CELTIC have been linked with Rapid Vienna’s £3million-rated winger Isak Jansson.
Brendan Rodgers is continuing his hunt for wide Bhoys with Nicolas Kuhn poised to seal his £17.2million switch to Serie A outfit Como within the next 48 hours.
The Hoops boss has already brought in Swedish flanker Benjamin Nygren, but is still looking for reinforcements to offer options as he prepares for the new campaign.
Ironically, Jansson, who replaced Kuhn at the Austrian club after the German’s exit to Parkhead 18 months ago, has come on the Irishman’s radar.
ON A WING AND A SLAYER…Isak Jansson celebrates a goal for Vienna Rapid.
The 23-year-old forward has been outstanding since his arrival at Rapid and has attracted the attention of several clubs in Europe, including Italian double-act Fiorentina and Lazio as well as Ligue 1 new boys Paris FC.
Jansson hit nine goals and claimed six assists last season as the team settled for fifth spot in the league and feels ready for the next step.
He kicked off his career with Swedish minnows Skene IF and Kalmar FF, before moving to Spanish Second Division side Cartagena.
Jansson originally joined the Austrians on loan before making the move permanent in a bargain £200,000 switch. He is right-footed and can operate on both flanks, but prefers to play off the left wing.
That may be crucial if Daizen Maeda plays more through the middle in the new season while Rodgers scours the market for a long-term Kyogo Furuhashi replacement.
Looking at the overall transfer picture, the Hoops gaffer, speaking to the Scottish Sun, said: “I’m really pleased with some of the guys we’ve brought in — and we need to bring in more.
“We will only sell if the valuation is met. Likewise, players coming in, we have to get the right players.
“At this moment, it’s really about getting the team ready and prepared and building the squad.”
