CELTIC EURO ROUTE REVEALED

CELTIC’s qualifying route to the Champions League group stages will consist of three one-legged ties followed by a two-legged play-off.

UEFA’s executive committee today announced their plans for next season’s elite competition.

The governing body have taken the decision to avoid a clash with the closing stages of the 2019/20 campaign, which will see the Champions League and Europa League played out in Portugal and Germany respectively.

The top tournament is due to be brought to a conclusion in Lisbon on August 23.

The Hoops face a continental qualifying action on August 18/19, before a second qualifying round on August 25/26.

The third qualifying round is due on September 15/16 with the play-ffs scheduled for September 22/23 and 29/30.

The group stages of the top competition are still due to continue as originally planned, starting after the international window on October 20/21.

The closing stages of the Champions League will come in a series of one-off mini games in Portugal before the grand finale in the country’s capital.

Scotland’s Euro 2020 qualifying tie against Israel is now scheduled for October 8 with a final against Serbia or Norway to potentially follow on November 11.
