Celtic get the ball rolling with Griffiths

318

So Leigh Griffiths is set to be a Celtic player today.  I bet we could all guess a few topics covered at induction.  He is in because he scored 23 SPL goals for Hibs last season, more than anyone at Celtic achieved, and is currently Wolves top scorer with 12 goals.

Despite appearing to predictably win games 4-0 recently our problems in attack are evident.  Anthony Stokes is our top striker but has scored less than half Kris Commons’ total, while defender Virgil van Dijk matches or better the rest of the strikers tally.

Leigh is the second striker we’ve brought in this month but at 6’2” Holmbert Fridjonsson is a completely different proposition.

More later on this and others, I’m sure.

  1. Paul, I think you’d agree that Hibs strikers, seldom if ever, play against teams who park the bus.

    Fin 75,

haha yes indeed the ole tried and trusted “Off and On” scenario has been employed. Unsuccessfully. :-(

As for the smart app, ive still got a company-issued blackberry 9900 which is on its last legs and is useless for going online imho!

I fly more or less every month with AF/KLM to SE Asia/Japan. decent service without being brilliant, but very reliable. Schipol a good airport too. Unlike CDG though! And as a platinum member they do look after me in events of any problems. Even the occasional upgrade etc.

Weeminger, yes tried that also. nae luck there either. Very strange it is too.

I’ll use the fall back of tablet or ipad or even laptop.

Just would prefer to find a solution to this is possible though.

    HAIL! HAIL!

Any idea why we didn’t try and sign Griffiths in the summer

Read a story yesterday (can’t remember where) that NL wanted him in the summer but Wolves wouldn’t sell him.

Well I said about a month ago Joe Ledley had been offerred big money to move to Crystal Palace and a few on CQN rubbished what I had been told now it seems to be coming together good Luck Joe and Thanks I know its a money thing.Leigh Griffiths will in my opinion be a good signing for us he knows where the net is.I hope the rumour of Ambrose to Fulham is just nonsense but Know if PL gets a big offer for a player his eyes light up.H.H.

  5. When asked why Celtic didn’t make their move for the Scotland international in the summer, Lennon said: “I am not convinced he was available then.”

  6. (sorry repost missed the new article)

In other news.. I see Ivan Ramis – erstwhile on-off Celtic target – is likely moving to Palace too.

A couple of years back this guy was going to be the solution to all our defensive ailments but has since failed to make it at Wigan.

This is the same Wigan with Gary Caldwell at CB.

(to be fair he has had some bad injuries)

  8. I just wonder who Griffiths is going to displace from the starting line up…..Pukki or Balde ???

  9. Leigh Griffiths will do a good job for us. Screw the nut son, you’re at a big club now!

Rumours floating about that we’re loaning Balde out to Birmingham.

With Bangura offski it’s making room for maybe LG and Big Fridge!

  12. After being initially underwhelmed about Leigh Griff I’m now quited excited .

His signing could be a masterstroke.

We now got to see if he has that X factor. Will he be inspired by playing on the huge Celtic stage by banging in the goals and becoming a legend……or will he be overawed – like quite a few hopefulls in the past have = a flop?

Maybe because he was expecting a sponsored red Italian sports model rather than the sponsored by the Pram Centre 9 seater white Ford Galaxy people carrier that he has been presented with

Even then official club statements mean nothing I remember a particular odious little turd splashed all over the newspapers shaking hands with Mr Caesar about returning to Celtic

What about that lad McGinn? He scored over 20 for Aberdeen – he’d score zillions for us…..

  16. Just for the sake of clarification, have we bought Leigh Griffiths as a first team player, or is he another project, only much cheaper?

Niall McGinn, a name that has crossed my mind a few times in the last few days.
