Celtic Hampden win rate higher than at Paradise itself

561

By the time they cross the white line on Sunday afternoon, Celtic will have rested for 8 days.  Kyogo had a few heavy training sessions early in the week and will be fitter, Giorgos Giakoumakis has iced his delicate limb.  The entire squad has rested in preparation for Hampden, a stadium, which incredibly, over many years, has provided Celtic with a higher win rate that the Paradise itself.

I didn’t get everything I wanted from this week’s European ties, but extra time at Ibrox was top of my list.  The script is written, althogh, you and I both know football is full of adlib moments.  Scripts give you a sense of what to expect, the punchlines often come from an inspired creator rising to the occasion.  We can take nothing for granted, this will be a battle.

On our last visit to Hampden, Ange Postecoglou considered the League Cup Final important enough to start Kyogo, who pulled a hamstring 10 days earlier.  The decision proved pivotal, as our Japanese striker scored two to transform a deficit into a win.  The manager’s wisdom was called into question a week later, when the same player exacerbated his injury, leading to a three-month layoff.

With a glance at the trophy cabinet, Ange might consider his instincts were right regarding Kyogo.  If so, Giakoumakis is likely to start.  Those three months, however, gave Ange time to ruminate.   I expect the Greek to start on the bench.

Patience will be required.  The game could last 120 minutes, if so, substitute decisions will be important.  Oh, and please, tomorrow, practice from 12 yards……….

Someone looking for a city centre pub tomorrow for breakfast and beer I can recommend Drouthy’s in Queen Street great fry up and decently priced. It’s across the road from Greggs at George Square.

On the game I just want to get through and shut these zombies up I don’t care who we get in the final as long as we get there. If it wasn’t a final in the next round I wouldn’t even care if we got beat as long as we’ve pumped their zombie arses oot.

    KEEP THE FAITH

Tavpen must be the least successful captain of any of the Ibrox Klubs, one trophy (without fans) in his career

Well maybe that constitutes a legend for an entity that’s only ever won one major trophy :-)

Enjoy your 95p pints today, am looking forward to a pint tomorrow in the Banks Club cheering on the hoops, not as cheap as 95p but certainly won’t be £5 a pint

  12. A few years ago a work contact wanted to take my boss and me to a Hearts v Celtic game in Edinburgh, hospitality etc. With some Hertz legend (😂 I know). I declined so my boss took his good Lhady.

My boss is a Tim as his wife, but the Mini Huns were throwing things about at the table, fenian this and Fenian that not knowing of the 2 Tim’s at the table. My boss’s wife went tonto at half time and gave them a mouthfull and her and my boss left.

On the Monday or Tuesday my boss said to me you done the right thing, I said I would never sit at a game with Huns or Mini Huns at a table with bevvy on it. Probably even if there is no bevvy in that setting.

They cannot be trusted to police themselves.

In light of the fact that Sky had dictated the 1 May fixture I paid for transport and non refundable hotel in Glasgow as soon as the fixture was announced…. Will I get a refund from the SPFL if they move the tie???

That should be remembered next time they play us and ask for 50%.

  21. I feel that the SFA are on damage limitation with the tifo thingy ban tomorrow.

They will be thinking Huns being DISGUSTING horrible LowLife scumbags that they are will have banners mentioning paedophilia therefor banning both fans tifo’s.

    SHOCKING protecting Huns as usual.

  22. Shocking defending from Hibs. No one anywhere near Simms when he picks it up 25 yards out. Takes advantage with a real belter of a goal.

That was the third time in first 15 minutes the Hibs back li e was breached.

    Horrible defending.

This could get embarrassing for Hibs.

  24. Another beautiful goal by Hertz from a free kick routine. 2-0.

Hibs fans head for exits then Hibs score. 2-1.

  26. Watching Hertz-Hibbees on ESPNPlus in the States. I don’t recollect hearing either commentator before. The commentary is fair, but they were absolutely ecstatic at the Hertz goals, and much less so at Cadden’s goal for Hibs. Methinks ESPN is carrying HertzTV.

I also suspect that wee Sean’s jaikit will be on a shoogly peg if they lose this today.

  27. AN TEARMANN on 16TH APRIL 2022 12:39 PM

    OK. Basic parsing.

‘ your outlook is both amusing and disturbing’

    Verb: is.

Subject of the verb: Your outlook.

    What is amusing and disturbing?

    Your outlook.

If you can’t understand basic English then there’s no way you are ever going to get to grips with historical events.
