Celtic face higher than body temps in Armenia

288

While the World Cup is a nice summer distraction, the serious business of Champions League qualification gets underway for Celtic one week tomorrow.  Right now, the temperature in Yerevan, Armenia, where we will face Alashkert, is an egg-frying-on-the-patio 38°C.  It’s to be higher-still at 7pm.

Brendan Rodgers may consider it wise to send his players out to pace themselves for the first 89 minutes or so.  Playing in heat warmer than body temperature is not something you can acclimatise to in a few days.   PLayers’ bodies will react in a way they will seldom, if ever, have experienced before.  I would bite your hand off for a draw and no remedial medical attention required.

Best of luck to Dedryck for Belgium’s round of 16 tie against Japan tonight, although I’m beginning to cross-reference World Cup Champions League dates.  You would not bet against Belgium remaining involved until the last weekend.

You will rue those words. I have inside knowledge and I can tell you that Destiny….Aye ‘Destiny’ ….has plans for those who conquer the heady heights of the Tunnock’s Trophy!

And let me tell you….In 1986ish as I was meandering between Boston and New York earning an honest living, the big film was “Crocodile Dundee”.

Surely you don’t think it’s a mere coincidence that the Salamander sculpture could just possibly be a crocodile ….or ALLIGATOR and where are you going ….NEW YORK….and from where are you coming…GLASGOW!

“Alligator Glasgow” hits Harlem. ….I tell you, it’s all in the crumbs.

    Petrofac cup indeed. Hurrumph!

    Hail Hail

I’ve no doubt story is true, just think Petrie will make us and the Bhoy wait.

  5. If we have bid for McGinn, he will sign for us. He may need to wait it out for a few weeks but he will sign for Celtic.

G67- they are getting Allan for free really, maybe Ralston or similar on loan plus £1.5-2 mil IMO

Really good docu on Sky Sports about West Ham playing last game at Upton Park, and fans having their club turned upside down, thank The Lord for Wee Fergus, couldn’t imagine not seeing us at Celtic Park.

  8. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Chairbhoy, sorry for not replying sooner,. I’m watching a documentary I had recorded about how American soldiers shot and US planes indiscriminately strafed South Korean civilians at No Gun Ri. America denying all responsibilty.

If the clubs had more courage and nouse, they could bring down the SFA but the level of contempt in Scottish football towards us , means nothing will happen.

  9. Why doesn’t the board put a 40 million price tag on tierneys head. Let’s c who’s serious then. We will survive without tierney. He is a class act tho. McGinn will become a legend 2. The board r responsible for this tierney talk. Imo.

Hello again all you young rebels.

Well our young bhoys still sitting top of the league after a fine

1-3 victory over another one of our main rivals.

With only ten men and a ref straight from the masonic school

of mibbery and a very hostile crowd our lads came from a goal

down to win with a fine solo effort from the wee mhan in the

    last ten minutes.

Their baying crowd expected a win and i don’t think they took

too kindly to the wee baldy linesman (me ) telling them all to go

and throw scheidt at themselves 8-))

When you’ve played with the hoops on in Kinning Park then these

chumps ( Big Jimmy ) are just pussycats he. he.

Off up to the sunshine coast in Queensland for a week with my

wee princess 50 years married, ffs, you get less time for a double

    murder.

I’ll always remember her sweet words she whispered in my ear walking

down the aisle ” you don’t know how lucky you are ”

But i’ll still get my Celtic fix as PADDYMAC assures me there is a new

    CSC started up there.

Celtic eh ! i’m sure if i went to the middle of the Amazonian jungle i’d

find a wee hoopie commune in there somewhere.

    Wha’s like us?

    Soukous,

re moral obligation to the fans. I would say that by becoming owners / board members they have a moral obligation to uphold the traditions of the club and to be as best custodians as they can until such times as they move along , but I guess you could say they have an obligation to put as best a team on the park as they can, while being sensible, so yeah youre right in my book. After all he was free. If KT is pushed it will not end well but I sincerely doubt they would be that silly.

