It was the Gary Hooper show as a five goal performance by Scottish football’s top scorer this season lit up a wet and windy Celtic Park on trophy day. Two poachers’ goals inside the opening 8 minutes had the capacity crowd celebrating. The opener came after Hearts’ keeper Jamie MacDonald saved a Kris Commons shot but Hooper was on hand to knock home the rebound.
The crowd had only just settled from that goal when Georgios Samaras broke down the left channel and squared a pass for Hooper to knock into the empty net.
Celtic were awarded a penalty six minutes before the break when Joe Ledley had his ankle clipped inside the box. Gary Hooper, not a prodigious scorer from the spot, smashed the ball straight down the middle and into the net.
David Templeton was unable to hit the target midway through the second half with what turned out to be Hearts only attempt at goal all game.
Hearts conceded cheaply on 66 minutes when Kris Commons found the unmarked Hooper inside the box who gratefully converted for his fourth.
By now it was all about whether we would see Hooper score a fifth, a feat most of us had never witnessed by a Celtic player before. He duly obliged two minutes from time when he rounded the exposed MacDonald and slotted the ball home before the late-arriving surge of Hearts defenders.

Muchos Gracias amigos

Well done to City. It wouldn’t have been a case of this had Man U not had their plethora of honest mistakes to keep the pace.
Roon you Ferguson. Time to retire.
Football eh? Bloody ‘ell.
No group of fans wanted it more.
None deserved it more.
Congrats City fans…
What a finish to that game there.
Well done to the bhoys today.
Hail Hail
That wee glimpse of Fergies coupon was priceless after they thought theyd done it.
Hoops lift the league trophy, followed by Swalex getting the biggest kick ever in the Haw Maws….Super Sunday!
Can I cancel Sky Sports now?

Aint it great to be a Tim?
Sanna
The dug is going mental cos he hears me shouting/screaming/singing………
‘Hey it’s great to be a Tim eh! Championees, Championees………The world is Green and White’
Excited, happy, dancing, barking; just like me at times, chasing his tail….. C’mon the hoops…….Broonie, Broonie, Broonie……….
He (the dug) is a dirty white Alsatian (or cross German Shepherd dog for the canine PC brigade) who goes by the name of Broonie but his Sunday name is Scott, well according to my slightly better looking other half, as she in her dulcet tones calls ‘Scottie, Scottie, good bhoy, Scott’ …………
The visiting vet (LA educated, nonetheless, she never understood a word I said in my poshest south-side accent) last summer was totally confused…………… Long story!!!
Anyway, wherever you are in the world, I am sure that there are similar goings on being recounted today…….
Should really be in bed at this time but well maybe another bottle of local brew and when the dug stops his howling, I might slumber in to that fitful land of which they know not………. And they never will (unless they change), for it is reserved for the good of heart…….
JR, that mentioned St. Convals earlier……
My first and last stop when home……..
And a wee half in Jean Gebbie’s for my Da………
Regards & Hail Hail

Both Manchester clubs 19 points ahead of the 3rd club Arsenal.
The Premiership is now definitely a 2 team league.
City… meh!
Thanks what a billion pounds buys you.
Where’s the glory in that?
Am I right in thinking that City got promotion a couple of hours before we drew with Dunfermline to delay stopping 10 in a row?
I have vague recollections of being in a pub car-park or beer garden in Dunfermline listeining to the radio from someone’s car.
It will be interesting to see how Man Utd react to this.
Giggs and Scholes will be bit part next season if that and they cannot outwage City.
How willl their support take to downsizing?
(They will not be the only ones)
ItaliaBhoy
Totally agree with you.
Laurels for Neil and Roberto.
Size nines to the collective nads of Sally and Swalex.
as for the real big game today, thank you NEIL!!!
Hooper was at his clinical best, what a player!!
So happy to see Neil finally lift that trophy!!
Yeeeehhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrr.
That is all.
well done City , have cousins there today first title in their lifetime
party both sides of the border today !!!!!
Auldheid
This is the worst Man U team in 20 years. Basle gave them the run around.
City had 59 shots today, BTW.
Celtic champions!
Shame Owen Coyle may lose his job now he has taken Bolton Wanderers down to the Championship. H.H.

Personally I dont give a feck about the EPL.
I have sympathy with both Liverpool teams as I have mates there and I enjoy visiting the city. I used to watch West Ham when I lived in London so I like to see them do well. However when compared to Celtic they dont come remotely close.
Like many Celtics results affect me much more than can be healthy but having a right few quid by my standards lets me get excited at the unravelling of the days
events down south.
Enjoyingthedaycsc.

Been a very good day.
Just checked my bet365 balance and thanks to Hoops wining the golden boot, City wining the league, my balance has escalated, I’d forgot about Hoops, put the bet on way before Jellylegs left.
And to cap it off, the wife got her birthday pressi today at the car boot sale this morning, a wee white dog, she is over the moon, even better it was free :>)))

Thank the Lord – or in this case the “Kun”
Once got warned and almost thrown out of a pub in my home town the week after City had signed Aguero. Their game was on the TV and I walked in and shouted C’mon city, get the Kun on.
Luckily, I’m well known for visiting South America and Argentina in particular as my Father lives in Buenos Aires – so I was able to explain Aguero’s nickname is Kun.
Italiabhoy/EDB – the drama was amazing, reminded me of a few Hoops finishes from the past. Happy for the City fans, but as I said earlier both Manchester clubs are FFP cheats.
We can only hope for the great level playing field….aye right!

re aguero
i met a fella few weeks back
a guy that knows diego
says yer man aguero dislikes manchester – too cold for him
says he’s hopin to join real madrid instead
let’s see
hail hail
we signed anyone yet ?
lets go pedro !
I may be wrong in this, but at the time NL came in to replace BTM, the Orcs were way ahead in the league.Neil then beat them in the next league game to reduce the final deficit to 6 points. I wouls swear that if Rangers had been more than 10 points ahead they would have gone for administration at the end of that season.Anybody know anything about that scenario?
