Celtic get passing rhythm right

148

Hearts manager Neil Critchley had clearly watched Celtic’s home defeat two weeks earlier.  The visitors pressed Celtic from kick-off, unsettling the champions.  There was even a repeat of an early corner kick drama.  Again the Celtic defence failed to attack the ball and a chance fell to Lewis Neilson.  If anything, the Hearts player was too close to goal, as Viljami Sinisalo’s frame on the line blocked his route to goal.

Celtic got off the hook on that occasion but the game was soon to turn their way.  Jeffrey Schlupp took a pass from Maik Nawrocki and moved the ball on with his first touch to Callum McGregor, who was already on the move.  McGregor controlled the ball before playing a delicious pass around the Hearts defence and into the path of Daizen Maeda, who slid his shot past Craig Gordon in the Hearts goal.

Whatever intentions Hearts arrived in Glasgow with were then undermined.  Having split them open once, Celtic were able to again.  Midway through the opening half, Nicolas Kuhn cut inside and chipped for Maeda, whose timed run caught the Hearts defence stationary.  Jota finishing the rebound off the post was another example of moving attackers meeting stationary defenders.

The first two goals came from the wings but the third, through the middle, was a text book example of crisp and fast passing.  Nawrocki took out four Hearts players with his forward pass to Arne Engels, who nudged the ball into the path of Reo Hatate.  When Reo poked the ball on to Kuhn the entire stadium knew the third goal was on the way.

With their gameplan in ruins, Hearts retreated to a defensive block for the second period.  They needed to take that early chance from a corner kick. The champions are not flawless, but if you pass up chances, you are likely to leave with a defeat.

SS- The tickets go on to partner websites for ridiculous money,Boehly at Chelsea has been rumbled for doing similar, to a website he owns

  2. lets all do the huddle on

the prices on the ticket exchange is the same price the STH pays. and they get that money back,

were is the tourist paying a premium to liverpool ?

how do they work out what a STH pays for an individual game when?

its not as simple as dividing the season ticket price by the number of games.

is the price for a Man U game the same as a Fulham game?

  3. SS

By restricting the season tickets Liverpool are fleecing their fans by charging more than a pro rata ST.

  4. lets all do the huddle on

so if im a liverpool season ticket holder and my season ticket cost 700 quid for example.

i am going away on holiday for a week, so im missing 2 home games against man united and fulham.

if i put my season ticket on liverpools exchange, how much will i get for each of those games?

the same amount for both games? i doubt it very much.

my guess is you would get the same amount as someone buying a ‘paper’ ticket for the same area.

which would be much higher for the man united game than the fulham game.

and definitely much higher than whatever you could work out the pro rata season ticket amount to be.

  5. lets all do the huddle on

but im still all for the ticket exchange at celtic.

just that liverpool restricting their season tickets to 27000 does sound like a scam.

if celtic done that it would mean we could sell 25000 tickets for huns games at ’49’ quid a pop and make a fortune.

im sure we would all agree that would be a scam as well!

  6. lets all do the huddle on

my guess is you would get the same amount as someone buying a ‘paper’ ticket for the same area.

actually you couldnt get that or it would be a great way to make cash!

so the club would have to work out how to differentiate between big and wee games, then work out how to pro rata that against your season ticket cost.

and im sure they will keep some of it as well.

scrap season tickets. pay at the gate every game. sorted!

  7. Tim Malone Will Tell on

Not sure exactly how the Liverpool scheme operates but at Brentford…

    1. Market rate is set for each home game either as Band A or Band B game.

Band A game may have a market value of £55 and Band B £45.

This is the price that someone registered on the “membership scheme” will pay for a spare ticket posted onto the ticket exchange forum by a season ticket holder.

    2. Season ticket holder credit is calculated on a straight line basis – so if season ticket costs £500, the credit for a ticket sold through the exchange is £500 dividend by 19 (number of home games) = £26.

So there is indeed a difference between what the club charges (£45 or £55) and what the season then cket holder receives (£26) which represents a profit and incentive for the club to run the scheme.

It works very well and there is an incentive for all parties to use the ticket exchange.

Whether you like it or not, this is the future…paper tickets and season cards will rapidly become a thing of the past.

I would expect that all clubs will implement an exchange scheme – but spare tickets will probably only be available to registered members.

  8. lets all do the huddle on

the thought of celtic taking 50 odd quid for my season ticket for a game against the hun that i couldnt make, but only giving me about 27 quid of it would make me sick.

i would just give it to someone i know for free.

  9. Bada

Next time you’re walking down the high street squirt some water on a an old biddy passerby and see what happens.

  10. !!Bada Bing!! on

Gene- it’s laughable, we had a physio seriously assaulted in their main stand, nothing happened, bottles thrown at Joe Hart, smashed on the crossbar, delayed start to the second half, nothing happened, and the Board said……..

  11. lets all do the huddle on

Police Scotland dismisses Cerny incident, no surprise there

    —-

the interesting thing about that incident wasnt that it was the worst crime ever committed, because it wasnt.

but its the hun fans all laughing about it as if we are making something out of nothing.

my point to them would be – if one of their fans who were (disgracefully) allowed into that corner for the game, had skooshed a bottle of water at a celtic player while they were taking a corner, what would have happened to them?

they would probably have been seen by the cops, arrested and charged with a public order offence, and likely banned from attending grounds for a few years.

yet i reckon an incident like that by a fan is far less likely to result in any sort of incident than a player skooshing into a crowd of supporters.

so as far as i can see fans can now throw water at players and nothing should come of it?

but we know that wouldnt be the case, fans will end up in court.

