The March international break is one of the most important of the club season. It is when managers and coaches get to take a proper look at the players targeted for the summer transfer window. The Celtic management team will have looked at dozens of players on video since the January window closed, but, this break from domestic football, gives them the chance to do the Grand Tour, their last opportunity before the end of the season.
Having despatched his nearest two rivals away from home, with 10 men, in recent weeks, Brendan Rodgers took enormous pressure off the remainder of the season, which now largely consists of preparing for next month’s Scottish Cup semi-final. Energies will have made a significant switch towards preparing for July’s Champions League qualifiers.
Getting these decisions right can be the difference between success and failure; Brendan will have used his ‘time off’ wisely.

AOW – Hail Hail

David66,,
when you look at it overall,,for very little spend relatively we have ticked by at left back with a series of churn and it was only until Izzy that the position was nailed for the first time in a decade with someone who could deliver what was expected and possibly needed in the modern game should you wish to thrive,,
attacking and defending full backs. He was better going forward though.
Izzy took over from Charlie who was moved inside to partner Rogne remember? Charlie didn’t have the pace needed but was a solid soldier imo. Good value for money.
MON,, he turned to Ulrik Laursen because he didn’t go forward.
This suited the system because Didi loved to bomb forward and if both full backs attack at the same time you are prone to the pick off.
Burnley in particular this year are doing well off that philosophy,,one forward the other stays back.
Glasgow Celtic have traditionally pushed both full backs forward with the intent of swarming the opposition with chances to create via men on.
We have rarely seen coordination between both sides of the defence.
In Europe in particular teams will pick you off easily should you leave a back two.
They will play two strikers and a man off. Youre done.
From what Ive seen of the current defence KT sits higher on the left and is under instruction to attack as much as possible. Its not really a back four then,,more a dog leg line of defence.
Lustig, should he stay, should sit more. Best for his legs and possibly the length of his career.
If replaced the next guy should be more aware of KTs position than most on the pitch.
DD, Tosh was your pal! Nice brother.
My uncle Gerry felt the same about his mucker Anton
indeed its my pride and joy still,,a photo of a young pimply spotty boy with blond mulletish thing,
but its signed to me. And that makes me very happy.
A mate who loves the hammers had the occasion to find himself in Lennys company for the evening and after talking about me for the evening to him Lenny says ffs gimme a pen and a bit of paper and I’m now in receipt of a wee note thanking me for all my support,,in his own words.
Its the wee things that count eh? Hope youre well.
Hail Hail
But overall like I say I think left back has been value for money and just about pass marks.
AoW
Discovered today that David66 was a good bhoyhood pal.

Night and day differences between him and Brendan in engaging chat. He sounds punch drunk, Brendan like Ali in his prime. :-)

I saw you asking about deep fried Mars bars, they are no myth, they started in the Carron chip shop in Stonehaven many many moons ago, the bloke who “discovered them” is called Ingram Mowat, he was a good mate of mine when I lived there.

IMO, a stroke of genius lining up the Republic for Broonies testimonial. A few sare heids the next day, for all the right reasons, I would imagine. Glasgow might run dry, especially if we win the treble.

Pity Dallas went to that posh school. He was still a pal of mine fae Knightswood though.
