If you were an opposition manager planning to face Celtic, what would you do? At Ibrox we will meet a team that attacks us, but on all other occasions, we will face a packed defence intent on shutting us out. That’s not all. Every opponent will play for free kicks in the final third and corners, when possible.
It is not difficult to gain possession – then a foul – in wide positions 30 yards from your opponent’s goal. This would be the staging post I’d aim for when facing Celtic. We are winning games but set-piece crosses into the box continue to be poorly defended. We are the football equivalent of a boxer with a big punch and a glass chin.
If I was Dundee United manager Tam Courts, who face Celtic in the Scottish Cup a week today, I would play for penalties. Failure from 12 yards has been a regular feature of Celtic performances for years. It has not cost us a trophy since 2016, but until we improve this crucial part of the game we are asking for a sore one.
Practice, practice, practice. You can be sure Dundee United will this week.

The express doesn’t float my boat.Is it still functional ?
When nationalism is in the equation then a Ukraine situation is possible anywhere.
Could you please give rational reasioning why a Ukrainian situation could not happen here or, Belgium, Spain, Germany , France etc where independence movements are prominent.
The fact we are ” civilised ” countries is not an answer and is evidently just wrong.
Cheers.
Greenpinata,
Agree on a lot of that but I think you need to consider that this war was engineerd by our supposed greatest ally. Just like most wars since 1945. Nuland’s words in 2014 when aske about the affect of the maidan military Junta on the EU “F*** the EU”.
Over tha last 8 years millions of refugee’s escaped to Russia, not a word of outrage.
Countless millions have died at the hands of our continent, little said and little remorse.
Because people are “educated” it amplifies the shock, why?
Iraq, Lybia and Syria had highly educated populations, our continent were supporters of bombing them back into the dark ages. Sorry if you take this as a lack of sympathy for innocent civilians in Ukraine but its simply pointing out that education is not something we should consider when allocating sympathy, in fact it could be argued that the better educated the less sympathy we should have, as they knew it was coming and done nothing about it, I don’t subscribe to this but it is a reasoned argument. Most of the worst criminals in the world were/are highly educated.
The enormity of the situation was ignored since 2008 when Putin told NATO that Russia will not accept the expansion of NATO and that there would be repecussions, the British and American’s led NATO into this situation and the British are the biggest supporters of this conflict so it is on our behest this war is being carried out. I note while the Russian’s demonstrate for peace, the west demonstrates for war with Russia, changed days.
While the propaganda gets ramped up about the evil Russian’s that suggested safe evacuation routes for civilians, why can’t the west allow this to happen?
We know it was the Russian’s who suggested it because its not a NATO strategy, how many safe evacuation routes were offered to the Iraqis, Lybian’s Syrian’s, Yugoslav’s.
Most really do fool themselves into thinking the US brings peace, there is a lot of evidence that supports that it was the US who were at the centre of WWII with a strategy to destabilise Europe and destroy the soviet union. If its true then it worked a treat taking care of all the european empires in a single stroke and catapulting thmselves into the position of the world hegemon.
The last couple of years they have rewritten history to try and make out the Russain’s were in league with the nazi’s and plenty buy into that, especially the British.
i watched a Netflix show at the weekend around the 2013/14 Maidan events. It was good and showed a lot more of what went on than i had seen before. Protestors actually being shot by snipers etc.
They completely ignored the right wing violence and weaponry, spent 5 seconds on the government being kicked out and nothing on language laws, mysterious suicides in prison etc. Plenty about ‘black and tan’ types but nothing on the Azov brigade etc
Telling some of the truth is almost as bad as lying. I was very disappointed at the end but still worth a watch.
Whoever is in charge in Ukraine seem to use thug security forces against dissent from any side
Anyone wishing to witness Putin’s idea of how to go about his version of Regime change, please just log onto,Aleppo, before and after pictures.A Communist Barbarian.

