CELTIC IN £1.5m LINK TO DEAL No.5

CELTIC have been linked with £1.5million-rated MK Dons midfielder Matt O’Riley.

The London-born former Fulham prospect has already been targeted by ex-Hoops boss Tony Mowbray for Blackburn Rovers while Russell Martin wants him for Swansea. There has also been interest from European clubs.

However, according to reports in the local media, Ange Postecoglou looks poised to make O’Riley his fifth signing after his triple J-League swoop for Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi – who all made their first appearances in Monday’s 2-0 win over Hibs – while Irish teen striker Johnny Kenny has also arrived from Sligo Rovers.

The Hoops boss has said there will be no more deals in this transfer window, but he may have to make a quick move for 21-year-old O’Riley or risk losing out on a youngster who has scored seven goals and has been an impressive talent in English League One.

The Craven Cottage club are due a massive chunk of the fee – reported to be as high as 50 per cent – as part of the sell-on in the move to MK Dons in January last year.

O’Riley has featured 30 times in all competitions this season with his fifth-placed team chasing promotion to the English second tier.
