prodigious scorer from the spot, smashed the ball straight down the middle and into the net.
David Templeton was unable to hit the target midway through the second half with what turned out to be Hearts only attempt at goal all game.
Hearts conceded cheaply on 66 minutes when Kris Commons found the unmarked Hooper inside the box who gratefully converted for his fourth.
By now it was all about whether we would see Hooper score a fifth, a feat most of us had never witnessed by a Celtic player before. He duly obliged two minutes from time when he rounded the exposed MacDonald and slotted the ball home before the late-arriving surge of Hearts defenders.

Gene’s a Bhoy’s Name,
No doubt agents get up to all kinds of mischief. However, the latest chatter in the wind wasn’t the work of agents. The media know all about lots of dirty deeds but can’t say in the absence of the support of witnesses. Others in the media just won’t say. And never will.
This is the challenge Mark Daly faces, getting witnesses to go on the record.
I remember the bear scoring 5 against Aberdeen in January 65. The pitch was an ice rink and was surrounded by piles of hay, which was frequently used before covers or undersoil heating. Most of the players wore boots and couldnt cope. Big Yogi wore baseball boots (trainers of that era) and ran amok. Celtic won 8-0 and the crowd was only 13000 (according to the Celtic Companion)

Awkward moment – when the people’s tenor launched into another unexpected verse of YNWA. Do we put our scarves up again? Yeah, okay.
Fav moment #2 – Paddy jinking round the Hearts attack at our own corner flag. Yasss!!!!

It’s noisy here….
Someone asked for a bar on the Costa Del Sol to watch the game today and was told the Cunard Bar.
I,ve watched a few Celtic matches there. Its on calle bulto in the carihuela district.
The last match i saw was the famous (infamous) joust with killie last year.
Actually most bars will show games on sky and especially if its in the touristy areas.
Oh by the way I think we won the league today(again)

phil
which players are going to be released any idea,s lenny was hinting that kelvin wilson could be staying, i hope not ,loovens and big dan are well ahead of him. dont rate wilson at all
Surely now we should name a stand or rename our training
ground after Fergus Mc Cann.
Someone at the game today said to me that the Board were going to ask Fergus to unfurl the flag ….. I think it is something we should urge the Board to do anyway (Fergus and, or, Brian Quinn)…..
According to Billy Dodds on shortbread today one of the orcs goals was goal of the season!!! Not sure about that one Billy!
Why we on 2nd btw???