Your correlation of the war in Ukraine with the independence movement in Scotland is just complete nonsense. Your post just reeked of unionist scaremongering with not a single part of it based in fact. You are seriously drawing comparisons with the Donbass and Scotland? So to prevent any upset to their imperialist neighbours the Ukrainian people should just submit to Putin?
Your solution I assume would be that we in the UK maintain the status quo, no matter what, setting an example for the rest of the world to follow and then somehow Russia will leave Ukraine? Will Yemen become peaceful overnight?
If I thought for one second your post was a serious assessment other than opportunistic Scotland battering it may be worth discussing. But I’m afraid I think you are at it.
Time to give this fekin place a miss.
A very happy Women’s international day to all our female fans.
Seated stadia has had many implications. But primarily it has made football safer with a more family friendly atmosphere.
It has opened football to more than just the male disporia.
While we reminisce in green tinted specs about the good old jungle days, let’s not forget an atmosphere so totally anti female.
From gangfights to the ability to open cans with a coin ( to pee ) the jungle was certainly iconic, but certainly not female friendly.
Remember the past, but embrace the new.
HH.
As usual the ignorant fool opens its uneducated mouth to let its belly rumble rule britania and every dissenter is an enemy or a traitor. There can be no intellegent discussion with such intransigents which is why war happens.
All dissenting information is propaganda and all opposing opinions are trecherous, adolf who?
and Russia is still communist ha ha ha ha ha ha ha if brains were dynamite he couldn’t blow off his bunnet.
TURKEYBHOY on 8TH MARCH 2022 9:28 AM
Putin isn’t a communist.
Timmt7noted,
Think Barcelona and what happened there not too long ago, the only reason it did not happen was because the population did not have access to armaments, the yanks has made sure in every country they wanted change, armaments were easy to come by. If the yanks decided they would be better of with the UK broken up you can be damned sure there would be all the armaments needed for the Scottish to put up a fight.
Ernie…,
A little known fact in the west :))
Oh by the way, the socialist and communist parties of Russia do not supptort the war in Ukraine they have made their feelings known and asked for ceasefire and withdrawal, that must be a spoiler for a few of people.
Good to have you back Canamalar.
Greenpinata,
Cheers, been looking in time to time during the covid-19 sabatical.
Thought it best not to share my views on that subject as too many people have been affected painfully and my heart goes out to them.
As it does to all victims of the Ukraininan conflict from 2014 to today. There are no goodies in this except that the US IMO are the evil empire acting like evil empires do.
I seen a video on twitter the other day about the destruction of the Russian military, had to laugh at what was provided as video evidence, was actually a scene from Star Wars with the stromtroopers at the side of the road. there has been a lot of video evidence taken from different conflicts used to show atrocities committed by the Russian’s the last one I seen was of a destroyed apartment block from Gaza being used as evidence in Ukraine. There is a lot of misinformation out there being published by the west as fact and not being questioned. But when you read the likes of Turkeybhoy you can understand why.
Rumour is Scott Brown might retire ( hang up his boots) soon.
Could this lead to him coming back to us in some sort of role …..for the future
or
Would he join Lenny abroad ….
changeofsubjectcfc……morning .
quick drag back to Sunday; I thought Petrov’s analysis of Starfelt’s recent displays was very interesting. He was pointing out that he eschews the physical battle now in favour winning the header if it is on and if not drops back to cover. He reckons his positioning has come on leaps and bounds and he has learned the Scottish game now.
His insights on Celtic TV and on Sky have been spot on this season and last.
From wiki
‘Petrov has completed his UEFA pro coaching licence, as well as a master’s degree in Sports Management through UEFA, as of 2020’
I think his star may be on the rise
did he do the coaching course while at Celtic?
I was talking about Brown, just to clarify
Timmy 7 Noted,
No Scotland bashing here. I’m very pro Scotland and Scottishness. I fear you are falling into the trap of thinking that only rampant Scottish Nationalists are real Scots.
With Scottish ñationalism so divisive and opinions split right down the middle it would be foolish to ignore and contrast current events.
The price of oil and gas is at record levels. We have many in fuel poverty. There must be a transition period away from fossil fuels, but in decades not immediately.
Our green partners in government with the SNP are not being realistic. They are putting dogma ahead of the people’s wellbeing.
It is perfectly feasible for Orkney, Shetland and Aberdeenshire to turn to Westminster if it has a more realistic transition period. Mortgages usually last 25 to 30 years.
Scotland will say no to such a request, but autonomy will not go away.
However everything will be fine because we are civilised and nothing like the Germans, Russians, Ukrainian peoples.etc etc.
As for the border areas. They will not let a hard border decimate their ties and way of life. They will do what it takes.
The break up of Scotland is a distinct possibility. I’m not saying it would happen, but it is a possibility.
Are redrawing borders always harmonious. Let history and current events answer that question.

