Celtic fans being toyed with

284

I am trying hard to avoid transfer speculation.  For the most part, it is wide of the mark and reflects publishing deadlines, not actual events.  Feel free to imagine you have a column to fill and just go ahead and write stuff yourself.  It might be helpful to know that Celtic are not waiting on Champions League qualification to decide to spend money or not.  This is just not true.

Suggesting otherwise does not make sense.  We are a football club who are about reaching the Champions League and winning trophies.  Achieving these goals puts money in the bank, which makes the goals more achievable in future.  Leaving money in the bank puts zero money in the pockets of anyone working at Celtic.

Telling fans Celtic have tens of millions in the bank but are waiting to see if they will earn more before spending, is like a sport.  They are laughing at us.  Celtic fans are being toyed with, largely because information on Celtic’s transfer work is not leaking.

I couldn’t let the resignation of Queen’s Park president Graeme Shields go without comment.  Two games into the season he left citing “an increased level of personal and online abuse towards myself and others associated with the club”.  Fans of small clubs always bang on about is how entitled fans of the bigger clubs are, that they go along not expecting to win anything and that it’s all about the banter with their mates.

That might be true for some of them, but there is a hardcore in society who struggle to find fulfilment without hurling abuse at an authority figure from a safe distance.  You really need to wonder why anyone would get involved in football.

  1. The Huns will fancy their chances against Salzburg- they may be resubmitting their application to postpone st Mirren if these scores finish as they are.

  2. Salzburg have scored two goals tonight off thank of a 0.5 XG.

No doubt their luck will take a sinister turn if they play sevco.

  3. Back to Basics

Totally agree. Coms from the club other than asking us for money is dire.

Of course at a critical time the club may not want to show its hand publicly to all we are negotiating with but sharing some broader vision would be good.

I never thought it was a strength of PL but the guy in charge now is totally invisible.

That said we are transparent on the numbers and are run efficiently and effectively and communicate on that. Of course football all is about more than that.

Calling bs on this ‘big boy did it and ran away’ diversion straight out the Trump locker.

First, the Board has serious form for behaving precisely in this way.

Second, it’s not the Daily Ranger or the Scottish Hun we’re listening to, it’s the manager.

Oh that’s right, yes the enemy within. It’s the St Aloysius boys we should be siding with here.

  5. Paul,,just utter drivel. The CL,if you get there, takes care off itself. The most important game of the season is the play off.We go into it much weaker than last season.Jota,Kuhn,Kyogo, all missing and not one replaced. We are not being toyed with, the Board are ripping the piss out of the fans. You and your little cohort on here should be ashamed of trying to aid them with your ass kissing, and Trump follower support.

  6. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Justshatered – cheers.

Honestly can’t recall what Brendan said about Daizen’s best position.

I think ideally he is half and half.

Here comes my old chestnut about minutes played per season.

If you want your best players to be better .. so the team is better? … traditionally there are probably two main approaches considered.

    1. Buy new, better players

    2. Make current players better by coaching, tactical awareness and athletic capacity

I genuinely believe football is missing a trick big time.

Play them less often. Keep them fresher and more free of niggling injuries.

    Change the deployment model.

100% fit 80% of the time, not the other way round.

Back to Daizen. 4,000 minutes max.

1,600 on the wing. 2,400 as a striker.

Means we need another 3,600 minutes striker time.

If Adam can match Daizen’s 2,400 minutes

(the equivalent of 24 full matches but stretched across many more) ..

The other 2 should be good enough to pick up 600 minutes each … not to make up the numbers but rather a genuine contribution.

And I’d go as far as having their conditioning programme (this season only) adjusted to meet that 600 minute need … more frequent sprints with fewer rests, more aerobic capacity for shorter periods, less focus on “lasting a full 90 minutes”

  7. huns could have shipped 3 or 4 goals easily this half

thats 2 rounds of champs league qualifiers that they should have lost a few

just as I type they lose another from a set piece

    Alarm bells should be ringing

as rhey only 2 decent teams they have played this year, they have been humbled

  8. and dont forget they are getting beat and are very, very lucky to only have lost the 2 goals

this is a shit show from them again

  9. Just watched the last four minutes of the Huns` game. If that was typical of the whole game, then Sevco were by far the better side.

    Cheerio for now.

  10. HS

    it was very untypical

They should have lost atleast another 2 or 3 goals

They have come up against a team who cant finish again, and tbf butland had a few really smart saves

The only 2 decent teams (motherwell and dundee) they have come up against they have stumbled

    Very poor team

Despite being fast as fook in the transfer market

    Gantman and Gashamama were pish

  11. I never seen the Sevco game but I was on YouTube and turned on the rangers rabble….that’s about the 5th time I’ve watched it.

I find the host. Martin to be a decent football fan who loves his team and fair play to him.

However…it’s abundantly clear that the wee guy to his left has been snorting cocaine.

    C”mon Martin…sort it out😣

  12. I didn’t watch them either, but I see Plzen had an XG of 3.5 tonight. That’s a helluva lot ! For context, we had an XG of 5 when we put 8 past Dundee Utd.

That Huns defence looks extremely vulnerable.

  13. The returnof weeron on

I watched the 2nd half of the Brugge game.

Both teams looked good. Whoever has to play Brugge in the play off will have tough time.

    Weeron

  14. I really want Slovan. They look very leggy right now. This looks like pens.

Both teams struggling to create. Some nice play but real lack of cutting edge from both teams.

  15. bigrailroadblues on

A fine afternoon was had today with Park Road 67 and Leggy. Fine Celtic men and great company. Thanks Bhoys 👍

  16. Weebobbycollins on

I can’t see either of these teams eliminating us from CL.

    How is that for arrogance?

  17. Extra time in Bratislava both sides lacking bravery and finishing in the big play off to see who will face the mighty. 🍀 in 40m play off.

  18. if it wasn’t for butland and a bit of composure, that team would easily have scored 5 or 6 tonight , easily! They had 19 attempts and half were good chances.

btw – I understand players knocked out of qualifiers are allowed to play for another team in the champs league and eligible for competition. Maybe Celtic waiting for players who have ben eliminated – Adu Prince looked rapid and dangerous and at 21 his decisiveness can be coached.

  19. Glad to see the dodgy streams in Slovan Bratislava suffer from the same problems as they do in the UK lol

    =========

Huns were shite, have massive problems defending set pieces and crosses from deep

Can’t play out from the back, have little defensive cover from midfield when they lose the ball (which they do frequently)

The rest of the league will be licking their lips watching them

Not too many hand shake type gimmes either, the only hun manager stymied by a driven owner (ok major shareholder…..)

SHould be a great season for them lol
