CELTIC ALERT AS HEARTS LOSE

CELTIC can cut Hearts’ advantage at the Premiership pinnacle to three points after the Edinburgh side’s 1-0 loss to St Mirren in Paisley this evening.

The Hoops take on Aberdeen at Pittodrie tomorrow night and a victory will edge them ever closer to the Tynecastle side.

Derek McInnes winced as Craig Halkett was dismissed in the first-half after a reckless challenge which brought an immediate red card from referee Steven McLean.

HIGH AND MIGHTY…Miguel Freckleton rises to bullet in St Mirren’s winner against 10-man Hearts in Paisley this evening.

They also survived a strong penalty-kick shout on the cusp of half-time after VAR intervened and the hosts had to be content with a free-kick at the edge of the box.

The capital side took a battering against an eager Saints outfit and keeper Alexander Schwolow kept them in the contest with a series of superb saves.

But the German keeper had no answer in the 88th minute when Declan John swung in a left-wing corner-kick and Miguel Freckleton rose highest to power a six-yard header into the net.

Hearts are put to the test again a week tonight when they are involved in the Edinburgh derby against Hibs.
