CELTIC HEAD FOR PRAGUE – IF THEY BEAT CLUJ

CELTIC will face Slavia Prague in the Champions League play-off – if they overcome Romania’s Cluj at the third round qualifying stage.

The first leg against Dan Petrescu’s side is due on Wednesday with the return at Parkhead a week tomorrow. Now Neil Lennon’s men know what they have to do to reach the money-spinning group stages of Europe’s elite tournament for the third time in four years.

Celtic have a maximum success rate of four wins from their four qualifiers so far.

They kicked off with an impressive 3-1 win over FK Sarajevo in Bosnia, despite losing an early goal, and they followed that up with a 2-1 triumph to reach the next stage where they were confronted by the Estonians of Nomme Kalju.

The Hoops coasted to a 5-0 victory in the opening leg at Parkhead where Leigh Griffiths scored his first competitive goal of 2019 with a trademark free-kick.

And the Bhoys were rarely troubled in the return where their 2-0 win was marked by Marian Shved’s first strike for the club on his debut when he rifled in a late effort from 18 yards to cement the 7-0 aggregate success.

Craig Gordon also made his first competitive start for the club this year and made a couple of good saves on the rare occasion his goal was threatened.
