I was walking back from a game with my dad recently and we got counting how many times Celtic had won the league in our lifetimes. For me, it’s now 34. Only two more have been won in my dad’s lifetime. He’s 25 years older than me, and one of those two was won the year before I was born.
It is impossible for those of us who have only lived during the last 60 years to get our heads around how rare a Celtic title win was during the 40 years before Jock Stein arrived and reinvented the club. Whenever you read that our game has become “tedious”, fill your boots with how you and I are living through Generations of Domination like no team has ever dominated before, not even Stein’s great side.
By being such imperious champions, we have elevated Scottish football. League Cup wins by anyone but Celtic are celebrated like never before. The same is true for our League Cup wins, the value everyone else places on winning a trophy seeps into our sense of achievement. There are no lesser trophies in Scotland now, because Celtic create such scarcity.
Sport thrives with great champions, they pack stadiums, set standards for others to chase and inspire the next generation. They will never admit it, but Celtic are a gift to every other team in Scotland.
Congratulations to Brendan, the players, the board, the backroom team and every last person who cheered the team along this season. Champions again!

Brendan 😁
What is the criteria when selecting `Player of the Year`?
Having consistently good games for a team which is of a much lower standard than Celtic is not the same as having consistently good games for , demonstrably, the best team in the League.
good to hear you get to spend time with your dad paul67.
3 celts and a n other as playwr of the year. Celtic players cannot vote for a team mate. If the vote for the Celts is split then 30% for Murray could win it. I have always liked Murray and thought we should have had a go at signing him as like Griffiths he could have stepped up.

Very good 👍
This is voted for by fellow players
35 titles in my lifetime. Can remember Fir Park 1966 vaguely. Bobby Lennox scored, I’m still celebrating. Be rude not to. 👍

Me and the small doll met Broonie at Fleetwood training centre, a real gentleman and a good laugh. I have a great deal of time for him. Wouldn’t want to play against him though. 😳

One of my favourite memories of Scott, is when a few Aberdeen players tried to clatter him. Only for him to strut away in a hilarious walk. Loved that .

the moment the 70s were officially declared over !
Some hilarity from the numbskulls across the City on FF.
“Would you be happy next season,to see good signs of improvement”
“Yes,some improvement,a must..One or both Cups.Going into the split with a chance of winning the League.”
“No,we have waited long enough.Never be content with second”
” One or both cups,a t least low single digits ,if behind at the split, and a strong run in Europe”
I can see a lot of them looking like modern day kids waking up on Christmas morning to a Sock filled with ashes, and a Tangerine on top, next May.
It’s the hope to blame.
Interesting TB – their expectations are changing?
32 league titles for me, I hadn’t really thought of this before! My first league winning game was against St Mirren in 1982, mentioned a few times on here recently. Nervous at half time as the Huns were getting gubbed at Pittodrie at half time but we came good.
This was the day I realised I loved Tommy Burns. My memory is that he held up the trophy presentation because he stopped to speak to everyone in the wee blue cars behind the goal. I remembered loads of them but I’ve seen photos more recently and there were only a few but I loved him from that moment regardless.
Congratulations to everyone!

I just can’t stop celebrating. Is there no end to this folly?🤔

CELTIC TV – TUESDAY 29th APRIL ’25
The Celtic B Team face their Rangers counterparts in this year’s Glasgow Cup Final and it’s a match you can see live on Celtic TV.
After a semi-final win over Clyde, Stephen McManus’s side will now play for the chance to win one of the oldest trophies in Scottish Football on Tuesday, April 29.
The young Hoops came off second best in the 2024 final back in December when they were on the wrong end of a nail biting 3-2 defeat to their Glasgow rivals. They’ll be hoping to turn that around and win the trophy back with victory at Firhill Stadium.
The match kicks off at 7pm and your Celtic TV commentary team will be Paul Cuddihy and Youth Coach Willie McNab.
Join us on Celtic TV as the B Team go in search of their own silverware, following in the steps of the Men’s first team, who won their fourth successive Premiership title with a 5-0 win over Dundee Utd on Saturday.

Interesting reading back and a lot of mentions of Celtic fans becoming entitled. That may be a problem for some but I think it’s more that we expect to win every domestic game. I’m not saying that we should lose the plot when we occasionally lose a match, but in my years of supporting Celtic they have never been this far ahead of the rest for so long.
In the past there were always players from other Scottish clubs that we would like to have seen in the hoops but I can barely think of any Scottish players that would be a dramatic step up from what we have.
I have no idea how long our domination will last but I’ll enjoy every second of it.
Gene, hope your good lady is better soon.
