Celtic played their best football in months last night. Why? Well, the shape of the team was different. Scott Brown was no longer in the anchor role, leaving that in the capable hands of Eboue Kouassi (20 last month). Eboue joined this time last year, but has spent most of the intervening period getting to grips with life at Celtic, as well as overcoming illness. He did just fine and went some way to justifying the significant fee Celtic paid.
Olivier Ntcham, no stranger to a robust challenge, played the advanced role of the middle three, while Brown had the freedom to forage wherever need was greatest. It worked.
You will also notice a nascent partnership emerging between Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard. Both thrived. We were even treated to the sight of Moussa collecting a clearance from Dorus de Vries before releaseing Odsonne inside the Celtic half. The big striker stretched his legs to speed away from the Hearts defence before scoring the opening goal. This worked too.
Brendan may have considered the effects of both wing partnerships being broken up. Kieran Tierney was without Scott Sinclair and James Forrest didn’t have Mikael Lustig, but both flourished.
Moments after coming on, Charly Musonda created a chance with a delicious back-heel. Moussa should have converted what would have been a fitting herald for the new loan signing.
My big takeaway from this game? Teams have had 18 months to figure out how to combat Celtic’s play. We have stuttered, in part, because teams knew what to expect and prepared accordingly. Teams need a second system as much as they need a second strip. We now have ours.

Motherwell Chief Exec or whoever in charge of transfers should get his Harry Potters, a club that size can’t afford to knockback 375k for a run of the mill GK they got 6 months ago for 10 grand
We were talkin’ about £40.000.000 for Moussa not long after he signed for us for what………half a mill?
Let the wee clubs enjoy their 5 minutes of stupidity!
!!BADA BING!!
I would imagine Carson is raging. He would have been in for a hefty wage rise and a move to the biggest club hes ever been at.
They gambled with our situation, and lost, both the club and the player. Dont try and play poker with our Brendan.
Is Scott Bain the goalie wi’ the beard and the pink jumper, always played well against us??
Barney67,
exactly Motherwell tried to take advantage of the situation,
£375k is a decent offer,i imagine they will have a very unhappy keeper
on their books now
With Scott Bain and Jack Hendry coming in that will be the end of business in, from what I hear.
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!

Even with Hartlepool having a 40% sell on clause, Murderwell would have banked about £200,000. Seems a strange decision to turn that down.

shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I think if I was Carson, I would be disappointed with Motherwell and annoyed with my agent. Bought for 10/20,000 , agent should have inserted sell clause figure in contract. 200,000/300,000 would have been reasonable at the time.
Carson clearly thought it was a goer to Celtic as he deleted his Twitter account, always a sign that a player thinks his deal could go through.
Hail Hail
We turned down £7million for Morelos
I listened to the podcast with Frank McGarvey.
My favourite to date. Frank was opinionated, a tad spikey at times, very forthright and honest too.
TOHG chipping in too, it made for a fab listen.
I loved his recollection from May 1986 and puting Sandy Clark in his place. I also agreed with his comments about Charlie Nick.
Well done to all who put it together.
Hail Hail
I remember the MotherwellChief Exec and Grant Russell attempting to stir up trouble for Celtic by claiming the footage of the penalty Celtic were awarded in the 1.1 game showed it was not a penalty, apparently running about showing the footage to whoever would look at it,BR even commented on this, just shows you Celtic do not bear grudges but spin that Russell and Mr Chief Exec, you have played poker with the wrong club.

JH to sign and stay with dundee until end of season?

Lovely to see Motherwell getting done over by their own greed and stupidity
Leftclicktic. 7.07.
Aye you can’t blame him for going to Arsenal.
I always say very few would stay put when someone is offering 10x what you are earning at present.
Hail Hail
Tonight I will be mostly supporting* Spurs**, Hibs, Sheep*** and Stirling Albion. Supporting Fraserburgh is, of course, taken for granted.
I see that Morelos is on the bench. Surprised as I assumed he’d want to leave the clumpany that he supported as a bhoy by signing off with a hat trick.
* – a midweek coupon may have been placed
** – Tottenham v Man Utd is live on BT Sport 8.00pm kick off
*** – who I expect to go back into 2nd place
Any reports of Wan Hung-Lo watching the Colombian stooge at the Fraserburgh “game” ?
Ibrox still in a China Crisis, I see. Can they hold to Maorelos? You could say it’s…pandamonium,
I’ll get my coat.

Morelas won’t do wok- in away.
The £8 mil striker is on the bench v Fraserburgh……aye right….
JOBO BALDIE on 31ST JANUARY 2018 7:19 PM
I see that Morelos is on the bench.
==================
He must be enormously unsettled by the mega-bids, and the sudden realisation that he is a £10 million player.
Since the whole shabby thing is a Jabba/Hun construct, and the Huns’ strategy all season has been to unsettle players/managers in teams they are just about to play by lodging fake bids for them, the irony is simply delicious.
Even the Hun support have seen through this one. It’s beyond pathetic.
