I am sure none of us were particularly surprised that the gap between bottom and top of the Europa League was the distance between a 3-1 win and a 3-1 defeat. Midtjylland peppered the Celtic goal before the flow of goals started, it was a mercy their intensity dropped after scoring three in eight first half minutes.
There are many issues to resolve but the core one has changed little since games against Brugge and Newco from the midpoint of last season onwards. When Celtic try to build from the back, resourceful teams man-mark against them. To advance, defenders have to pick out a player who can control the ball and pass into the space a teammate is moving into. Again, this did not happen.
Last night, in the event a forward pass reached a Celtic player, he was invariably isolated and unable to hold the ball or see a pass. Possession was lost and Midtjylland started another attack. Alternatively, central defenders break through opposition lines, as Auston Trusty did on Sunday, but among the confidence drain on show in Denmark, I was happy to see Auston hold his position. It is, of course, sacrilege these days, but in earlier times, when teams were unable to play out from the back, they went long.
One of Brendan Rodgers’ early lessons when arriving at Celtic in 2023 was the value of Reo Hatate. Reo links play better than anyone at the club. I am a firm fan but his engine looks tired this season; I was not surprised he was dropped for what promised to be a night of constant running. The extra legs may have kept the scoreline down, but we need players in the middle of the park who can take a pass while under pressure.
I shouted “Don’t let him get the cross in” as Anthony Ralston showed Krüger-Johnsen down the line before the first goal. With James Forrest on hand to cover the cut inside, Anthony made the wrong decision. Aware of this mistake, Anthony was all about not letting Krüger-Johnsen get a cross in 90 seconds later. In a moment, the game was beyond reach.
Just as you and I worried about yesterday, Liam Scales’ booking means he is one more caution away from a suspension. With four games to go we can anticipate a Trusty-Murray back line if both stay fit. Europe is rapidly becoming the least important aspect of our season.
Callum Osmand’s hamstring injury added a cost to an already profitless night. The striker sparked for Celtic after coming on and won the penalty which tempered the score. Hopefully the damage is not too severe.

more chance of total hypocrisy – lets we forget my 4rse. A minutes silence ina country which has just been complicit in genocide. A minutes silence in a country whose air force have bombed Yemen, one of the poorest countries on the planet.
lest we forget….
We have a leadership that seeks to divide Celtic fans, not unite them. Think about what their motives might be for that.
The city of Dundee has struggled a bit recently.
Here’s hoping its two senior clubs can give the place a lift with victories tomorrow.
To avoid any perception of East more than West bias ….
… let me even things up by equally hoping for wins for Motherwell and Celtic.
the ban timing is co-incidental .
witnessed by my cousin in the standing section.
a couple of gb came back to their area and said something about another guy getting lifted on the concourse.
a sizeable group took it on themselves to go rescue the other guy.
covering their faces they ran out to confront the police and stewards.
hypocrisy is it ? would we want travelling supporters to behave like a mob at Celtic park ?
everybody knows why the barriers and multiple ticket checking is happening. interlopers leading to serious over crowding in that area.
imho the stewarding is not over the top. it is a response to threats about safety.
what else can they do ?
the fans survey com mm ents around more sage standing no chance now.
My 9 year-old grandson is in the Hibs academy. His coach knew he and his dad were Celtic fans, and he very kindly presented them with complimentary parent & child tickets for Hibs v Celtic at Easter Road.
Their seats were behind the goals at the Celtic end, in line with the 6 yard line. They went early and found their seats before going to the catering to get some food & drink. They were away from their seats about 20 minutes. When they returned, about 20 minutes before kick-off, their seats were occupied by the Green Brigade overspill from behind the goals. 4 young supporters dressed in the usual GB uniform were standing in front of their seats. My son politely informed them that these were their ticketed seats, only to be unceremoniously told to go forth and multiply.
My son spoke to a steward who looked nervous and unwilling to intervene. He told my son to sit on the seats, behind the 4 imposters. My son is no mug and challenged the guys again and this time he was physically pushed aside. His son was now in tears so he decided to occupy two seats further along the row away from the goal.
My grandson said he wanted to go home and seeing how nervous he was, my son decided it wasn’t worth it and they left just as the teams came out and they got a taxi home.
But hey, the GB are perfect angels who are always wronged and never the wrong-doer. How predictable that every time they are brought to task by the club, it’s all the conspiratorial board’s fault.
The GB are a shower of parasites and it’s time people stopped supporting their nonsense by default.
Thank goodness for supporters like Saint Stivs who are not afraid to stand up to the thoughtless, agenda-driven, bullying majority on here.
I guess the Ticket Office knows how many supporters are members of the self styled ‘Green Brigade’ or maybe not. I’ve read that there may be 2-300 members, and if so I hope their seats are made available to other Celtic supporters, for both the home and away games impacted, the Hibs away game and the Dundee and Hearts home matches especially the latter which hopefully will be crucial.
Evening all.
TOM MCLAUGHLIN
Shocking behaviour from Green Brigade members towards your son and grandson. The fact that grandson was so nervous to be in close proximity that he wanted to leave a match involving his football heroes is heart breaking.
His excitement prior to match, to the fear that led him to wanting to leave must have been a horrible feeling.
I hope he does not lose his love for Celtic, but I could understand why it could lessen.
A board more interested in burning bridges than mending fences, to punish a whole group, most of whom had no connection with the incident is to me disgraceful.
This board will empty Celtic Park, what a crew of middle class beaurocrats they are, who have absolutely no respect for the Celtic support, whom they only see as customers. shameful.
my hypocrisy comment was aimed at the poppy-fest not in defence of the GB BTW
as for behaving like a mob, we , the celtic support have allowed the most heinous scum back into the stadium. Any petitions going ?
as for covering their faces, maybe they were just. copying the polis :)
what happened to your son TMcL is not on and i dont know anyone who would defend/support that
the GB have been at fault on many occasion, not least when one of them had to move house when they targetted the wrong kind of guy at a game.
nobody has said they are perfect angels – nobody. they are trainee human beings after all and none that I know are perfect.
that said, when it comes to many, not all, of the GBs gripes against the real parasites at CP, I know who I back
thank goodness for any supporters who are not afraid to speak their mind
Good evening all.
BELMONTBRIAN
My grandson has been to about half a dozen games at Celtic Park since then and is still Celtic daft.

