Celtic fans being toyed with

284

I am trying hard to avoid transfer speculation.  For the most part, it is wide of the mark and reflects publishing deadlines, not actual events.  Feel free to imagine you have a column to fill and just go ahead and write stuff yourself.  It might be helpful to know that Celtic are not waiting on Champions League qualification to decide to spend money or not.  This is just not true.

Suggesting otherwise does not make sense.  We are a football club who are about reaching the Champions League and winning trophies.  Achieving these goals puts money in the bank, which makes the goals more achievable in future.  Leaving money in the bank puts zero money in the pockets of anyone working at Celtic.

Telling fans Celtic have tens of millions in the bank but are waiting to see if they will earn more before spending, is like a sport.  They are laughing at us.  Celtic fans are being toyed with, largely because information on Celtic’s transfer work is not leaking.

I couldn’t let the resignation of Queen’s Park president Graeme Shields go without comment.  Two games into the season he left citing “an increased level of personal and online abuse towards myself and others associated with the club”.  Fans of small clubs always bang on about is how entitled fans of the bigger clubs are, that they go along not expecting to win anything and that it’s all about the banter with their mates.

That might be true for some of them, but there is a hardcore in society who struggle to find fulfilment without hurling abuse at an authority figure from a safe distance.  You really need to wonder why anyone would get involved in football.

  1. Stop talking sense P67. It will never catch on.

As Jesus Mary and Joseph said in occupied Israel “what have the Roman’s done for us?”

Is the St Mirren game off or on. Great result for Celtic, CL here we come.

    Prestonpans

Clubs only get that if you go out at that stage

    Thanks for the clarity 👍

  3. B78 – “Personally I would have loved us to lock a few of the current ones in for a few more years whilst we bring in better but I am sure our manager knows best

Glad you clarified that it was BR taking those decisions and not the board that won’t break the wage ceiling and structure to reward players who can earn significantly more by moving elsewhere.

Let’s be fair here, Brendan wants to keep his best players but inderstands the club wants to sell them when there is a significant offer for them. Brendan also understands the board will not sanction a huge increase in Maeda’s wages, for example, so the chances of locking him in are remote.

Not fair to insinuate it is Brendan who is not keeping our best players around. And to be fair to Brendan, Ange and our other manager’s they all understand that is the Celtic model.

The problem is continually trying to replace top quality on the cheap and with loans and ending up with a bloated squad that may or may not have a few rough diamonds.

I think we all reluctantly accept that is the Celtic way and has been for many years.

  4. the long wait is over on

Leaving all else aside, we are playing a team in Kairat which has a maximum capacity of about 23k , almost at that for their home game against Bratislava, but more significantly IMO an average attendance of c6k in the 2025 season, so on a par with say Dundee or St Mirren.

I appreciate it may be a simplistic comparison but I don’t think we’d fear playing either of them over 2 legs , even if the away leg in this tie is time zones away.

They’re going to be playing us in the first leg in a stadium 3 times the size of theirs and , hopefully, at near capacity.

We really need to try and put the tie to bed in the first leg, ideally a clean sheet and with at least 3 goals to the good.

Thankfully, we have a gimlet eyed, battle hardened striker up front who is banging in goals for fun.

    Oh, wait…

  5. I really think there IS a player in Yang, really do. The guy is given the odd few minutes, hardly any time to hone his skillset. Reminds me of the great |Gary Player quote after it was sggested he was lucky. The more I practice, the luckier I get.

Team for Thursday, wild I know

Sinisalo, Ralston Pusey, Trusty and KT

McCowan, Engels and Benjy or Bernardo

    Forest, Maeda and Yang

Mad, maybe, but it will show if they are good enough

If only our manager knew how to play wingers once they have been double marked, low blocked, out of the game, then Adam Idah would would be like Ian Rush.

To get the best out of wingers you need to play on the break were wingers will mostly have a ball to run onto, rather than receive the ball once the opposition has closed down all of the attacking areas, making wingers turn back the way with their tripping Khun faces on.

Any chance bbc will cover it?

Not a chance. TNT comes into play at the play-off stage.

I see it has been reported that more than 40% of those arrested during the Farage riots in Southport while fighting to protect their womenfolk had previous convictions for domestic violence.

  9. Nobody is getting the ” jitters” about our CL opponents.

But it is a legitimate question to ask why ?

What part of Central Asia is in Europe.

    HH.

  10. Twice the size of Texas and home to Baikonur Cosmodrome for the USSR/Russian Federation, and Almaty is well to the east of it,

  11. KL- it’s like Yang is missing one thing – whack the ball ahead and leggit or cross early or follow into the box.

At the moment , ( I am a fan of Idah ; I would have him in the squad easy peasy) I feel we’re playing with a player short with Idah. He comes short, he’s not there for a tap in, he’s quiet but not getting the big moments in games. His head drops.

With Yang it feels like there’s something to work on

  12. I see the gobbling grifters Gallowayette

    An out and out unionist.

Still s pacman stuck in its own square.

Poor wee kev, racism it’s only way to get attention

Squeam and stamp your racism gets Celtic fans attacked like in Dublin on champions day

Coke heads wifebeaters and racists from the north meet cokeheads and rapists from the South

Funny this cabal of racists is a crowd of junky scum wean tamperers looking to control when reality is they are excluded due their own criminal records
