MIKEY JOHNSTON and Liam Shaw have left Celtic on season-long loan deals.
The former Scotland Under-21 winger agreed a temporary switch to Vitoria Guimaraes while the English midfielder has moved to League One Morecambe.
Johnston, 23, signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the champions until 2026 before he finalised his move to Portugal.
One of his last starts for the Parkhead men was the 2-1 win over Hibs in the Premier Sports League Cup Final at Hampden last December.
A club statement read: “one year contract extension. One year loan. An extended contract at Celtic for Mikey Johnston”Our Bhoy embarks on a season-long loan to Portugal with Vitoria Guimaraes. Good luck Mikey!”
ENGLISH CHALLENGE…Liam Shaw is prepared for life at Morecambe.
At the same time, Shaw moved to Morecambe and is ready to be pitched straight into the first team for Saturday’s match at Bristol Rovers.
He signed a four-year deal at the Hoops when he joined from Sheffield Wednesday just over a year ago, but made only one start before joining Motherwell on a temporary transfer for the second half of last term.
The 22-year-old prospect’s only start came in the 3-2 Europa League Group G win over Real Betis at Parkhead in December and he also had a nine-minute cameo in the team’s goalless draw against St Mirren in Paisley three days before Christmas.
Shaw arrived in Glasgow at the same time as his Hillsborough team-mate Osaze Urhoghide who has just agreed a season-long deal at KV Oostende after impressing at the Belgian club on another temporary deal last term.