CANAMALAR
He started his course in 2019 i’m not sure if he’s finished it to get the badges needed….
ST STIVS will know …..
So not seen much about the game in Mexico where 17 dead in crowd violence on the UK news, is it being reported?
I thought it might have been discussed on here.
Marspapa,
thanks for the reply

I am aware that everyone in Turkey believes that anyone who talks up tax cuts and social reform are labelled evil Commies.
If you honestly believe Putin and his troops are Communists, then I suggest that even this blog is too challenging for you.
Had to pop in to say thanks for the Putin’s a communist joke. Hilarious.
Tremendous stuff.
I wonder. Could Scott Brown be Ange’s confidant???????
Putin favoured Brexit and favours Scotland leaving the UK.
I’d have thought the board’s Ataturk would have been a fan.

No.
Too great a prior connection to the club to have undivided and unconflicted loyalty to the manager.
” Do thousands of people march with torches and swastikas on the streets of our capital or other cities in Russia, like it happened in 1930s in Nazi Germany? Is something like that happening in Russia? But it happens in Ukraine, and it is supported. Do we support those who killed the Russians, Jews, or the Poles during the war? Do we hail them as heroes? But in Ukraine, they do.”
Well obviously that is not true. Either that or our world class media is not being strictly truthful.

After seeing the difference carter vickers made to our defence and how he has performed all season he was bound to attract attention , he will head back south unfortunately . Jota I believe will do the same , talent like that won’t hang about…

Share your concerns on these fronts. Sure hope CCV is enthralled enough to hang around for the Ange journey – if we’d made more of a dent in Europe, mibby that would have convinced Cam that Celtic Park is better than the Kung Pow or other arenas. Course; mibby he’s loved up with us and has no intention to assess EPL options. None of us really know – some do kid on they do – but we’re just a bunch of auld gasbaggers, gasbaggin’ away.
Smashing that we have big Jullien in the wings to slot in there next to Carl, who’s improving by the week. And we do hear great things about Peter Lawal’s son, Bosun.
PS: For me, I think CCV is a must-sign for the future. I think we won’t miss Jota if we get Daizen and Kyogo in harness but…mair gasbaggin’…

MARSAPA
True story.
I may be wrong, but i do not think we have a definitive reasoning for the ” Z “
Hot smoked,
I still believe the nazi’s are a minority in the Ukraine and are based in the western regions.
However like those in Germany before the war, their reach is exagerated through intimidation and propaganda.
I honestly believe when the Russian’s take control the real Ukrainian majority will surface and assist with the prosecution of the nazi’s for their crimes against humanity. Hopefully this will set the Ukraine on the right path to freedom under the control of no one in a true democracy and well aware of what the US and their NATO brought to their door. I even expect as a neutral they will gain access to the EU and I believe Russia will have no problem with that arrangement as long as no NATO.
However on the flip side, I am also reading there are currently 20,000 CIA trained mercenaries taken from previous CIA sponsored conflicts including ISIS and AlQaeda, ready to pour across the border into the Ukraine in an attempt to turn it into an Afghanistan.
This does not bode well for the Ukrainian people as they will be as much targets as the Russians. It does suit the US as it will allow them to try and turn their sights to China and cause similar problems. I expect the Russian’s know exactly what is coming and why they proposed safe evacuation routes for civilians. If thats what happens it will become a gloves of war that will not last as long as the US hopes. Is that Russian propaganda or informed opinion?
Is it okay to post something non political? I do hope Scott Brown will return home. He could do a great deal to put some Celtic pride into some of our team. Perhaps even teach Callum how to be a commanding captain. What about it Scottie? I am sure you are strong enough to stand up to our invisible Board.
