CELTIC DRAW MORTON IN CUP AT PARKHEAD

CELTIC will face Jim Duffy’s Championship outfit Morton in the Scottish Cup quarter-final next month.

The Hoops, 3-2 victors over Partick Thistle yesterday with the assistance of a wonderful hat-trick from James Forrest, will look forward to welcoming their former player and his Cappielow side who overcame Dumbarton 3-0 yesterday.

The Greenock men will represent the third last challenge on the way to Brendan Rodgers’ hopes of a historic second successive treble with the champions huge favourites to retain their title.

No-one will ever forget the courage of Kieran Tierney making his way from hospital last season to hold aloft the trophy after Tom Rogic had scored the stoppage-time winner against Aberdeen.

Elsewhere, Derek McInnes’ team, who beat Dundee United 4-2 at Pittodrie this afternoon, have been handed a tricky home tie against Kilmarnock.

Motherwell have been paired with Hearts at Fir Park while Sevco Rangers face Paul Hartley’s Falkirk at Ibrox.

Former Celtic winger Gary Mackay-Steven netted twice as the Dons overcame their Tannadice foes to book a place against Steve Clarke’s club who hammered Brora Rangers 4-0 at Rugby Park yesterday.

Graeme Murty’s Ibrox side were given a scare by League One Ayr at Somerset Park when Alan Forrest, brother of Celtic’s James, claimed the opener in the 11th minute, but the visitors levelled before the interval and the roof fell in on the home side when they conceded five to go down 6-1.
