CELTIC BACK TO DUNDEE TO FACE UNITED IN SCOTTISH CUP
CELTIC, predictably enough, got the toughest draw possible in this afternoon’s Scottish Cup Quarter Final draw with an away tie against Dundee United.
Celtic’s last defeat came at Tannadice in December 2014, although the hosts were extremely fortunate to gain all three points in the league encounter. Celtic had a late goal disallowed for offside but television pictures quickly established that this was an honest mistake.
Dundee United’s winning goal that day came from Stuart Armstrong who joined Celtic from the Tannadice club in January along with Gary Mackay- Steven.
The Scottish Cup Quarter Final ties are to be played on March 7th and 8th.
Celtic and Dundee United also meet in the Scottish League Cup Final on Sunday March 15th so the clubs will meet other on at least six occasions this season.
Elsewhere in the draw Hibs have a home tie against Spartans or Berwick Rangers while Queen of the South are rewarded for knocking out holders St Johnstone with another home draw, this time against Falkirk.
The two sides who put Glasgow clubs out in the previous round are drawn together with The Rangers conquerors Raith Rovers traveling north to Inverness CT, who themselves eliminated Partick Thistle at the weekend.
Celtic have yet to lose a goal in any domestic cup competition under Ronny Deila and despite today’s tough draw, remain firm favourites to win a domestic treble.
Certainly Celtic supporters think so – CQN Magazine ran a poll at the weekend asking if supporters believed that Celtic would win the Treble this season and the results were as follows…
