Celtic and SRU test cases

Celtic again have stayed quiet while someone from the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) briefed the media on hopes they have of hosting supporters at Murrayfield in August, with Celtic holding a similar test event at a friendly in July.  The tests would be small-scale, around 1,000 supporters in a limited part of the stadium, but would demonstrate how practical it is to safely hold public events.

All of this depends on the direction of travel of the virus in Scotland continuing its downward trajectory.

Steve McClaren is something of a joke figure among some in English football for his ‘wally/brolly’ moment when England manager and that distinctly Dutch accent when at Twente.  This is prejudicial.  He is a manager who took Middlesbrough into Europe for the first two times in their history, reaching the Uefa Cup Final three years after Martin O’Neill took Celtic there.

His time at England was unsuccessful but he would be an interesting call for Dundee United.  I hope they go for him.

Think we have a few interesting “Prospects”already.Dembele,Klimala,Soro.

Aye, we will see about them. But there are always gems out there like Frimpong.

The English hoover up talent and neglect it.

I wonder if McLaren will use Red Bull to get his players going.

  3. If McLaren takes the Dundee Utd manager job I hope he doesn’t test positive for the carowner virus…

  4. MOI is a key signing for me. Left side midfield needs experience in a 4-2-3-1. If we stick to 3-5-2 then he will not get as many games.

I think Neil will use both systems this year on a horses for courses basis

  5. Great news about Moi, if true. Bit more worried about Big Fraz returning as McCarthy was awful at Crystal Palace and hasn’t improved and Angus Gunn ain’t half as good as his faither,Bryan. Think big Craig is much better than these two and Southampton should have snapped him up as part of the deal to bring Fraser home to Paradise.

  6. Big Fraser will be back, Moi and wee Mikey over on the left wing battling it out…a rested Callum and Big Tam at the back…..Jamesey and wee Frimpers on the right…..settled CH partnership…Eddie stays as does Olly Ntcham….

    Looking good fellas….HWG 10IAR….

Received a text back from big Jimmy

He is ok and still in hospital

David66 will probably provide more detail after work

Blantyretim – nothing more to add received the same text. The Big mhan is hoping to get out soon.

    D. :)

  8. Big Jimmy, I hope this wee note finds you keeping better. I haven’t been on the site much at all recently.my motivational levels are at an all time low.The last time i had a brief conversation with you I think you mentioned you did not come from The Calton that you were from Easterhouse.Which brings me to my question.Did you happen to know the McLeod brothers. Gus,Frank and Donny. We had a team out here that played in the Hoops and the brothers played for a few seasons .I know them all quite well.Gus has just quit his coaching job from a team not far from where I live. Jimmy I’ve never met you but I really do hope you recover from your illness. This past year has been terrible and it now looks like we could be going into lockdown again.Stay strong mate and a big HAIL HAIL from the Land Downunder. PADDY

my goodness I posted 3 times yesterday and one of them got deleted (a first for me), trying to remember what it was I was saying,

something alone the lines of – welcome to the Mens Shed of Celtic online blogs – the best place for aul codgers with a Celtic persuasion to meet up and sort out all the worlds problems,

    surely that wasn’t offensive…

mind you I did go on a wee bit about the old days on here when it was like the wild west – get your retaliation in first – pages and pages of posters exchanging insults,

kind of miss that a wee bit – but definitely don’t miss those numpties posting song lyrics – what was that all about? :-)

    yip, agreed, definitely good news,…

“Mohamed Elyounoussi is set to re-sign for Celtic tomorrow after agreeing the terms of a new season-long loan, Football Insider understands.he Norway international is heading back to Parkhead for a second spell”

now we just need to get big Fraser over the line…

Thought they had binned that facility some time ago, they will get to it eventually😰

oor Chris does not think signing Joe Hart is a good idea, wonder if he has told Neil…

“Why would Celtic, whether he cost money or a free transfer, want to spend big wages on Hart?

He’s not the keeper that he was. “He’s 33 years old, maybe he could come up and resurrect his career but Celtic cannot afford to take a gamble this season.

“That would be a gamble to sign Hart, looking at the form which he has been in. It hasn’t been good enough and Celtic cannot afford slip-ups.”

Read that post and didn’t think nthere was much in it.

Remember too that a poster came back with a kiddy on insult.

    Did that get deleted?

  15. Just about every signing we make is a risk.

Look at the players we have signed, some for (relatively) big money and got no or very little time on the park for us.

I’d take Joe Hart if we can’t get THE WALL.

  16. !!Bada Bing!! on

CELTIC Football Club is delighted to announce that Mohamed Elyounoussi has signed a new season-long loan with the Scottish Champions. The Norwegian internationalist spent last season with the Hoops on loan from Southampton, playing his part in the club’s nine-in-a-row title success.

The 25-year-old made his debut in a 1-0 win away to Hamilton Accies back in September last year, while he netted the first of seven Celtic goals in a UEFA Europa League group-stage victory over CFR Cluj at Celtic Park.

Joe Hart will take a few more days!

Hope you and you good lady are well!

  18. Philbnoy,

I loved your lyrics, I’m possibly one of the numpties Rock Tree was talking about.

I absolutely love Ballads, it was the only way we could record our history.

Whenever I stumble across a long forgotten ballad, if a few lines hits the spot , I’m prone to posting them.

Haven’t done it for a long while now but just might be tempted to come out of retirement, just to prove Rock Tree’s point.

    From Chris McLaughlin BBC

For now, “Pretty much no chance” of fans returning to stadia before October, according to @jasonleitch. He tells me they may run some test events during August and September but SPFL Premiership season will start behind closed doors.

That was after they checked with HQ (aka ipox). Sevco confirmed there was no way they could sanatise the clan.

The SMASING OF THE VAN was my first Irish song.

It commemorates an event that took place in 1867, by the IRISH REPUBLICAN BROTHERHOOD, of which my Dad’s dad was a member.

They were superceded in 1924 by the IRA.

I know you know this CORKCELT, it’s for the youngsters on here!

If my memory is shit I’m sure someone on here will let me know.
