The March international break is one of the most important of the club season. It is when managers and coaches get to take a proper look at the players targeted for the summer transfer window. The Celtic management team will have looked at dozens of players on video since the January window closed, but, this break from domestic football, gives them the chance to do the Grand Tour, their last opportunity before the end of the season.
Having despatched his nearest two rivals away from home, with 10 men, in recent weeks, Brendan Rodgers took enormous pressure off the remainder of the season, which now largely consists of preparing for next month’s Scottish Cup semi-final. Energies will have made a significant switch towards preparing for July’s Champions League qualifiers.
Getting these decisions right can be the difference between success and failure; Brendan will have used his ‘time off’ wisely.

D66- my only hope when we play internationals , is all our Bhoys come back fit for our next game.HH
Auld Keevins swinging with the wind.
Thinks MacLeish should be given time and a chance but won’t be…..I guess he’s half right, eh?

As soon as we all joined in they twigged and went mental. Thankfully it was a plastic tumbler club. Only a few cuts and bruises, but we had the Blackpool dames to ourselves the rest of the night. Happy Days :)
John Wallace was a mad Tim. The 1690 votes might have been a wind up.

By the time “You will never ever beat the IRA” was been sung the tumblers and fists were being flung at us. Remember this was at the height of The Troubles.

More than likely.
I’ve shared that photo with some of my Year and the consensus is that I am correct. So the photo would predate 1979 as we qualified in 1978.
The Tom Ferrie poster has to be Jan 10th, 1970 as it has 8/- on it and not 40p.
How much was a pint in those days? I remember 12.5p a pint in 1975. 8 pints to a £1 :-))
McLeish is beyond inarticulate when he talks about the game. Total Football incoherence.

Went on St Margaret’s bus to Pittodrie a few times back in the day, think their chapel hall was called Caratcus Club ? Unless I have just made that up !
————————
Caritas Club – here is what it’s all about – a very good cause https://www.caritas.org/
The Easter Bunny – fertility symbol brought over as part of Christian appropriation of pagan feast days – made it easier to converting the locals if you let them keep their traditional feasts.
Must dash – holy chapel stuff for me and Wee BGFC.

Bmcuwp and David 66,,
About the Celtic left back again from last night, just catching up.
Can’t believe I forgot Lee Naylor.
Also there was one season wonder Danny fox .
A couple of things strike me when you look at the overall list of left backs going back 20 to 30 years.
The player in front usually wasn’t known for his work rate so it was easy to get exposed.
But this worked two ways,,you couldn’t effectively help your left mid if you’re not very good and just focused on your zone or keeping your position in he team.
No wonder Mc Geady was usually upset,,he had gash behind him a lot. But again just like Naka and Maloney he never tracked back much so it was a two way street.
Not much has been spent on the position.
In the main it has been filled locally.
Whether these are good or bad depends on your viewpoint.
I think we’ve done ok. But I do agree there have been some cringe worthy times.
Naylors last season,,Camaras only season especially for me.
I like to think my namesake Stephane can hold his head high.
He was left back for the 6-2 game. I think Mon didn’t see him as long term solution and eventually Ulrik Laursen got the nod. He was solid right enough and he didn’t bomb forward so the position became much more stabler.
In comparison the right back position has had a higher success rate imo when you consider the players that have nailed it for seasons at a time, not just one as many left backs have.
Lustig
Jacky
Telfer
Agathe
Again some churn which is expected with Mathews, Cha but in the main the position has been nailed down more often than left back I think.
The two positions are now possibly the most important position on the pitch with a lot of responsibility laid at the feet of wing backs. They are going for big money. Pep in particular needs them in order for his system to thrive.
No news yet Mick. Soon though.
Hail Hail

MTM– I feel the left back position for years (a few exempt and certainly KT is exempt) is what the centre back position has been in the last few years. A nemesis of a position that we struggle to fill. If that makes sense.

Scott Brown, classy player and more important a classy human being..

Ghuys has emdy heard if the Celtic Musisal is going ahead HH
MTM
I should have added that I think Ajer is capable in the SPFL, young Hendry will be the same and I think he could fill in at left back.
Europe though is a different story. These boys until they get experience will be a bit raw at that level and prone to errors, I think both can learn and will be exceptional players for the future.

never mind Celtic The Musical, I’m worried about my ‘bucket list’ visit at the end of May to see Gilbert O’Sullivan!
More seriously, I was on The Pavilion website a few minutes ago. They hope to give detailed information about the events scheduled for the next couple of months with the options being cancelled / postponed / rescheduled to a different venue.