  12. lets all do the huddle on

but dont squirt water from a bottle at oppositon players, because you arent allowed bottles in the ground so you will get done for that.

but from what i can work out, the cops have said it is ok to throw water at players from a soft drinks cup for example.

  13. The amount of empty seats was very noticable around the 72nd minute onward.

However, even if a ticket exchange system was in place who is to say that those ticket recipients would not also leave early ?

We need to address the fundamental issue of pathetic transport and unrealistic road management. Unfortunately we can do nothing about the horrendous weather.

On a slightly different topic. We get searched at Airports for a reason. Why object to a search .going into a football match. Surely the potential can be very similar?

I have just returned from a place where you get searched going into Shopping Centres. Hotels, Marinas etc. It is the norm.

But you all know Lockdown was the trial and acceptance for many draconian public measures.

not sure what you are referring to.

but if its related to the green brigade incident before the huns game then that is misplaced.

they werent going into a football match when that happened.

they were a mile away about to walk to the ground.

we get some sort of a search at the turnstiles at loads of games and no one bothers.

but i dont get searched when i step out my car to walk to the game, and wouldnt put up with it if i did.

thats what happened the other week.

    totally bang out of order

If I buy a ticket (not going), would it be a almost impossible to pass the ticket on (app, qr etc)

I am obviously thinking of the potential final draw chances

The perp who threw a bottle and injured the Celtic Physio back in 2023, Alan Crawford (from Grangemouth) pled guilty and was jailed for a year and banned for five years.

  19. So,if Cernyy goes over to take a a corner at Ibrox,in our corner ,and gets drenched by our fans, not too far from him, netting no barrier, will that be seen as ,a bit of fun,a non chargeable incident?.Heaven forbid,I would put ideas in anyones head.

  20. If the fan that got sprayed with the water, had been caught doing the same to Cerny,we all know what the Police would have done, what the media would have said.

I am sure Rottweiler Nicholson will be all over this.

Over to the football authorities now,who could not” Interfere when a Police investigation was ongoing”. 😂😂😂😂😂

  21. LADTH,

The point i am feeably attempting to make is searching will soon / should be the norm before entering any public event. Even being in the vicinity will be enough.

Expect more section 60 orders. The local community do not even need to be informed beforehand.

How else will you stop pyro ?

  22. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Police Scotland are 5 weeks early with their dismissal.

Now the football authorities will have to deal with it before the season’s end.

    Who knows?

Perhaps they’ll ban a guy who is certain never to return after the summer from matches played in next season’s competition.

    After all, they have form.

yeah but unless i am attempting to enter a football ground then i dont expect to be searched a mile from the ground.

search me at the ground! which does happen.

the other thing about this though is the pyro obession – there is bevvy getting brought in to every part of the ground every game. surely an empty half bottle is much more dangerous in a stadium than a smoke bomb. so because that happens all over the stadium should that not mean that every fan should be searched for bevvy a mile away from the ground if the precedent at the hun game is anything to go by with the cops ‘pyro’ excuse?

all bollocks by the cops, just authoritanian pish

  24. Celtic Fans on here saying about home fans leaving early,I really can’t blame the weather on Saturday was atrocious and watching that set up passing from back ,I can’t blame them from watching that system that Rodgers won’t change, If Rodgers signs a new contract in the summer, which I doubt he will,he better change his system and tactics.

  25. Watching the World Curling Championships from over in Canada on the BBCi

Scotland playing Canada, one of the best at this sport, one, which I’m guessing the Scots took over there with them back in the day. Mention of Moose Jaw, not sure whether that is where it is getting played or is one of the Canucks on their team. Of course curling is one they Sports where the Scots have occasionally been at or near the top o’ the world, that and elephant polo, where we were up there wi the best o them, until they banned Circuses that is. Now when I say curling, I’m not talking aboot that that thing wi the tongs (ya bass), no about that historic sport played on ice using the granite from and only from Ailsa Craig off the Ayrshire coast. Wouldn’t surprise me if the Donald has his eyes on it, as in a ‘we’ve got to have it….’ kind of way.

Close match 3-3 at the 6th, with the Scots still on the hammer, a dangerous situation for any opponent, historically speaking….

  26. Thousands have always left early, unless a really tight game. I am going back to 1962. The difference is that you can now see empty seats. There were no seats back then. The crush going down to the exits was horrendous, the Ibrox disaster could have happened anywhere. At Brockville in 1974 (nine in a row) I was sixteen and strong, I was crushed against the wall and gradually worked my shoulders until I fell backwards into a turnstile, that was going into the game!

The matchday experience, apart from actually watching the Bhoys, is next door to shite.

have posted on the liverpool scan before – everton fans call them the tourists club – whereas everton call themselves the peoples club.

as for cerny, what did we exepct. balagun spat on the fans with no punishment.

  29. The hand of God on

Yeah that Rodgers better change , 10 out of 11 domestic trophies won with a fairly decent chance of making it 12 out of 13 .just not good enough.
