You know I love a bit of financial chat, but there is so much to do before we can consider the potential £50m that awaits in the Champions League, after Uefa announced a spectacular increase in financial distribution for next season.
We have four rounds to negotiate. Two, possibly three, will be difficult. Right now, our chances of going through stand a little below 50%. There is a lot of work to do in the coming weeks. Don’t go counting on that £50m yet.
No harm to Nadir Ciftci, who wil leave the club at the end of the month, but he was made for different times. His talent was evident at Dundee United but his work-rate there never marked him out as a Ronny Deila player. It was an astonishing signing which sent worrying signs about our recruitment processes at that time.

GGH
He played against Morton, LC, then is was never to be seen again
HH
I was watching the odds in the U21’s game, 0-0 it was 9/2 scotland and 5/6 the brits, @ 1-0 scotland it was 1/1 and 10-3 the brits, thankfully I decided that the brits were a decent bet :-)
Typical scotland, glorious failure.
DD, you online?
Tontine Tim , fanastic read as usual, thank you.
Stevie Chalmers was the second oldest of the Lions after Faither but I may be wrong.
Charlie Gallagher sits about 4 rows in front of me in the South Stand. The man who took the two most important corners in our team’s history.
Tontine Tim, that game Bertir sat on the ball was the Lions ( minus Faither) last game .
My dad took me to the game , taking his Cine camera also.
He managed to get some footage of the game from the track in front of the deid club end , beside the blue invalid cars, but unfortunately it was not best quality.
Bertie sitting on the ball is my main memory of the game, I was seven.
TET : Cheers. Thought he did ok that day but might have been a bit off pace for SPL at that point, Surprised when he didn’t reappear.
Tontine tim : Great read about Stevie. One of my all time favourites.
Best of luck to Tony Cascarino with his operation after Russia.
He should’ve been better at Celtic but his temperament & nerve seemed to let him down..
His own reflection on his demotion to the reserves..
“Life with the reserves was a sobering experience. At Hamilton, the dressing room was so small that I couldn’t satnd up without bumping my head on the ceiling but, removed from the hostility & pressures choking me at Parkhead, I began to enjoy myself again.”
Keep well big mhan.

DALLAS DALLAS
Was at that game,6-1 I think.
*
Stevie is a large part of our history, there was only one person who scored the winner in Lisbon. I think Joe was unlucky being injured around Christmas, but Yogi was unlucky to be injured in May.
Just your luck,it’s either in or it’s not.
Where’s Delaneys Dunkey?
GGH
Problem for me is that he should have been ready for the scottish league, he was available for Leipzig, had a training camp with us and then trained at Lennoxtown for a while but nothing apart from the Morton game, just no right, something is not adding up, as I said he would have been well enough scouted, or you would hope so, will he be in Brendan’s thoughts for next season, who knows, if he isny we need a defence sorted pdq, £40-50 mill is in the balance.
HH
Good luck to Tony Cascarino, just shows that you never know what is around the corner.
We should all be thankful for what we have, as my auld maw used to say ” there is always someone worse off than yourself”.
Hail Hail

How are you my friend?

Bobby, it was 6 1. One of the first games i remember going to.
My dad always parked at Parkhead Cross , close to St Michael’s church then down Springfield Road , going by all the closes then into Janefield Street. I used to get so excited seeing Celtic Park . In 2004 when I took my then 4 year old son to his first game , we walked the same route as my dad and I did to Celtic Park. I could feel my eyes filling up and heart burtsing with pride.
Delaneys
Belated best wishes mi amigo, I hope you have many more.

Dallas
My dad took me to that game v Clyde. Was a last of the Lisbon Lions game. I was 5, I remember that day clearly. Possibly my earliest Celtic memory of a match I attended at Paradise. I remember my first away game clearer. I was 3 and remember Morton strips clearly in contrast to Celtic strips at Cappielow.
HH
Dallas.
Cumbernauld are 5.1 up in their semi final. They were down 1.0, equalised right on half time and have ran riot in the second half.
Pollok are 3 up at Glencairn in the quarters.
Incidentally Pollok lost 3.1 to Cambuslang on Monday, I think that was the West of Scotland cup.
Hail Hail
can’t watch the grenfell tower stuff

Has Chris Lennon Scored HH
TET
I hope I have many more birthdays too.
A big difference to where my head was 6 months ago.
Thanks for the kind wishes mi amigo.

