Celtic fans being toyed with

284

I am trying hard to avoid transfer speculation.  For the most part, it is wide of the mark and reflects publishing deadlines, not actual events.  Feel free to imagine you have a column to fill and just go ahead and write stuff yourself.  It might be helpful to know that Celtic are not waiting on Champions League qualification to decide to spend money or not.  This is just not true.

Suggesting otherwise does not make sense.  We are a football club who are about reaching the Champions League and winning trophies.  Achieving these goals puts money in the bank, which makes the goals more achievable in future.  Leaving money in the bank puts zero money in the pockets of anyone working at Celtic.

Telling fans Celtic have tens of millions in the bank but are waiting to see if they will earn more before spending, is like a sport.  They are laughing at us.  Celtic fans are being toyed with, largely because information on Celtic’s transfer work is not leaking.

I couldn’t let the resignation of Queen’s Park president Graeme Shields go without comment.  Two games into the season he left citing “an increased level of personal and online abuse towards myself and others associated with the club”.  Fans of small clubs always bang on about is how entitled fans of the bigger clubs are, that they go along not expecting to win anything and that it’s all about the banter with their mates.

That might be true for some of them, but there is a hardcore in society who struggle to find fulfilment without hurling abuse at an authority figure from a safe distance.  You really need to wonder why anyone would get involved in football.

  1. EKBHOY , maybe, but I’m listening to Brendan Rodgers. I think he knows better than anyone of the needs of our team needs. So far , he’s not been supported. (so far)

Bournesouprecipe. I hope Celtic haven’t been lulled into a false sense of superiority due to their slow start to the season. They are going through a major overhaul – club, players , management and tactics. It takes time but they have shown they have dangerous players and they will sign 3-4 more players who might make them click.

“At 25, Irving’s prob not a neat fit for ‘the club model’ but more like what BR says he wants; something nearer the finished article. Our coaches can surely lift someone of his profile to higher levels.

The “club model” is a CQN myth.

Granted, our Chairman and other members of the PLC Board would like this business model followed.

However, to ensure the best football team available, we should not be restricting ourselves to some convoluted “metrics” idea of the most profitable segment of footballers.

Rather, we should be aiming to get the best possible player available for the position that needs strengthening.

Would you ask our highly paid recruitment team to perform Thoracic Aortic Dissection surgery.?

Of course not., that is not their specialised discipline.

So why ask ordinary patrons of a blog to find suitable players ?”

Because a sizable number of the ` patrons of a blog` claim, albeit inadvertently, that they know more than the professionals involved about finding `suitable players`.

  5. We demand names!!

Someone said that before……..who was that?

And we all shouted him down

Yes, its a hugely different thing

    But

    We/they

    Demand it

    I`ve enjoyed your contribution today.

I think I have said before that I feel supporters of teams in England would be stunned by the response of so many CQNers to our incredibly successful club.

  7. I am mostly chill with regards the signings or lack of them

We will have a good enough team to scoop the spl

And if we struggle, we always have our infamous winter window – we always do fine there…..

Am pretty sure we wil make signings

Am pretty sure some will work out

    And some will be shit

  8. The hand of God on

B 78 , why do you constantly ask posters to come up with players for Celtic to purchase ? How many times have poster pointed out to you that Celtic employ people tp do that job.Had you ever heard of Kyogo,Maeda,Hatate,Jota,Khun,Abdaa ect. before we had signed them ? I certainly hadn’t.If Celtic paid me a large salary and flew me across the world all expenses paid to watch football matches I possibly would have seen some of the aforementioned players .We pay people to do this job so why do you keep asking posters for names?

  9. and whilst I’m at it – they invented this type of operation ; E First carried it out in Ireland and exported it around the world to form an empire. Cucking funts slaughtering all around them.

  10. Burnley78 @ 1:56 pm,

You are just making stuff up again aren’t you?

The Manager has made it crystal clear that he is not involved in finalising the recruitment of football players.

Yes, Kuhn Nygren, Simpson-Pusey etc etc

Have said talking to the Manager persuaded them to come to Celtic

Yet the salary and transfer fees agreed with other Clubs have a lot to do with that obviously.

Until we get Nicholson’s danglers to a position of commercial agreement, it is pointless to ask our Manager to work his magic.

As for our Manager siting on 40 mn off the supporters money, not spending it, that is ludicrous.

Last week it was the manager can’t be trusted with money as he wasted 26 mn.

The week before it was the Board not spending the money until BR had signed the contract extension put in front of him.

What will next it be next week?

You ain’t fooling anyone, well, not many anyways.

    Hail Hail

B 78 , I never always agreed with your thoughts on Celtic but grudgingly admired how you always defended the club, players and manager but like the Incredible Hulk you have underwent and Incredible metamorphosis , can you tell us what happened please?

  12. The hand of God on

B 78 , that was a genuine question.Everyone is entitled to change their mind of course but your position seems to have changed radically which is your perogative but I just wonder why that is ?

