Celtic and the other form team in the league

126

Hamilton Accies had a remarkable season in the sun under Billy Reid when James McCarthy, James McArthur and Alex Neil took them into the top flight a few years back, but while they no longer have a midfield packed with that kind of talent, this season’s incarnation are delivering above expectations.

They’ve lost only once in 10 outings (all in the league), a run which goes back to the middle of September. They’ve taken points from six of the top seven teams, only Celtic, whom they’ve yet to face, haven’t suffered at their hands. This is a hard team to beat.

Brendan Rodgers will look at this game as an opportunity to rest some limbs. Scott Brown had a busy autumn for club and country; he looks fresh, but that’s the way to keep him. I’d be tempted to give Nir Bitton a start in his place.

Mikael Lustig and Craig Gordon are others who may benefit from a rest. Like Jozo Simunovic is now both were considered too fragile to play multiple games in a week in recent times. We’ll need them, and Scott, before the month is out.

No Mike you are wrong. You are the best. Your bust with antlers now has central place above my fire place. No place for Christmas cards.

  6. Looking forward tonight, to the first of three home games in a week and hopefully 9 points. The thermals and woollens are looked out.

  7. Looking forward to the game today.

At this moment my ad blocker is blocking9 sites.

This is a big but not sole reason for blogs decline.

The quality of postings is not what it once was.

There is a spiteful element to a lot of postings.

Perhaps a victim of it’s own success?

  8. garygillespieshamstring on

For everyone missing the game tonight because you are going to see Rod the Mod, you can console yourself with the thought that you will see Celtic scoring five against the zombies.

  9. VFR800 is now a Monster 821, I would like to suggest that instead of a Word of The Day, you post a daily notice instructing people how to block ads. Up for it?

BMCUWP, could you email the daily notice to everyone who can’t read said notice because they haven’t work out how to block ads?

I’ll support you both in this endeavour by continuing to sit here rolling my eyes at folk who can’t block ads.

    Many thanks in advance.

  10. Missing tonight’s game because I’m in Embra to see my grandson. Will miss next Tuesday’s game for the same reason. Can I put in a plea for midweek games to be played on Wednesdays as they were back in the good old days?

Love how Brendan’s got the team playing these days. We were so good against Man City last week, passed well, retained possession well, no signs of the total panic that used to characterise our away games in Europe and we played very well as a team. Ditto with Thistle. We are witnessing the emergence of Stuart Armstrong and Tom Rogic and the re-emergence of Broony and James Forrest. What days we are living in! When was confidence last so high from Celtic supporters?

Get the business done tonight lads because I’ve been sleepless with worry since I read Wee Barrie McKay’s utterances after Sevco routed Hertz at the weekend. In fact every time I think about what he, and now Kenny Miller’s at it as well, I become paralysed with ………………………

Why is this site unique (in my experience at least) in having such an issue with unwanted ads?

The idea that it’s OK if you use a particular browser, or download ad blocking software, so there isn’t really a problem, is just daft.

People won’t be arsed. They’ll just not bother. They’ll go elsewhere.

And the advertisers will catch on soon enough that no one is reading their ads so that revenue stream isn’t going to last long anyway.

  12. DAVIDOPOULOS on 13TH DECEMBER 2016 4:49 PM

In my experience it’s only this site that presents a problem.

The fact that others are complaining suggests that my experience is not unique.

The proferred ‘solution’ is daft because it fails to understand, or ignores, the fact that people won’t bother. They’ll just drift away.

  13. Ernie/ DavidO

I posted the same earlier, people won’t be arsed, they will go elsewhere, Mrs TET has a FB page that is huge, she has 80 odd thousand organic likes and a daily reach of 2 mill +, she knows fine well that people can’t be arsed, they need lead by the hand for virtually everything, the internet today is the fast food of info, if they have to exert themselfs in any way they WILL go elsewhere, that mi amigos is a fact.

THE EXILED TIM on 13th December 2016 12:31 pm

I don’t have a problem on my computer cos I downloaded ad blocker, but as I have a crap broadband width I find streaming a pain as it keeps buffering due to the ad blocker eating up the broadband, I was out this morning and used the wifes iphone to get on CQN, waste of time, the adds were a joke, many people will NOT download a blocker hence the blog doing poorly.

I have no idea what Paul makes from the adds but the revenue will drop as the hits to the site drops and when punters go elsewhere it’s really hard to get them back.

I think it was James Forrest, could be mistaken, sorry if it wasn’t you James, that said that the money from the adds wasn’t worth it for the hassle, so I hope Paul is making enough.

Personally I think he should make the site a donation to read and post, it would stop all the adds and trolls in a oner, it works for other Celtic sites.

  14. ernie lynch

Is it not daft to ignore advice that has been offered umpteen times on this blog, and is also readily available via a quick google search, just because you don’t think you should have to do anything?

Don’t get me wrong, I think the ads are a nuisance, but the solution is neither complex nor time-consuming.

  15. Cosy Corner Bhoy on

About to set off for the game tonight. Don’t know about Paul’s theory but I note they have lots of draws!

Usual pre match place for me and will be pleased to meet any CQNrs.

    COYBIG.

  16. If you don’t want ads, you have to pay. If you want a site that uses ads but in a less intrusive way, you need to pay for a developer to make it so.

These things aren’t always entirely under the hosts control. We have had our site grind to a halt due to issues with 3rd party ads, The ad provider pulled them after contact, but our sites are monitored constantly, so we can do these things quickly.

  17. An advert should not prohibit access to a blog. But here at CQN HQ it does. I agree with Ernie. People will ‘walk away’ without trying remedial action first as the info required isn’t always available or known.

May i suggest proper Beta testing of future upgrades so that the impact on end users is limited, such as DNS switching.

i’d be prepared to be that guinea pig :-)

Makes sense in the long run.

  18. Weeminger

I have no idea how much CQN costs Paul, but he obviously needs a hand hence the adds, I reckon most would happily pay a few £ each month for the site, I know I would.

It’s where I get most of my info and I get a laugh as well, well worth a couple of £ a month.

All the best to the Celts tonight. Not expecting a huge crowd two weeks from Christmas but it’ll be three good points collected for a win. Leigh up top if Brendan lets me pick the team.

  26. Hunderbirds are Gone on

I access the site with Safari browser on an iPad and up until about a month ago I had no problems with ads, but then all of a sudden was swamped with intrusive ones, one of which, for insurance I think, took up the entire screen and it became impossible to navigate the site at all.

So I reluctantly decided to get Adblock plus, and thought “here we go, they say this is easy but it will take me ten hours, and still won’t work”.

However, pleased to report it took less than 5 minutes to locate, download and activate, and so far has been 100% successful in blocking the ads.

As lock plus. Free on the App Store, no time at all to download, and clear, easy to follow instructions to activate, and it does exactly what it says on the tin :)))