I would have liked the gaffer to say he could grace any team and we are lucky to have him fullstop.

    Hail Hail

Bada, thats a cracker . Actually know Colm whos twitter that is. Small world.

  13. MAHe, thanks for the further good reading, sharing some of your local insights at 9.13.

    Fascinating scat. ;))

Regards the Belgians – that’s the one that fires them into a real toe-to-toe humdinger with Brasil. Confidence up, smell that trophy; but I fear their backline will eventually be savaged by pace and guile. High-scoring defeat, possible extra-time before collapse.

Engerlund – the hype’s so out of control they’ll be savaged too – by their own media/fanbase if they don’t at least make the final. Tuesday night’s the night – if James Rodriguez plays, Colombia slice them apart at will, Falcao will nail 2 at least; if James’s out/half-fit, the English have a 50-50 chance.

Mick Lustig – can’t wait to see a Tim in the last 16. Will have a couple of quid on Mick to pop up with a header, and another couple on him borrowing a Russkie Commando bunnet to celebrate, and hope he’s the failsafe for the quarters shuold Colombia turn up stoned later on.

Ditto, good to see you posting again.

Again ditto, hail hail and woof woof.

  15. This will be my last on here for a while/ever. Not much reading I enjoy, fed up getting ignored when I’ve addressed a post to someone.

As far as replies to posts.Seems to me that it doesn’t matter what you type on here but it does matter who types it. There is a cliquedness ( is that a word ? ) that exists on here that is detrimental to the blog imo.

The series of leaders that denigrate the blessed MON’s time with us are very irritating and one sided in their reporting. Not quite sure what he’s done to deserve such harsh criticism, it’s what I would expect to read about his time in the MSM and not befitting of his time with Celtic fc.

One noticeable occasion amongst many, which saw a very good Munich team ( lizarazu, Ballack, Khan and co ) celebrate a draw like they’d just won the CL was a mark of how far we’d progressed on that stage , a height we haven’t reached since.

On a positive note. In my year and a bit I’ve enjoyed most of the interchange I’ve encountered on here and thoroughly enjoyed some of the music that’s been shared.

come on mate I’ll indulge you.

Agree about the denigration of some great Celtic servants here on CQN quick view.

  17. DBHOY

Most posts on here go unanswered. It’s how it is and personally I’m not bothered.

However, what you say is correct IMO. There is a clique and some posters only have to say “Buenos Dias”to have multiple acknowledgements.

  18. Has there ever been a more ridiculed player than Neymar.

Some of the facing book posts are hilarious.

I hope he enjoys his money, because his reputation and legacy is trashed.

    Dbhoy don’t bail.

You’re very right about Mon though. Up to this point it’s the best hoops team I’ve ever seen.

I have posted before that I suspect PL was jealous of the sway Martin had both over the support and his boss and one easy stick to beat him with is you didn’t balance the books and we lost money under his tenure.

The more pertinent question would be to ask was he tasked with balancing the books?

I personally think Dermot told him take the reigns and raise our profile believeing the Epl was within sight.

When that proved a no go he said balance the books. Martin, with a sick wife also , said sod it. That’s my take.

On cliques it only natural people that have met or know each other respond to each other a bit more or give more attention to their pal than a stranger. Don’t take it personally.

After that Munich game we were ranked above them in the ESPN world rankings. They rated us as 8th best team in the world at the time. Yet their manager, the man who raised us to that lofty position takes flak?

Myself and my late father often debated how we would have improved the team,,what we would have done to take it to the next level. And when your already 8th in the world the next level is another star imo.

    What needed done imo

Rab would have went so a new keeper.

Lenny would have went ( sorry son too backwards and sideways ) and Thommo would have been moved inside and a top class left winger bought.

I think was it,,,2 players needed to lift us.

    New keeper

    Joos

    Bobo

    Johann

    Jackie

    New left winger

    Thommo

    Lambert

    Stylian

    Didi

    Chris

    God

Lenny on bench to close her down plus Maloney to stretch he game if need be .

    Hope you’re well,,Hail Hail
