CELTIC’S Euro League rivals Zenit St Petersburg have made a £12million bid for Brazilian defender Rodrigo Caio.
The Russians are searching for defensive reinforcements and are closing in on the Sao Paulo stopper, who would be eligible to play against the Hoops in the Last 32 tie next month.
Zenit tried to sign the 24-year-old international a year ago, but he was reluctant to move to Russia.
Roberto Mancini, though, is confident Caio will accept an enhanced offer this time around.
Caio was poised for a switch to Valencia two years, but the move collapsed following his medical.
Zenit do not see that as a problem and Mancini is desperate to add to his squad.
Brendan Rodgers’ men take on the Russians in Glasgow on Thursday, February 15 with the return leg a week later.
