Celtic-City partnership brings Roberts to Glasgow

497

Very pleased we have signed Patrick Roberts (18) on loan from Manchester City for 18 months. A few quick observations on this signing:

He’s another wide attacking player. I’ve lost count of the number of wide attacking players Ronny has signed but it’s far too many. Only Stuart Armstrong has come close to making regular appearances. This means we are still short of suitable options here, so need to recruit for the position, and that we have made a number of serious oversights.

The ideal signing is a loan with an option to buy. Next is a straight purchase, then a loan without an option to buy, but the market is changing.

I mentioned last month that as a consequences of the uber-rich hoarding players (Patrick is a case in point, £12m for a player who will be peripheral for years), mastering the loan market will be a key element to enable clubs to over perform.

Celtic appear to have struck up an understanding with Manchester City, one of the richest clubs/biggest hoarders in world football. There will be rich pickings here. Such was the demand for his signature, Patrick wouldn’t be near Celtic Park unless on a loan.

Jason Denayer’s time at Celtic worked very well for Celtic, the player and City, which is why we were able to secure Patrick for 18 months. More of this kind of thing, please, Celtic.

Welcome to Celtic, Patrick.

At the famous ludge meeting whereupon the 5 way agreement was made with Celtic´s PLC fully represented. It would appear that it was professionally estimated by our in resident and all powerful experts that it would take ten years for the Old Firm to be fully back in business. Acceptance that never in a gazillion years – especially with what is going on at the moment, are any teams from this footballing backwater ever going to get invited to even any second rate European league. This being a problem for the moustached Ebeneezer as that´s all he cares about.

Celtic would not stand in the way of the hun rejuvenation at any level for an exchange that Celtic would get a run at ten in a row and can turn a wee profit every year. A league cup or a Scottish cup would be sacrificed every season possibly even both at the altar of spreading around the glory to the wee teams until the huns get back. That will keep the delinquent turnstyle fodder interested with their “remember the day we went to Hampden and we were in the local courier” memories and allow them to accept the huns wounded position and situation while Celtic keep winning the SPL. With the proviso that Celtic cannot be seen to be doing well financially within the CL and winning everything before them domestically. We know that is very achievable for Celtic but it will kill the Scottish game that only works within certain parameters, That would not fit in with the affordable product replacement strategy. An attempt to realign the entire Scottish game. Celtic will collect UEFA coefficient points hopefully along the way meantime awaiting the rejuvenation.

The faith of the non Old Firm fans will be boosted while doing so, get them back believing in the product with a few nice day out memories. Make the spend gap smaller between the Old Firm and the rest. That will keep the moustached Ebeneezer purring as he has no interest except avoiding any situation where he might have to dip into his reserves rather than getting some beer money every annum. The blazers, journoes, pundits, ground keepers, mascots, catering staff, ticket staff want to keep their jobs. They and their welfare (and ours ;-) is far more important than the development of the sport

A previously non involved manager within the Scottish game would need recruited for the Old Firm to see this one completely through. Better safe than sorry. Rangers by the time their rejuvenation would be complete should be capable of stopping ten in a row. Which should result in wee increase in interest and TV revenue will be seen. Everyone will be happy it will all be back to normal and we hopefully will be well placed for when the EPL bubble bursts.

    Lodge meeting is now closed.

Marseille must be downsizing as well.

    Obviously -)))

  4. Genuinely excited about Patrick Roberts, Well done Celtic

The Colin Kazim Richards one is just bizarre, surely we could do better than non scoring journeyman with a bad attitude ? he has not only got the potential for being another waste of wages but could also be a disruptive influence in the dressing room ?

Signing someone like him isn’t progress, there are far better options available, Griff needs a challenge to push him on, he certainly isn’t getting it with Cole, Ciftci and now CKR, not good enough Celtic, one bad injury to Griff and we’re in trouble.

  5. Has the development team’s dismantling of the wee huns game been abandoned yet because it’s a wee bit blowy?

    Only half kidding sadly.

FT Celtic 3-0 Rangers. Double from Nesbitt and a goal from Chrisite give the Hoops the victory and 3 points at Lennoxtown.

It was a play on words, not a very good one, I’ll admit.

However, Pep’s a father-figure to him, and there could be the question of a rather large tax bill to be paid.

Unless that’s all been sorted out, of course.

  12. I have nothing against Loans in/out but I think we have to be very sure about the point of it – I think Denayer was brought in last time because we didnt have anyone else ready in that posiition – not a great situation but an acceptable better than the alternative solution

No this young fella may be very good, he may be a favour to man city, he may just be a bit of bling to cover over some bad headlines but heres the main question – what have we promised him and city in terms of squad position/playing time and what does this signal to others in the team – lets say mcgregor/forrest up their game with the new competition and become first choice – how will that sit with city? Should Mr Boerggiter not be given a few even sub appearances to put him in a bit of a windown (whens his contract up) if hes now 5/6th choice wide man should we not just terminate the contract if its short or try an play him a bit (when leading at home say) so he has some value?

Or are Forrest and McGregor also out the door???? Not sure I see the logic

  13. As we speak.

PL is hunkered down snugly in a luxury tent/hideout, with all his communication gadgets glowing red hot.

A bit like Howard Hughes was but without the moustache and mormons:)

They are still fitting out his Dr NO style hideout….Mountain, with a sliding top for DD’s private jet.

TD67: Reading back from a long way but felt I would like to comment on your post earlier. We did indeed lose a cup final to PT. However, I can assure there were more than 1 player that day who were patently obviously giving their all. Yesterday was an affront to the support in the effort being put in . With the foul count alone we were crap. I would have committed more fouls myself if I thought we were being cheated and I would have put my head in where it hurts to make or prevent a goal! There isn’t a Sean Fallon or Roy Aitken in there( maybe KT). That’s what sickens my chops.BTW I have the false teeth to prove my commitment and I wasn’t playing for Celtic and that nearly 60 years ago. We have too many chicken shitters!

  19. Wee Michael O’Halloran.

I assume then he was wired up, even back in 2010. I was there, straight in line in the N Stand lower, but wasn’t sure about the tech equipment he had.

Still, not having seen it at all, I’d’ve thought he might want to have checked what exactly the other official had seen happening, especially given the immediate angry protests.

He awarded it instantly, no consultation with his assistant ref.

Not that that would’ve made any difference, I suppose.

So Nesbitt and Christie put Sevco to the sword today.

Why wasn’t Nesbitt on the field yesterday instead of the jokers trotting around doing feck all most of all Johansen..?

  25. Roberts on loan & CKR on a free. Thus far no transfer fees spent on deadline day, does this indicate a lack of trust in Ronny from PL & DD?

  26. Ronny’s relationship with Manchester City pre-dates any relationship City had with Celtic and Lawwell
