CELTIC EURO CONQUERORS THRASHED

CELTIC’S Champions League conquerors Kairat Almaty were on the receiving end of a second successive hammering as they crashed 5-0 to Real Madrid in Kazakhstan.

After collapsing 4-1 to Sporting Lisbon in the first game – with the Portuguese side scoring three goals in three minutes – the team that dismissed Brendan Rodgers’ side were hit by another whirlwind last night.

Kylian Mbappe ran amok with a hat-trick while Eduardo Camavinga and Brahim Diaz chipped in with the others.

The French superstar took his goal tally in the elite competition to 60 with his threesome against hapless opponents in front of a 22,788 crowd.

Mbappe got the show on the road with a 25th-minute penalty-kick after keeper Sherkhan Kalmurza had flattened Franco Mastantuono in the box.

He doubled his tally in the 52nd minute when he latched on to Thibaut Courtois’ long ball over the top and cutely lofted it over the outrushing Kalmurza.

Mbappe missed a glorious chance to seal his trio when he fired wide from close range, but he made amends with a neat shot on the hour mark.

Substitutes Camavinga and Diaz both netted to complete the rout in the closing stages.
