Celtic have had their warning shots

207

Yes, Newco players cheered hearing they would face Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final.  Manager, Graeme Murty, earlier explained the legendary status awaiting those players who deliver the club’s “first” major trophy, so chances are they will have to beat Celtic at one point.

Murty has twice taken his team to Celtic Park and left with a point, moreover, Newco eliminated Celtic on penalties at the same stage of the Cup two years ago, after a 2-2 draw.

Make no mistake, this is a perfect draw for Newco.  Celtic will have the league title secured well before the cup final, allowing Brendan Rodgers to rest players in preparation, should they progress that far.  During those final weeks of the season, Newco, Aberdeen and Hibs will fight-out for positions 2, 3 and 4.  They will not have the luxury of planning ahead for a final.  If you need to beat Celtic, better to face them before the final.

Anyone who thinks all Celtic need to do is go through the motions to win this semi-final, or this weekend’s game at Ibrox, needs to be reminded of trips to Rugby Park and Tynecastle.  We have had our warning shots.

  1. Man. United losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace at half time. Struggling to break down a well-organised and stubborn defence. Sound familiar ?

Alexis Sanchez looking like he’s worth every penny of the transfer fee Utd paid for him. Given the ball away 19 times in the first half, apparently (Sanchez)

    Now 2-0 down, :-)))

Wait til tomorrow young man …. the cleaning lady is in … you know what that means, dont you?

    the vacuum!!!!!

  3. Do I detect a faint whiff of fear on the board?

    A sense of creeping doubt?

Stop reading the press, listening to the radio and watching TV.

They are all spouting the same line, buoyed by some half decent results and an avalanche of propaganda from Level 5 and their water carriers.

I’ve no doubt deluded and formerly cowed Hun are coming out of their hibernation and do what bears normally do in the woods.

    Make a mess of themselves.

    Ask yourselves:

Do they have quality to match us in any position? (Apart possibly from in goal?)

Do they have anyone who can run the game and hurt us?

Do they have anyone to match the midfield pairing of Brown and Ntcham?

Do they have a striker of the quality of Dembele?

Does a defence which concedes 3 goals to Accies have the capability of blanking our attack?

Do they as a team have the experience and fitness to go toe to toe with us?

    No in every case.

So cast off the doubts and have faith in Brendan’s top management team and the players he chooses.

Smile when your confronted with their misplaced confidence and presumtion, knowing that come Sunday afternoon, bowling and golf club membership forms will be scrutinised and talk of football will be out of bounds as we are effectively crowned champions.

    Again.

****CQN Last Man Standing 10 -Just 4 days to kick off!!!!****

    Good Evening fholks

Our Last Man Standing competition starts Friday 9th March 2018.

Thank you for the 87 entrants to date and if you have been successfully registered you will have received 3 emails covering rules, payment and the first weeks fixtures.

Well done also to Shuggiebhoy67 who won a free additional entry when we crashed through the 67 mark. Our next free additional entry will be drawn when we hit 88 teams, so we are just 1 away!

If you have still to register, then do not leave it too late. If we have missed your email, please just send us a wee reminder

The competition will follow the same format as before and to win the entire prizepot, all you have to be is the Last (wo)man Standing remaining at the end of the competition.

Not played before? Simply, select a uniquely different team from the list of football fixtures provided by us each week, and if you are the last (wo)man standing, then you win the prize. Remember you can only pick the same team once in any competition, so you need to decide when to play the big guns! Full rules will be emailed to everyone who shows any interest.

The cost to take part is £10 per entry ( you can have more than 1 entry if you wish), and just in case you falter in any weeks 1 to 3, then we even allow you to buy your history back for a further £10. How easy is that? Surely you must win it!

The prizepot is 50% of all entrance and “history buyback” fees, with the remaining 50% being paid over to good causes.

For LMS10, the remaining 50% will be split between our Lisbon nominated benefactor “CQN Helping OUR mate Mick” receiving 80% of the donated proceeds and our Seville nominated benefactor “Just another street dog”, a charitable cause that is run by one of our CQNers and his wife, receiving 20% of the donated proceeds

You can read about these worthy causes here

    mymatemick.com

    https://www.facebook.com/Spanishstreetdogs/

So if you want to take part please send us an email to cqnpredictor@gmail.com saying ” Count me in” and we will send you emails detailing the rules, how to pay your £10 and, of course, the first week’s fixtures.