Delaney’s , a great time for you to go to your first game and understandibly being confused with Morton wearing hoops.
Franny.
Yes, he scored the third.
Hail Hail
I’VEHADTOCHANGEMYNAME…
I couldnt either after being in a severe house fire, luckily all my family got out bar some burns to me.
Put BBC 1 on, the 1978 world cup and the build upto Argentina. Takes me back to when i was young and nieve and didnt realise how corrupt and bigoted our game was.
The fire was 1980 incase you thought it was recent. HH
Jimmynotpaul, Paddy will be delighted with tonight’s game and getting to a final. Hopefully, most of Cumbernauld’s team will be avaialable for the final.
Pollok will probably play the semi final , assuming they win tonight, this Saturday. I assumehe final will be played either next Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday .
If its a Cumbernauld v Pollok final , I hope to get to it.
It was the West of Scotland cup Cambuslang beat Pollok in last Monday.
Dallas.
Finished 6.1
Pollok won 3.0.
I’m fairly sure they play Perthshire in Semis so they will be strong favourites.
Final at Newlandsfield as you know.
Also for Park Rd, Girvan 0.0 v Auchinleck.
Straight to pens.
Sadly for Park Rd.
Talbot won 4.1 on pens.
Irvine beat Arthurlie 2.1 in first leg of relegation/promotion play off.
Hail Hail
JIMMYNOTPAUL
Great result for Cumbernauld tonight , Girvan unlucky but just want to get play off games bye now and hopefully stay in top league !
glad to hear it sipsini – traumatic I bet
Hello lads
are we getting value for money?
Saw an amusing article in one of the papers today, which put a transfer value of the players in each of the teams that qualified for the world cup …
France just edged out Spain and brazil, all just around 900 million pounds
At the other end of the scale… you could buy the entire Panamanian team for about the cost of Edouard Odsonne!
hhmmm….
https://soccer.nbcsports.com/2018/06/06/transfer-value-of-every-world-cup-squad-revealed/
Belfast rules,folks!
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/jun/06/the-new-rules-of-pub-etiquette-dont-flirt-with-bar-staff-or-steal-the-glasses
Jesting,of course. See y’all there!
BMCUWP
No flirting with bar staff?! That’s ridiculous … No chance I”m showing up then.
Does it count as a flounce, if I hadn’t actually said I was going in the first place?
You guys have fun!
:)
DD, its just I sent you a happy birthday and you never replied. Mayble you never saw it so Happy Birthday!
Park Rd 67.
Good luck against Troon.
As you will have noticed Irvine beat Arthurlie 2.1 in their first leg. They were winning 2.0.
I would imagine there won’t be a lot in it, nerves will play a part too.
Hail Hail
Looking at the potential opponents in our four rounds, it is very hard to assess our true chances. And there is no spending transfer sum that guarantees us anything. Coaching and organisation, rather than new faces, will get us through these 4 ties.
Round 1- Most potential opponents come from smaller leagues but the likes of Cork City, Spartak Trnava (Slovakia) Shkendija (Macedonia), and Olympic Lljubljana (Slovenia) would give us tougher ties.
Round 2- The top 3 unseeded teams (Midjtylland, Red Star Belgrade and Hapoel Bar Sheva are frightening enough but the easier teams include the champions of Hungary, Romania and Bosnia (Videoton, Cluj and Mostar).
Round 3- All the unseeded teams are of a potential Pot4 CL level- Qarabag, BATE Borisov, Dinamo Zagreb, Sherrif Tirasapol, Malmo and AEK Athens ( I would want Malmo again out of that lot).
Round 4- two of our 4 potential opponents are CL level Pot 4 Level- APOEL Nicosia and Legia. Of the other 2, the Swiss Young Boys are a better outfit than Astana, despite being lower rated.
I would be praying for the familiar terrors of a Malmo and Astana challenge to get through the last 2 rounds.
I would hope for the Crusaders(NI), Sant Coloma (Andorra) or Tallin (Estonia) in round 1 and maybe TNS (Wales) in round 2.
Nightmare draws would see us against
Trnava (Slovakia)
Midtjylland (Denmark) or Beer-Sheva (Israel)
Qarabag (Azerbijan), BATE (Belorussia) or Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia)
Young Boys (Swiss) or Legia (Polska)
Have kept wee eye on ralston and dont think he is ready for our first team. Get him loaned out for next season.
Need to sign a first choice rightback, punt gamboa and let lustig run down contract next season.

Cluj FC
Courier Man who brings me books /dvds and vinyl is a Cluj Man.He and I have a long standing agreement that if Cluj were ever to draw Celtic, then He and I would drive to Cluj for the game.Having been in Bucharest cant say I fancy a couple of days in Cluj.!
I hope to god we qualify for champions league and no matter who we get it will be a hard shift. All the teams we play are champions of thier league so respect is due, we do that and we have a chance.
