Celtic harvesting the mascot generation

343

With St Mirren’s top of the table and derby clashes out of the way, Lewis Morgan attended a medical this morning ahead of his potential move to Celtic. The 21-year-old can play in left, right or central advanced midfield positions.

The player is out of contract in the summer and now free to choose his next contract, although a training compensation fee would be payable, the level of which Celtic have reportedly agreed with St Mirren. It is an indication of the times we live in, when a former Rangers mascot makes Celtic is his destination of choice.

That training compensation fee would not make him Celtic property until summer, so St Mirren are right to resist a little extra cash to part with him early, with their promotion push at a critical phase.

When Brendan Rodgers spoke after our Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren in March he suggested the Championship side were the best domestic opponents we had faced that season. Morgan clearly made an impression the manager followed up on.

Always better that the plane has the mechanical problems BEFORE you take off, in my experience…..

  2. Waited on YOU jumping in . Do you not think our midfield needs strengthening . Do you not think it’s time when we bought a player , that we shouldn’t,t have to wait months to see him . I am not alone in thinking the points I made . But obviously you just read posts that suit you . 2 goes you had there , I’m not getting involved with you , not my nature . But I,ll be posting my thoughts whether you like it or not

Not a bad option! Personally I don’t KT is suited to a new skool wing back role much better on the left of a 3 for me but the Kid is that good i am sure he would prove me wrong.

Would you look to replace any of these with a new addition or would you be happy that is strong enough to deliver?

I was gonna come up with a pun about amortisation but I don’t think any one would depreciate it…

Sean . I have felt midfield is a area we need a bit of bottle in , god knows what would happen if broonie was a long term absentee . Yes we have some flair players in midfield ,but against certain opposition we need to battle ,we have a few players who can’t cope with that , as was witnessed against hearts ,and against Sevco . Reading back the posts over the season , my points have been aired by many posters , I feel when ntcham came on to help scotty brown we gained command again , we looked a far better team . That’s all I was saying . No confrontation sought

No confrontation sought on my behalf either. I actually agree that we can be a little soft in the middle at times (not often but at times). What peaked my interest in your comment was that you believe Brendan wouldn’t see it and what you based that assumption on.

One of the things I actually really admire about Brendan is he tends to see what we see. How often under WGS, NFL or Ronny did you sit and say “make a change” and it doesn’t happen. I can barely recall a time under Brendan’s management when a change is obvious and hasn’t been made.

I personally have every faith Brendan has already identified the small failings that have materialised in the last couple of months and will use this month both in terms of the trip to Dubai and the transfer window to rectify them.

That’s why i posted earlier to say it would mot surprise me at all if come 20th against Brechin we line up in a different shape altogether

Agreed , but like you we have read about Kouassi being the man to add the steel in midfield . That won’t happen as long as the boy doesn,t get to play . But BR I suppose sees more than we do .

Agreed, and a point me and Wee BGFC often comment on at games. Most times, if we think a player is having an off day and could be subbed, Brendan makes the same change we have been talking about. Often with other managers you are left scratching your head at the subs that are used (or not used).