Please also feel free to encourage family, friends and work colleagues to join in, as they more that take part, means a bigger prizepot and more monies raised for good causes.

In LMS9, we had 137 entrants which was a record. It would be great to beat this record entry level in LMS10.

  6. Celtic by numbers.

    27 corners in one game.

    Is this a record?

    And no goals scored!

When we lost 5-1 at ibrox in 2000/01 we lost a goal at three successive corners.

    Is this a record?

    Hope you are doing well.

But, you have been watching too many movies, pal

… however, to be accurate, the cleaners come in after the house painters …..

Honestly, Seamus is a treat! The house just feels so much nicer with him in it.

  11. It must just be me I’ve watched the huns they’re as soft as baby first poop in the middle of the park..

    They’re tougher than us..get a feckin’ grip…

Big Oli will have two or three of them as a starter:))

  12. BATEEN BHOY

I think the folly of signing Sanchez has started to hurt them already.

I think the rumbling of discontent from Pogba’s camp are asymptote of such.

And like him or loathe him he was meant to be their focal point and star.

Sanchez also has a reputation of being disruptive in the dressing room.

I know the money available to Man utd is beyond most teams but there still has to be a finite point to wage structure and ridiculousulous cost of Sanchez deal has raised the wages and price for every future addition.

  13. Fan-a-tic,

Difficult to disagree with any of that.

Sanchez was a star at Arsenal, and easily their best player. Playing a deeper role under Mourinho isn’t suiting him, and there are signs that everything is not rosy amongst other players Pogba and Lukaku involved in a heated discussion a short time ago ( not a lot worse than you see in most games, i guess ) and Pogba looks to me the definition of the modern Prima Donna footballer, as talented as he may be.

Still. Fought back to 2-2 in this game. What do I know :-)))

p.s no goals from corners yet ;-)

  14. We r in a for a tough game on Sunday. We know it’s 14 v 11. As always. Get the players ready 2 go 2 war. Huns in the gym r super confident. They need 2 attack. Pressure on them. #deludedfools

  15. mike in toronto on

    Fanatic

The problem is that players like Sanchez would normally costs a significant transfer fee on top of wages … now, they are signing as free agents, but the thinking is that, since the clubs would be paying a transfer fee, a portion of that should be paid to the player instead … which makes the weekly wages crazy …,

the problem of course is that other players, like Pogba, are paid a wage based on a transfer fee being paid to the selling team …

a lot of the top players now have clauses that require they be the top (or there abouts ) wage earner in the team …

I dont believe that Pogba does, but (i) his nose is obviously out of joint, and (ii) other players will … which messes up the whole wage system ….

part of me thinks that the players should take the owners for whatever they can …. but another part of me thinks that $300,000 per week to play a sport is just immoral … then again, so is what the owners make …

not sure how much the GAA owners make … but might start watching that instead….

  16. SEAMUS LARSSON,IN TORONTO if your dads there, my email is james.christie@talktalk.net mike you were asking about big packy,he was my introduction to celtic, patrick mcwilliams known to everyone in lanarkshire as big packy, he took me to my first ever game at parkhead a 9-0 win against airdrie ,and frank haffey missed a penalty

, when he died it was big jimmy or big packy in his memory,i chose big packy but if anyone wants to call me jimmy feel free, about the e-mail leave it with me, my missus will sort it out.hh.

  17. Matic scores a belter from around 25 yards to win it 3-2 for Utd. A bit tough on Palace, but, them’s the breaks.

    He’s no Stuart Armstrong though

  18. Great comeback by utd.

Once Mourinho had no choice but remove his cautious approach it was a different game.

    Creativity made the difference.

  19. MIKE IN TORONTO

The wage structure can cause unrest in the modern greedy game.

I just can’t see any positive benefit to Sanchez signing.

  20. Who cares about Man utd. They slate us about the standard in our league. I could get a team together to give Palace a game.

Anyway closer to home I personally felt that Saturday was another fine example of Brendans man management, namely OE, a young player who had many on here scratching there heads but of late tunes are being changed. That’s the difference between us and them. We are now coming to the boil at the right time and will show them up on Saturday for what they are. And we all know what that is.
