Celtic swept St Mirren aside this afternoon as a hat-trick from Gary Hooper and goals from Georgios Samaras and Dylan McGeough
Celtic came roaring out of the traps and blew St Mirren away this afternoon. Georgios Samaras got the show underway on 4 minutes when he collected the ball after Marc McAusland failed to make a clean connection on the ball. Samaras still had a lot to do and carried the ball into the box. With defenders closing in from all around the Greek striker placed his shot instead of going for power. St Mirren keeper, Craig Samson got a hand to the shot but the ball spun slowly towards goal and settled 8” over the line.
Four minutes later, a clearly confident Samaras drove into the St Mirren penalty box before cutting the ball left for Anthony Stokes, who’s fired cross was turned over the line from 3 yards by Gary Hooper.
Samaras was running the show but was hampered by a knock to the ankle which he took a few moments to recover from. This coincided with St Mirren’s best period of play as the visitors gained more possession and territorial advantage in the period before half time.
Celtic started the second half just as brightly as they did the first as Hooper and Kayal could both have added to the score, however, the third would arrive 8 minutes into the second half. Victor Wanyama played an excellent forward pass to Stokes who hit the goal line before cutting back for Gary Hooper. Hooper collected with his back to goal but spun and shot in a sweeping move that left Samson with no chance.
Hooper completed his hat-trick on 57 minutes when he tried to play a one-two with Stokes but the ball was returned by a defender, allowing him to chip the on-rushing Samson.
18-year-old Dylan McGeough made his first impact as a Celtic player minutes after replacing James Forrest when he collected the ball 10 yards in front of his own box, ran 70 yards into the St Mirren box, before creating space and despatching Celtic’s fifth goal. An unforgettable moment for the young player.

Diawara will NOT be coming to Celtic.

Well said. Some people are never happy.
The young lad we’re getting free from Rosenborg according to Vidar Riseth is well worth £3 million had his contract not ended.
Cheapskates R Us for not paying the £3 million in some eyes.
In a much better mood than I was after the game Wednesday – we took our chances today.
All round team performance – awareness, movement and finishing.
Pleased for Sammi, Hooper and young Dylan (what a goal).
Good feeling walking down the road after the game (despite rain and wind) – everyone chatting, raving about goals, smiling……….. more of the same Celtic!

It’s still a young team that will only get better. Good stuff. Why do I get the feeling that the external attacks on our Club will see another spike this week though, eh….
What a performance, very difficult to single any players out as from 1-11, they all played well
OK, special mentions to Matthews, Loovens, Victor, Sammi, Stokes & Hooper
Very special mention to young Dylan
Other very special mention to tha fans, weather looked horrible, well done (in particular the support shown to the Mulgrew family)
Only disappointment, Bangura looks a tad off the pace
Cmon u bhoys in green. Many highlights today.
Sammi playing well and scoring (I know that’s all folks for a while)
Hoops hattrick
Some great performances-Ledley, Wanyama et
big Kingoh and the main stand eventually signing back to the GB
long way to go but indeed a happy clapping night.

Well done Celtic I thought it would be a tough game with us winning by 2 goals, we were soooo much better than that and I hope we can keep the run going until way into the new year….. about May will do.

Dylan’s superb solo effort.
How could I miss this off my list?
Wow it doesn’t get much better than that!!
The Celtic support, magnificent today now keep that going even when things are going against us.
Big Vic, for 20 years of age you have the maturity, and ability, of a man a good deal older.
Joe Ledley, the model of consistency.
Young Dylan so pleased for ye wee man. I taught ye everything you know :))
Great stuff
upwards and forwards
Eldiego… What do you mean by that? I was just saying that we were heavily interested in bangura and baba … Baba I scoring for fun in the portugese league and bangura stated his desire to play in the premiership 3 days after signing!!!
Problem for him is he looks terrible!
But! Here’s hoping he turns the corner and starts banging them in
How can anyone be happy with today’s performance and goals.
Do none of you know we are still 4 points behind in the league.
MWD who hates being 2nd except for when it allows me to moan about being 2nd cause moaning makes me happier than the feeling of happiness I’d get if we were first.

