Celtic and the burnout issue

512

Delighted for Leigh Griffiths (penalty), Callum McGregor (penalty and assist) and Ryan Christie (goal) who, after a difficult few months domestically, got any reassurance necessary from a Scotland performance and result that they can compete and win on the European stage.  McGregor’s reverse pass for the goal was a thing of beauty.

The caveat is that our players will compete for four domestic trophies this season, head to the Euros with Scotland, then go straight into Celtic’s European qualifiers without as much as a long weekend down the Clyde.  To paraphrase Roy Scheider, you’re gonna need a bigger squad.

Footballers are not machines.  They have peaks and troughs of form, fitness and focus.  How many mountains can Callum McGregor climb?  We have to hope Steve Clarke cuts the Celtic players some slack in the spring internationals, while Neil Lennon should have a good hard look at the remaining three Europa League games before risking his most precious assets.

  4. Hail Hail Folks.

Here, I came across these three video blogs on YouTube, with one of the Interviewers, who I’ve seen hosting

B T Sport. It’s not a bad three parts series interview, with Steven Gerrard.

With Steven Gerrard, talking about he gets the best out of his Squad, by co-jelling each individual player, one

way, or another. He also mentions playing under Brendan Rodgers, & BR’s techniques of individual motivation.

He also speaks about his last Season as a player, under BR back in 2014, & when he slipped & fell, in a Anfield

Home match against Chelsea, which led to Chelsea scoring a goal, from him slipping & losing possession of the

Ball, which in turn led to as mentioned, Chelsea scoring the winning goal in the said match, which he claims

Cost Liverpool the E P L League title in that particular Season. However he forgot to mention, that after that

Particular match, Liverpool threw away a two goal advantage against Crystal Palace, in South East London,

which drove the final nail, into Liverpool’s attempted, of winning the League back then, because Liverpool

where held to a draw, & two dropped points, sailed down the Thames River back then. He also mentioned,

that he quickly learns, from his & the players mistakes, & that he reviews his & there mistakes, & moves on

quickly. He also mentions, in his opinion the best Manager he worked under, was Rafiel Bonitos, who knew

how to get the best out of him, & was his Manager when Liverpool won the European Cup, (The CL) in

Istanbul Turkey, a few years ago. IMO Rafiel Bonitos, has now gone past his use by date, because his most

recent results record with Newcastle United, did not exactly set the Roses on fire. Anyway, it’s not a bad

three twenty minutes part, YouTube video blog, which gives one an insight, into how Steven Gerrard

Football mind works, along with the help of Garry ‘Don’t Take Those Penalties Against Engurland’

McAllister. Anyway I’ve enclosed the YouTube links below, Go-On-The-Bhoys Folks.

  5. Celtic, should start to appeal against those ridiculous fines, imposed by UEFA.

UEFA, are now treating our Club with contempt, & also looking @ us as a soft touch,

when it comes to dishing out fines. The Lille match, was not a physical @ all.

The only clumsy challenge in said match, was when Soro took one for the Team.

The other bookings, where Elyounussi got booked for kicking the ball away,

where made up of Lille players, diving all over the pitch, to gain advantage, &

free kicks. This UEFA fine is ridiculous, along with some of the yellow cards,

which where dished out during said match.

rangers were liquidated, sashes to ashes

Yeah Martim1980, we all know Sevco where liquidated back in 2012.

However they are now officially known as ‘The Rangers International FC’

who have kept “Old Co’s History” which is b*llocks.

They are now spouting off, we are now going for 55, when in actual

fact, its really one League title win not 55.

There is an old wise Cliche which states, one keeps ones Friends close,

however, one also keeps ones Enemy’s even closer.

We will have to remain fully focus this Season, if we want to retain the

League title & 10IAR, that’s for sure, forget Europe this Season. We have

certainly got a challenge, going on this Season, that is also for sure.

Their is no room for results wise, words like 1) Inconsistency 2) Attitude

    3) Complacency which I’m sure we all fully understand when it comes

    down to performance level.

  7. Went into Bairds bar and met Charlie and the Bhoys with a lovely chap called Eddie McSheffrie (SP?)

He was well known and we had such a good night

  8. I wonder if the old Bairds bar owner still has that laminated A4 size sheet of paper I

gave him, with all pictures, of all the programs, including the final program, in Saville 2003.

I’ve also have, to this day, an old Bairds Bard Black Tea Shirt.

I also met Charlie & The Bhoys, back in 2006 @ the Benidorm Convention, Mick is a cool

Bhoy. If memory serves me well, I’m sure some of the Band Members, use to play in a

previous Band before Charlie & The Bhoys named ‘Scheme’.

One of the Band members (Charlie & The Bhoys) was telling me, that he had a lot of

hassle, getting into America, because he had some fruit in his Suitcase.

I don’t think wanting away automatically means your standard of play declines. No doubt there are plenty of examples. Players don’t just want away, they want to move to a big team if possible. Tierney to Arsenal for example is a dream move many would love to emulate and they won’t by downing tools. So they need to keep up their standard of play, not show poor commitment because they’re off when they can. Eddie had a poor game for the French under21s and didn’t score as he usually does. I think his performances at the moment are influenced a lot by lack of fitness. I’ve seen Ryan Christie celebrate for Celtic, the fact that he didn’t on one or two occasions is not indicative of love lost. The Scotland game was something very special for him and I’m sure his whole family and why not? He is Scottish after all.

  12. Stevie Clarke would get us to CL on a regular basis. He had Scotland play its most creative game away from home what I have seen. The players respect and play for him especially out bhoys. He knows there best zones on the park. He took a couple of games to suss out new club and fairly plane sailing.

A worried sevco press is claiming he is there for life—- as if he would tell them anything.

He has 3 games in June when the season is over. A solution where he can do both would work…

Incidentally, when I was at school, Yogi Bear was a popular character in the Huckleberry Hound cartoons. As my surname is `Barr`, I soon got the nickname Yogi ( Yogi Barr for the slow CQNers :-)) ).

When I bought Big John`s book ” Yogi Bare” he autographed it:

James Forrest is blogging today about the unseen Ibrox accounts due to become visible this month. An interesting side event expected in November will be the statutory accounts to end January 2020 for the Liverpool likely lads at Castore.

The Ibrox deal won’t be included in those numbers yet, but there may be first sight of the capital-gathering which allowed them to pitch for the manufacture and retail license this spring.

The 2019 Accounts show Castore to be a company capitalised at £100 with the nominal value of the 100,000 shares to be in ‘mills’. Very rare nowadays. They may not sell three pairs of socks for £1, but shares in the business come ten a penny.
