Celtic swept St Mirren aside this afternoon as a hat-trick from Gary Hooper and goals from Georgios Samaras and Dylan McGeough
Celtic came roaring out of the traps and blew St Mirren away this afternoon. Georgios Samaras got the show underway on 4 minutes when he collected the ball after Marc McAusland failed to make a clean connection on the ball. Samaras still had a lot to do and carried the ball into the box. With defenders closing in from all around the Greek striker placed his shot instead of going for power. St Mirren keeper, Craig Samson got a hand to the shot but the ball spun slowly towards goal and settled 8” over the line.
Four minutes later, a clearly confident Samaras drove into the St Mirren penalty box before cutting the ball left for Anthony Stokes, who’s fired cross was turned over the line from 3 yards by Gary Hooper.
Samaras was running the show but was hampered by a knock to the ankle which he took a few moments to recover from. This coincided with St Mirren’s best period of play as the visitors gained more possession and territorial advantage in the period before half time.
Celtic started the second half just as brightly as they did the first as Hooper and Kayal could both have added to the score, however, the third would arrive 8 minutes into the second half. Victor Wanyama played an excellent forward pass to Stokes who hit the goal line before cutting back for Gary Hooper. Hooper collected with his back to goal but spun and shot in a sweeping move that left Samson with no chance.
Hooper completed his hat-trick on 57 minutes when he tried to play a one-two with Stokes but the ball was returned by a defender, allowing him to chip the on-rushing Samson.
18-year-old Dylan McGeough made his first impact as a Celtic player minutes after replacing James Forrest when he collected the ball 10 yards in front of his own box, ran 70 yards into the St Mirren box, before creating space and despatching Celtic’s fifth goal. An unforgettable moment for the young player.

Very well mate – purple patch big man. Watched the game in the Soliel then took my mother and Mrs G for a meal. Back home for X Factor now, well if the ladies want the ladies get: :-)
83′ 3-1 Real Madrid v Atletico
Meant to say , a big thank you to St Mirren for
trying to play football.
You will soon find out ,you are a disgrace to Scottish football
for not playing the wattie smith way.
Its great to see Sammy coming into a bit of form at long last, hopefully it lasts a few months. I see us maintaining our winning run, the team must be getting confidence in each other now. Agree re victor – what a find and a bit of muscle in the team. I still think we need a better keeper but big FF has been doing ok of late. things seem so much better when Celtic are playing well. Bring on the Spaniards.. could be another famous night at CP. Hail Hail
Saltires end Sevilla
I believe they were for all games.
Their not my stats so don’t know the breakdown.

Its not my name on the ‘hitlist’ its some of the others – he has single handedly, in one foul swoop taken an unecessary at an entire list of respected CQN bloggers.
Guy clearly hasnt a scooby.
What does CQN do in circumstances like this ?????

Great result and much better performance – pleased to see we are closing down opponents quicker.
Still have a problem with us taking the ball 20yards out from their box passing it all the way back only for big Dan to then blooter it up the pitch – that’s not what possession football is supposed to be about – some great performances though.
Please please couple more dropped points tomorrow and then we will see what fat sally is like. HH.
Today is what football is all about.
Thanks to the 89 bus otherwise i might
never have made it.

Glad you picked up on that – big Dan and Loovens are the worst possible culprits for that kind of thing.
I mentioned before but I wasnt able to take a proper analysis of the tactical formation today – did we line up in flat banks in defence, midfield and attack?
Was it a 4, then a 4 then a 2 – or was it a wee bit like how we started on Wednesday?
I went on the 69 bus once – didn’t know if I was coming or going.
Away for a pint , have a good one.
The thing with any young team and Celtic are a young team very often consistency of form is just not there it wouldnt surprise me if Celtic play brilliantly and beat Atletico Madrid. There again it wouldnt surprise me if it was all to much for them.We need to give them 100% support at all times the more we support them the more likely we are to get performances like todays.I know its hard when they are not playing well not to get on there case but Bhoys it doesnt help I noticed Kayal after the fourth goal gesturing to the crowd to up there support as he knows the team feed off that support the only thing they get when we are negative with them is more dispirited.
Canamalar,
If you’re lurking.
Surprised you haven’t been posting this here.

Aye, dunno wot was goin on there
On today… lot more mobility in terms of players running off the ball… we do this well goin forward, however its still a weakness when the attack stalls… the ball is then passed across midfield with forwards and forward midfielders a bit static – thats when we need the movement most.

I didnt want to respond while Truth was around but you’re right, as soon as it looks good for us they hate him more

Ooh Ah Samaras, ooh ah Samaras, ooh ah Samaras…
So chuffed for the Bhoy, I doff my cap to you, the abuse that you have taken has been terrible. To stick with it given the abuse you have taken says a lot for you rather than those that have put you down.
What a change to being booed onto the Park to the well deserved standing ovation you got coming off today. All hail to you…

Second penalty for Real Madrid. Second red card for Atlético, Godín is off.
Cristiano Ronaldo makes it 4-1.
81′ Godin sent off for altetico
down to 9 men
pen by ronaldo
4-1 to real
To be fair on Dan perhaps he blootered it up field as no one made themselves available.
Our off the ball movement still needs to be better

It may just be the rumour mill filling the relative vacuum, but I have heard separately from two serious very well connected people the rumour that people connected with Rangers are pursuing the purchase of Leyton Orient
This guy is usually spot on, and you’ve been saying it for a few weeks now…..

Brilliant story that’s what it’s all about indeed. Can just see the young lads face now, brilliant!!!!
My boy was 7 when i brought him over for the first time, we won that day too and Robbie Keane scored a penalty right in front of us AND after the game, Aiden McGeady stopped to sign an autograph and pose for a photo with my son outside the main stand.
My son has that photo taking pride of place in his room and every visitor is brought up to see the pic.
scottish rebel songs. Offensive?
Worth a read.
Oh and the Huns U-19’s pumped 2-0 by Hibs, in the battle for mid table mediocrity.
We have a top of the table clash v Minis tomorrow @ Barrowfield, will be a cracker.

*********************************
great story of the excitment of 1 young boy that will live long in his memory.
The support and how the team responded certainly cheered me up, just keep building the momentum
Played like a team unit today, Victor Wanyama for me MOM last two games. He hs played in two positions this week and dominated both of them.
A great find and someone to build on. Great to see Victor.
Sammi, Hoops and Dylan thanks for a great display in front of goal, a joy to watch.
More of the same, please.

Have you no shame?
Baby it’s cold outside.
Young Dylan McGeouch what a prospect what a goal.
Posted this before but a true story…whilst playing for the orcs at Murray Park having signed his pre-contract with the Bhoys, he was getting it tight from the few that had gathered. He took off his top and walked off.
Listening to radio on the way home in the car they were speaking to Dylan about his goal. He was asked if his family/friends were there today and how did he think they would be feeling. He informed the questioner that they would be chuffed, that all of his family were Celtic supporters.
Young Dylan, I am so glad I braved the elements today as the Team first and foremost played well. However, I am so pleased especially for watching your quite superb goal, good on you.
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!