Hope nothing adds to any lulling of false sense of security, if it does it’s unlikely to come from observing Sevco. Besides, I could be wrong but poor Sevco have made an almighty Albert Halls of the beginning of the latest new era/error

Even their ‘good’ signings haven’t won them a league game, and three games in, St. Mirren is a priority after all. The highly successful Celtic transfer strategy is currently under the microscope, because of a perceived delay. Any comparison with Sevco is a pure waste of time

George Galloway and his Workers Party GB will end this colonial imperialist settler hell hole, if Tims grow the fk up and make WPB/ALBA Party the working class, socialist James Connolly policies Government in Scotland.

Then England, Wales, Ireland, Eu, Us, etc will be wanting some of that ass kicking WPB/ALBA stuff.

    How will this happen?

WPB/ALBA will kick Scotland’s erse onto the reality planet, by, IMMEDIATELY, Zero dialogue with the Starmer London rigged end of the world themed dump.

And start digging for Scottish Peoples own coal, oil, gas, and put Lab/Lib/Snp/Greens/Con and other woke, climate change scammers, covid vaccine genocide monsters, all israel lobby controlled parties, in the dock, and get them to explain why Scottish peoples money has been backdoored since Tony Blair opened the Scottish fake Parliament back in the day?!

AND, open a website were Scottish People can click onto at any time of day and you’ll CLEARLY SEE, were your money has gone to and why.

AND, Use all of the coal, oil, gas, revenue monies IMMEDIATELY into the Scottish peoples pockets.

Snp themed indy would not have worked as you would have been dumped into the Eu trap and left to rot, not allowed to vote your way back out again, sounds good right? lol

WPB/ALBA, would give you Independence from ALL of the British economy traps, “nae money a big Tory took it and ran away”, like the bs we’ve had for the last 17 years under Snp crookedness, or the last 40 years of austerity under Thatcher and Blair, and other lobby group controlled puppets.

Galloway would insist on the lobby being banned from Scotland, and you would be shocked to see just who was/is controlled by them.

In short, Vote for the revolution or wait till the tyrants starve you to death by locking YOU out of their planned digital money traps that they have been planning for at least 30+ years.

When a key apple employee leaves then the owners of I phones are not jumping around moaning on blogs that apple should be recruiting better and paying more and behaving like they are experts in how to go about recruiting industry talent.

I doubt any would even venture to suggest if they were good bad or indifferent in that area.

I also doubt any other senior employee or manager at apple would be publicly suggesting apple was not recruiting well or trying to do so.

In fact if any senior person suggested such they would be disciplined or even fired.

  18. All the experts on here.

None with any solutions apart from Quadrophenian.

A bit like running a football club. Or running a business even. So easy sat back with no accountability on a gaming screen or even raging at those in authority on a blog.

  19. I wonder if any of the ‘experts’ on here ever ask themselves why are they typing in perma rage against those in positions of authority (but never offering actual practical solutions) rather than actually in a positon of authority or control ?

    Thanks for responding.

I may need wrong, but I was pretty sure that around that time Rodgers also said that he saw Maeda as a winger.

I personally think we overworked Maeda towards the end of the season. He would start games on the wing and then about the sixty-five minute mark he would move into the centre when Idah went off and yet you would still see him running Forty yards to pressure the opposition in our left back area.

Maeda plays the centre role for Japan, keeping Kyogo out of the national team (a lot of people forget that, however we prefer to play him wide but it stands to reason that if he plays through the centre then we are two wingers down from last season plus Jota who is injured.

I personally don’t think we’ll see the best of Jota again until next season as he won’t have had a preseason under his belt and having had a long lay off. Again, we knew we had lost him for that length of time before the end of last season so the decision to sell Kuhn without sourcing an adequate replacement first is all the more strange.

I think we all want Celtic to be the best they can be. My suspicion is, that for at least the last five years we’ve been stockpiling cash in order to create the illusion of competition domestically and that is hampering us in Europe.

    Burnley78 …

I’ve never held a senior position at a football club and almost certainly never will.

Don’t judge a guy until you’ve walked a mile in his shoes … and all that.

Like you I find the constant criticism tedious.

So, what small steps could be done?

For me, a tiny bit more communication from the board would help.

If they don’t have hard news to share … even just recognising their most important employee would rather not field queries about transfer business ad nauseam … and stating publicly something like …

“We’re a team trying to make this happen. Brendan is part of that team. We’re working together and are hopeful. None of us like that it takes so long SOMETIMES. We’ve brought in 7 guts, there will be a few more to come before end August”

The UK invented Israel – this is the desired outcome.

That may be true but, as i see it, Israel is the enemy of britian. They will use every ally until they achieve greater Israel then turn on those states. Although they are actively destabilising their main allies in the usa, UK, Germany, france etc.. the government’s of all those nations seem to be using this instability to meet their own agenda’s as pick off at our human rights with each passing bill. It would seem, in the uk that the goverment are using the violent actions of the extremist right to help pass bills to silence, persecute the left &, anyone in between who dares show empathy towards those that are victims of genocide. Anyone that is paying attention will know that the extreme right are financed & manipulated by Israel.
