Celtic get what their inconsistency deserved

827

Was anyone surprised at yesterday’s result?  You shouldn’t have been.  I don’t think I’ve ever before written two articles against taking a result for granted.  Celtic are ridiculously inconsistent as Kilmarnock, Hibs, St Johnstone, Inverness and now St Mirren will testify, even Arbroath left Celtic Park with a draw.  The intensity which has been self-evident on Champions League duty has been posted missing far too often.

Defeat yesterday was entirely possible as is defeat away to Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.  There will be entirely different tactics and attitude when Juventus call next month but right now you’re feeling sore because, against all odds, we’ve conceded a League Cup final place and we’ll find an equally brave opponent at some point in the Scottish Cup unless a solution is found.

Speaking at the funeral of Sean Fallon last week, Sir Alex Ferguson referred to need for a manager to be a hard taskmaster, generating a corresponding need for the assistant manager to be plugged into the dressing room.  I’m sure this is not the only way of managing a football team but it was how Jock Stein and Sean worked, and it’s how Sir Alex has worked for the last three decades.

Millionaire players need an edge in their lives to deliver on a lesser stage.

I had to be in Paisley all morning, which did not help my mood.

U are probably right mate, think the guy would fit in well with us, any time I’ve seen him been impressed. Be good to sign someone of his ilk but!!

  2. if i had posted straight after the game yesterday i would have regretted it today. we were poor and st mirron won now we move.

once again we lose out on the league cup, while a couple of other teams will benefit from a good pay day and a good day out, which can only be good for those clubs given they were all going to die without sevco……… sometimes even when you lose you win!!

so today the spl agree to a new league structure that puts football first and gives sevco a massive GIRFUY. we need change and the spl have voted through change, i hope the sfl clubs do likewise.

i think lots of things can be changed to improve the landscape of scottish football, i hope these changes are the first step in that process

  3. There’s a rumour going round that LNS was bus convenor of the Windsor Emerald CSC when he was at Eton. Apparently they done the sweep in a top hat.

No chance mate, Martin O’Neil today was saying how he wanted to sign him for Sunderland, id imagine thats where the transfer request has came as a result. Guys from the EPL just won’t come up here any more.

probably only take them 6 months to make the findings known, by that time thems will be out of business again.

I’d hope you and I would show drive , desire and intensity if we were ever given the chance to play for Celtic… Wouldn’t make us Captain material….any more than it makes SB imo

  8. Good evening Bhoys and Ghirls from a very wet and blustery EK.. Didn’t stop this village idiot from going a 5 mile run though. Yesterday’s cobwebs now blown away and consigned to history.

Did he not score that day or is my memory overwriting others?

*cannae remember I was still at school at the time, what I do remember was being at the whites vs the greens in midweek and he was outstanding.

On the Saturday Mike Jackson played as seemingly Johnny Divers had forgot his boots???? remember my da saying that was a load of Raphael.

I only met Bobby once and that was at the first Vegas, was up on stage with him and a lot of other Tims, Bobby had his arm round my shoulder as we sang “over and over” the picture of it was in the View, only time my mother bought it coming out of morning Mass.

Bobby was a true Celt, think that’s wht’s missing now.

  12. I suspect that Sevco will have a wee sweetener introduced to help them as part of the league reconstruction.

The SFA will remove or allow an increase to the maximum price restriction that Sevco can charge for a league match.

That way they can increase prices considerably and obviously boost their income.

    Only time will tell.

If I were Celtic I would make the suggestion to the powers that be ,that if they accept the titles being stripped then they will allow them to charge what they want for a league match.

Swansea player Danny Graham has asked for a transfer for ‘ personal reasons ‘ …. Rate the guy highly, anyone think he could be onNFL radar and could we afford him ?

ive just had to explain that to Mrs Che

nearly caused her to log off the Thomsons Travel site

thatll teach her for trying to search for holidays and read CQN over my shoulder

  15. floodlight game was 1959

The system was installed at a cost of £40,000 by Edinburgh firm Miller and Stables Ltd and to mark the occasion the Hoops organised a glammour friendly with English champions Wolverhampton Wanderers on October 12th 1959.

  16. The boy jinky.

There’s as many st mirren fans as Celtic now.

Weird that considering how many tims there is in the west.

A wee guy Brian from the blantyre area started a couple of years back, his drawl manner in the way he rips the huns is a joy to watch.

I feed him info that i read mainly on cqn.

    We had Thomson getting committed;-)

  17. While the lights were a huge success there was little room for optimisim about the performance on the pitch and to rub salt into the wounds of the Celtic support there was a strong rumour that star man Bobby Collins had been sold to Everton the season before to help pay for the new lights

  18. Cultsbhoy

Broonie has more Captain material about him than Jackie Mac ever had…thats for sure. From what I have heard he is well respected by all the players and one they look up to.

Lets face it you just dont like him.

    tinytim,

No fair on travelling supporters, fair enough the home support they deserve all the pash ripped out he can rip. But other teams supporters should not be expected to pay for their greed.

  20. Tiburon,

Whether they accept titles being stripped or not is of little consequence. If LNS decides that’s what must happen then that’s what will happen whether they like it or not.

  21. Tim Malone Will Tell on

    The Boy Jinky,

Didnt Alan Price also sing “Walter Smith and his tax avoiding bears”…or something along those lines….

  22. I loved it when the old lights would be turned up before a big European night..hairs standing on the back of the neck time…

  23. We could have had Captain Kirk on the park yesterday and it still wouldn’t have made a difference, no application, no hunger, no desire, no self respect,

    no longer in the Cup