As far as I’m aware the standing area is not allowed to resale tickets. Part of the licence agreement is those ‘seats’ are named individuals.
I’ve long thought it will end with The Movement verbally and physically abusing fans at Celtic Park.
GB is not the movement, as you call it!
At my age a movement is most welcome.

With your liquid intake ,I don’t see any problems….apart from your bed sheets😁
They’re part of it. As is the likes of James Forrest.
Fly with the crows, get shot with the crows.
Interesting next 4 league games.
Celtic has
Kilmarnock h
St Mirren a
Hibernian a
Hearts has
Dundee U h
Motherwell a
Aberdeen a
Rangers has
Dundee a
Livingston h
Falkirk h
Every chance that we could have a 3 way contest emerging by the time we finish v Hearts on the 7th December.
The arrogance of many Celtic fans dismissing the Govan lot could well come back to haunt them.

Damned impertinence. But funny. 🤣🤣

Maybe just taking a load of ignorant abuse from some bitter jealous Celtic fans is as much as he managed.
Maybe he was involved in a recruitment process for a new manager ?
Sadly he is not the right target. All he does is the bidding of the main shareholder.
You know that already and to acknowledge might leave you one less authority target to abuse.

There are about 400 other components of the ‘movement ‘
I’m sure you are aware of that….
I would just like to clarify, I cannot stand ANY type of bullying, it is in my opinion the lowest level of cowardice, I worked for many years in environments where it used on a daily basis.
A child so frightened that he felt he had to leave because of the bullying behaviour makes my blood boil.
Tom, brilliant to hear that your grandson still has passion for Celtic, long may it continue,
Tom McLaughlin
Tom ,,good on your grandson ,hh wee mhan🍀💚
prestonpans bhoys
Wasn’t aware of that. That said the standing section holds around 3000, so they should still be able to contribute to the atmosphere, albeit with 2-300 volunteers decommissioned…..
Is Engels fit for tomorrow? It’s bare bones for the first eleven….subs bench will be interesting….
Whether it 40, 400 or 4000 (I thought it was 22), the squeaky wheel gets most oil.
The Movement was doomed from the outset as the idiots were always destined to destroy any and all of its credibility.

I came out the HCTS at St renewal, our ‘seats’ have been empty since for cup games. One of blogs explained why.

Last time I had the pleasure of interacting with you, I concluded you have a difficulty with constructive sentences and gave up.
I your defence I assume you got a ‘comp o’ for your higher English . Now cheerio….
Tom…glad the incident, although scary, hasn’t put off your grandson.
TML,
The GB “Overspill”.
So not really GB then?
Weeron,
Guys fighting with Stewards trying to get into the GB section
So,not really GB then?
You asked the question.
France v Boks just kicked off so I’ll bid you good night as well 👍
“I for one would be glad to see the back of the GB.All that singing, and those Drums. Can hardly hear myself abusing the players”
major L.O.L.

Telling a couple 100 folk they are banned from games cause a handful of guys behaviour is not a good look. We are happy to let sevco fans into the stadium who criminally damage property, engage in racial slurs and hate of a criminal nature, no sight of a ban there. The police are very familiar with intimidating and aggressive behaviour from what I can see, think london road etc.
Some folk appear to think putting on a nice wee uniform gives them the authority to act above the law of the land. It does not. No one should place their hands on you without permission and the police should not stop you without good cause.