Sammi deserves a post of his own.
Brilliant big man. Lenny got it right in his interview, you set the tone and the others followed. It fair clamped the diddy behind me who boos even when you’ve yet to kick a ball in a game :)

To be fair most of my movement at the fives is hurtling off your tackles. :-)
I cannot claim that Bangura has shone but, let’s be fair, he played 15 minutes and did nothing wrong today as he came back early from injury. He contributed a lot of hard work to our comeback at Rugby Park but I agree that early indications are that he is a “rummel- em up hard running” forward, rather than a smooth link up man. I would like to see what he is like after his first goal. It is hard to believe that Henrik invented his qualities.

I was working nightshift last night so was reading late night posts in total sobriety well into the wee hours.
You seemed to have had a good night:o)
A good ole fashioned 5-0 pumping.

Neil is an incredible young man and the way he has came through what he has, is nothing short of miraculous.
This is his young team and they are very promising, the focus was lost for a bit at the start of this season but they now look like they are going through the gears again, in all the areas of the pitch.
Theres no doubt the external attacks will continue but we can expose these things and unite even further so we become even stronger.
The team was a bit older today as its average age was just under 24. ;)

I dont want to be negative after such a good result but we should enjoy watching big Victor when we can.If this young man continues to play as well as he has been doing he will be purchased for big big money from on of the European giants the young man is that good.H.H.
I believe Victor is the player Chelsea thought they had when they bought Obi-Mickael
He, ahead of Forrest, Kayal, Ki, Brown, Hooper, Ledley – will the main attraction for EPL teams
I believe he will just only get better

is it possible for both teams to get humped?

I have posted more than once on this site that
a) its time for Neil to go – but go with dignity
b) Samaras – just not good enough
Has my view changed ??
in a word NO
However I am delighted that NL has the team playing and doing what it should be doing and rolling over inferior teams
I do sense a better atmosphere within our team and I do sense that they are playing for each other – and – the manager
But I am not going to get carried away with wins over ICT Dunfermline and St Mirren
in December we have a few (on paper) harder games – Hearts – Dundee Utd – and THEM
Should we win all our games in December we will go on and win the league
As for Samaras – he has been much improved over the last month – IMO he still under-performs
But credit where it is due – he is much better
So to one and all this is the first bite of me eating Humble Pie
No one would be more delighted should Celtic win the league and Samaras scores a hat trick against THEM – this “Happy Clapper” will eat a whole humble pie with a smile
Hail Hail to one and all

:) That auld git Joe Ledley raising our team’s average age again? >:(
Or is it because Danny looked older with the Awe Naw No An Annoni Goatee Awnaw Noo.

I wonder if we could boost Victor’s desire to stay a while by signing his higher rated brother, Mariga McDonald, who is on loan at Sociedad from Inter. Maybe he would fancy helping his wee bro win a title rather than struggle to beat relegation in La Liga. If not, there are two other brothers playing for Kenyan clubs we should look at.
JFH at 18.55
I could not agree more!, he is a star.
Just back from the match, great performance and a wonder debut goal from a future star in Aidens old Shirt Number, congratulations Dylan, wonder if his dad liked the magic roundabout?
GB in great voice and the atmosphere was fantastic, I have said alll along to anyone who would take the time to listen that we have very good team in the making, the average without big Dan is about 22, consider the injuries we have had and the young men trying to find consistancy under the pressure of playing for a huge club who expect victory at every game.
Victor is the find of the season, he will get better and better, consider this young man is only 20 years of age and coming to a new country which has a more physical and quicker paced league than he as experienced to date.
We have players coming back and perhaps a signing or two in January, the manky mob will implode at some point believe me, their fans are glory hunting bigots who will get on their case as soon as things begin to go pear shaped, and it will happen at some point soon.
Enjoy the evening fellow bhoys and ghirls, well done to my mate Eddie who called to say he couldnt make the game but had taken us to win 5 – 0 with a £10!!
Hail Hail and good luck to Killie tomorrow I feel a score draw is on the cards!
