Celtic: a morality tale

422

Just when you thought it was safe to have hope for the remainder of Celtic’s season, 13 of the squad, as well as Neil Lennon and John Kennedy have to isolate.  This is in addition to Christopher Jullien, who tested positive over the weekend.

This has been a failure by design.  Celtic did what was permitted, not what was wise.  We have been out-thought and out-planned all season, on and off the field.  The latest crisis happened because a player with a long-term injury travelled for warm weather training.  Where to being?  From a position of weakness, we needed to not put a foot wrong during the second half of the season, instead, we have become a morality tale for others to learn from.

If you like watching Celtic with overwhelming odds to fight against, you should enjoy the games ahead.

Best wishes to Christopher Jullien for a complete recovery.

Celtic were stupid to go, but got no reminders from the authorities that it was a bad idea.

How would it be if the Huns had made as big an RS McColls of it, and their defence had been “Wee Nippy never telt us we couldny go”?

Regardless of how you think of her efforts or her herself, do you not think the FM has enough on her plate without having to remind idiot football club staff that they shouldn’t go abroad for what NL clearly advertised on Sky as “R & R”??

This trip to Dubai was ok’d by the Scottish Government and the SPFL.

    A bit different.

They took the moral high ground, handed the player the highest punishment (didn’t sack him as they want money for him).

Currently the pandemic is at a critical stage, much higher than it was when bolingoli decided to take off. Therefore it shows the club are contradictory to their own values when it suited them.

My opinion is that bolingoli’s is disgraceful in light of recent matters. Restrictions may have been greater at the time but, only because government guidelines lack consistency. The player did not test positive after all

  3. I Just googled Henry McLeesh. Dear oh dear, how can he pontificate on Celtic with a straight face ?

I’m now starting to fully realise just how much the QuadTreb upset the best wee country etc etc

    Mon the (depleted) Hoops !

  4. Hazard

    Frimpong Duffy Welsh, Laxalt

    ………………Soro…………..

    Rogic,Turnbull, McGregor,Johnston.

    Harper.

Is that the formation for tonight? Or Johnston as striker and Harper on the wing?

  5. No Bobby Does It Petta on

No recognised striker in starting eleven.

Harper plays wide right for the “reserves”.

  7. Sorry. I hadn`t seen the other formations. Sorry also that I left SFTB out of the line-up. He deserved a game as reward for his enthusiasm.

  8. P67 – ‘Just when you thought it was safe to have hope for the remainder of Celtic’s season’

Would’ve been interesting if P67 had expanded on what he was basing that hope on. I can’t think of anything, we even appear to be messing up our preparation for next season.

  9. Bolingoli went behind the club’s back and broke the Govt rules. Not a lot any club could have done about this.

He was, correctly, put out on loan. Don’t recall a great deal of anguish about his treatment at the time, other than some were looking for far worse treatment for the player.

  10. I think Harper has been playing wide recently. I’ve seen him in a few games, probably over a year ago right enough, when he played as a striker. I tuned in to watch the likes of Dembele, but Harper impressed most.

  11. our season ends tonight!!

Poor pre season planning/recruiting, Internationals , COVID, injuries and awful club management.

We still can’t bring in a critical center back to backfire Julien – instead we shop around for bargains.

    Just isn’t our season !

Looking forward to seeing the youngsters tonight but fear we will be all over the place

  12. Worst thing about this is i feel somehow morally responsible with no good reason. This is what happens when people who represent a movement, a collective, a family of sorts bring it into disrepute. The rest of us feel it. To the extent that i entertain the thought that giving Hibs the three points would be an acceptable way to make amends.

We need to take back the soul of our club.

    I remain absolutely gutted.

  13. STEBHOY

Maybe our season BEGINS tonight? 🤔 😊

Who knows in advance, but I am Celtic-‘Daft’ enough to know that anything is (still) possible with the Hoops! 😊

Looking forward to this game immensely! We maybe look a little light up front, but that is a much stronger team than I envisaged given today’s news! 😊 My only reservation is what the MIB’s will let Hibs away with… We are getting a kicking off the park; I don’t expect it to be any different ON the Park! I think it is what the ‘Scottish Nation’ expects (and will turn a blind eye to) too.

Celtic to win by 3 clear goals, McGregor to own the Captain’s Jersey now, and Hazard, Soro, Turnbull, Johnston all to play a blinder! 😊

Take Care, Keep Safe, God Bless and Hail Hail,

    Yours in Celtic, 😊 🧣 🍀

    TB&F. 😊

  14. I’m hoping we get to see something of Henderson and Connel tonight. I think both might be worth a run in the team.

Now we are seeing Scotland in its true colours (and they are not green and white). I had thought it was the sports department of BBC Scotland which was against us but how the whole station have been on our case since 6 am sickens me. They have even had Henry McLeish on twice and they hadn’t spoken to him forever and a day.
