CELTIC will meet Spanish cracks Valencia in the last 32 of the Europa League following today’s draw in Nyon.
It’s an exciting tie for the Hoops with the first leg due in Glasgow on February 14 with the return a week later.
Coincidentally, the Spanish outfit were the first opposition in European competition in season 1962/63 when Jimmy McGrory’s men lost 4-2 in Spain and drew 2-2 at Parkhead.
It was a tough baptism for Billy McNeill and Co with Valencia the holders of the now-defunct Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, now the Europa League.
Bobby Carroll went into the Celtic Hall of Fame by becoming the club’s first goalscorer in Europe with a double in the first game.
