With St Mirren’s top of the table and derby clashes out of the way, Lewis Morgan attended a medical this morning ahead of his potential move to Celtic. The 21-year-old can play in left, right or central advanced midfield positions.
The player is out of contract in the summer and now free to choose his next contract, although a training compensation fee would be payable, the level of which Celtic have reportedly agreed with St Mirren. It is an indication of the times we live in, when a former Rangers mascot makes Celtic is his destination of choice.
That training compensation fee would not make him Celtic property until summer, so St Mirren are right to resist a little extra cash to part with him early, with their promotion push at a critical phase.
When Brendan Rodgers spoke after our Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren in March he suggested the Championship side were the best domestic opponents we had faced that season. Morgan clearly made an impression the manager followed up on.

MELBOURNEMICK
I’m heading down under in March cruising from Sydney to Perth , we will be in Melbourne on 28th March think we’re there all day , wife got Neighbours tour planned but think that’s in the morning , be good to meet up for at least a couple of beers HH !
Anyone have any inkling of what Murphy would have been earning at Brighton, especially being in the Premier?.
TB- a lot of teams who get promoted to EPL , double their wages, and reverse it when relegated, a guess at 25k a week…
Bada Bing
It was bearable, just.

Cathach,
A happy new year to you and the family.
Your brother and I were talking about those games you mention as we walked up to Hampden for the League Cup Final. I wasn’t there, unfortunately.
I do remember those Third Lanark players you mention, at least by name. The only one I remember by his features is Jocky Robertson, the goalie, as he was wee. He was also very good.

Which places does your cruise visit? last one we did was

Don’t like the ‘flop’, ‘dud’ and ‘misfit’ epithets used in relation to Nadir Ciftci in the CQN Article today – poor show.

I don’t have your addy,but I have TONYROME’s. And I assume he has yours.
I’ll forward your post to MELBOURNEMICK and wi any luck you,him and PADDYMACOZ can have a go at drinking Australia Dry.
Got to be better than drinking Canada Dry. TEUCHTERARLA beat us to it(!)
BIGGEORGESFANCLUB
I think Nadir Cifci was a victim of the club’s policy at the time.
As were we all.
But we only had to pony up,watch it,go back to our day jobs. Some players who were promoted far beyond their ability have seen their careers ruined. Nadir,Amido, there’s two off the top of my head. Josh Thomson, another one.
Take a punt,disnae work,roadkill
Not a nice way to do business.
Davidopolous
Your posts today have been far too serious and informative to allow retention of the jolly epithet `Davipopolous` so it is back to the original for you, m`lad. I hope you enjoyed your twenty four hours of frivolity.

The comments by Jack Ross in the above article were so positive I thought Lewis Morgan had signed for Sevco.

CLOGHER CELT on 4TH JANUARY 2018 7:15 PM
Since the financial meltdown of Rangers, the Supreme Court Verdict and the systematic failure of the game’s administrators in Scotland to prevent cheating and deception.
Could anyone on here tell me what safeguards and checks and balances have been put in place to prevent a repetition of this shameful episode?
As a shareholder can anyone let me know what the Chief Executive of Celtic Plc has done to;
a) Ensure that checks and balances are in place to prevent a these events happening again?
b) What has Mr Lawwell done to ensure that the continuity myth of Rangers is corrected?
c) Ensure that where rules were broken and titles were awarded that the records are amended?
Thanks

In response to what have Celtic done you will be referred to the SPFL attempt to have SFA investigate which SFA rejected.
However the follow up to that is given Celtic have been unsuccessful in having an investigation that would provide the kind of assurances you/we seek on what basis will they or indeed any Scottish club ask supporters to renew ST’s?
It would appear Celtic have no faith in the SFA so how can they seek renewals form supporters.
The same question has to be asked by supporters of other Scottish clubs. Do their Directors have faith in the SFA and on what basis are they requesting renewals.
This is the natural outcome of the current stand off.
Of course if supporters are prepared to purchase STs unconditionally then there is no incentive to introduce measures that provide the necessary checks and balances.
The answer to the trust conundrum is to make the club licensing process subject to independent oversight before UEFA are informed and make the process itself much more transparent.
I would make ST purchase conditional on reform of the club licensing system and taking it out of the hands of the SFA.
In the normal business world it is the kind of service that could be placed elsewhere. The FA for example have theirs. No reason they could not be paid to look after at least SPFL top tier clubs.
Dessybhoy and the long grass.
‘This will not go away.’ More or less a quote from Celtic at a meeting before the AGM with Res12 reps.
Even if you doubt Celtic’s resolve, the factor raised by Clogher Celt will not go away.
There will be a cost to Scottish football in hoping that it will, but that cost might only manifest itself over a number of seasons or it might mainfest itself next April/May when renewal letters pop through the door, especially if the Comp Off is still macheting his way through the long grass.
I mean what self respecting person would allow themselves to be taken a loan of?
HAPPY NEW YEAR… to all of the CQN Napsters!
Can you please post your Week 23 selection on this article.

CQN Saturday Naps Competition : WEEK 22 standings (Dec 30th)
Lots of movers + shakers recently, with several decent priced winners over the last few weeks, but not too many in profit for the season (so far).
21-5-79 had back-to-back winners @13/2 & @15/2 in Wk 21 & 22
16 roads had back-to-back winners @9/2 twice in Wk 18 & 19
However, there’s no significant changes at the top of the table, with leftclicktic just holding onto a slender advantage over hashadenough.
So… it’s all still to play for in 2018!
